Landon Carter was on the stage opening night, shaking like a leaf under the hot lights. He honestly didn't know why he cared so much. So what if he made a fool of himself? He's Logan Carter; his popularity would save him, wouldn't it? Maybe that's why. Or maybe it was her… sitting there looking beautiful
Landon brushed the thought to the side and said his lines. "All I know is your beautiful…..will you sing to me?"
The piano began to play but it wasn't the song that they've all practiced. This one was better, but he wouldn't admit this to anyone.
There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
Sing to me the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing
And laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
I give you my destiny
I'm giving you all of me
I want your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
Landon watched her with an amazed expression. Most would've thought this was good acting on his part but it wasn't. This was real.
This wasn't part of the plan, he thought. Was she trying to tell him something? He listened to the lyrics closer and thought hard. Then it all clicked, she's his only hope. She's his way out of this mess. Jamie twirled back to him gracefully and sat down softly, then hummed the last part of the song.
Landon didn't know what was happening; all he knew was that this wasn't part of the plan. He looked closer at Jamie. He didn't know what it was, the way the light caught in her hair, her amazing voice, or the way she looked. When the piano stopped playing and she stopped humming he leaned in and kissed her, softly and sweetly. He's kissed before, but this one…it was different….it meant something more.
As the curtains closed they broke apart. When they did, Jamie looked horrified, as if she committed the darkest of sins.
This wasn't part of the plan, she thought wide eyed. Before Landon could say anything she ran off and disappeared.
