Basically, this is a very good test for writers who are planning to write fictions, online or not. This actually helps writers develop their characters well enough to not be a Mary Sue.

If you're planning to write a fiction/novel/whatever, then you should try putting your characters to the test. Who knows? It could probably help you in the long run.
I basically always put my characters through that test. I mean, I'm not bothered when they have some things in common with a Mary Sue, but it's good to know they don't hit TOO many points ^^
