This week in Springfield: At the Ozark Empire Fair, Friday's entertainment will be Lonestar.

When charging a record $38 for Friday-night Illinois State Fair Grandstand tickets, a double bill that promises both boot-scootin' and tube-snake boogies seems the way to go.

The 2008 Ozark Empire Fair opens Friday and continues through Aug. 3. The fairgrounds are located at the Missouri Entertainment and Event Center, Grant Avenue and Norton Road.

Grandstand shows begin at 8 p.m. unless noted. Ticket prices range from $10 to $30; advance-purchase tickets include fair admission.

'Weird Al' Yankovic, the highest-selling comedic recording artist in history, brings his longtime band and three decades of parodies to the fair on Monday.
