Can We Please Talk About Gaius' Hair A Moment???

No honestly is there a reason his 'hair' looks like this again? What not enough money to splurg on a few good hair pieces guys?

Second, how many of you are beginning to thoroughly dislike him? For the longest time I put up with him as the amusing defacto father of Merls and that was all fine well and good and I could cope with his lack of imagination re the tavern issue all day long (Merlin being in the tavern) but this, this constant, thing of never quite telling all the relevant details and what is more, being selective in his memory is beginning to wear thin.

In fact, sometimes I find him far more evil than the warpedness of an Odin or an Uther because they are just blindingly ignorant but he knows better.

Thoughts welcomed. Very very miffed with Gaius this season.

Bonne-Bell I stopped liking him after 4x09. Hated him even more in 5x02 when he had the nerve to ask Gwen for mercy on Sefa's behalf after she knowingly committed treason but did nothing for Gwen after the whole Lancelot debacle and even encouraged Merlin to hide the truth about Lancelot because Gwen needed to suffer the consequences of "her actions". And lets not forget how he stood by and watched Uther kill people with magic and did nothing about it. Ugh. And they really do need to do something about that wig. It looks awful.

MISAforever I love Richard, but Gaius is getting boring, doing things that do not matter and those that do remain undone..

EPaws Okay why to you FDarcy is Gaius not evil? I am curious how you view him and your opinion as to why he does what he does on an ongoing basis. Genuinely interested. Cheers

fdarcy Gauis to me is conflicted, he loves Merlin, Arthur and Gwen, I know that in 4:9 he did not take up for Gwen and that in 5:2 he willingly pleaded for Sefa. But if you look back on his past he was willing to give up his life for Merlin's in the Witch Finder, most of the times he is afraid to expose anything for fare that he may expose Merlin's secret and I do believe that Gauis sees the unification of Albion as the one thing that must be fought for. Gauis believes that with Arthur as king that he will not rule by fare like his father and after 5:3 Arthur will realize that he is a better king and man than Uther ever was.

lailastar I thought for sure that this would have been his last season, like they did with Uther last season. It seems that every season one main character bites the dust. This year I thought it would be Gauis and Merlin would become court physician, hence a promotion and he will be in a position to use his powers to heal. Who knows what the last few episodes will bring.

EPaws Now, I quite like Richard Wilson. I say that quickly but he is kind of walking through it this year thus far. Don't get me started on Merls lack of promotion. That well...no never mind cause that is a long assed rant in and of itself. Right gone to put up the latest installment of Hitman Relay.

faithlessducks I don't blame Gauis for last season. His actions were out of character during 4X9, everyone was out of character. I thought he didn't want Gwen to turn into a mini Uther. He didn't care about Sefa.

EPaws I have come to the firm conclusion that not writing the series as a 12-13 chapter arc is the greatest failing of the series. Most of the massive plot holes are due to this. They should have simply hired a team of writers that worked in sync together and MOST of our complaints would be addressed re continuity. Now each chapter is a complete stand alone and that is the issue. The die-hards within the fandom go WTF constantly because of the rampant inconsistencies.

ellarose88 I love Richard but Gaius has done and said things that I don't agree with. As to the writing, the issue there is that they don't seem to remember what happens the previous series/episodes. It's like they change it to suit what they want to do at the expense of consistency.

EPaws Exactly everything is written stand alone. THAT is their biggest problem. That is why they need a crew of writers that work in tandem.

lailastar Right EP and Ellarose example this episode he is riding out to fight Odin, to revenge his fathers death by Odin's assassin, yet last episode the ghost of that same father almost kill his wife and himself, so go figure. This episode should have been aired prior to last weeks.

sportyshuie I like Richard and I liked Gaius in Season 1 but as the season wore off, they destroyed his character. I feel pity actually because i am sure even Richard didn't like what he did as a character. If indeed this is his last season, the least they could do for him is to make sure he goes out with a bang. AND about the hair .... even the horses are better groomed than he is.

famfan What EP said about not being an arc driven show is spot on.! I don't at Gauis, now his hair is another matter all together. what are they thinking. *sigh* What Bonnie said at the top is exactly how I feel, how dare him. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

MOPENDRAGON I completely agree with all that Bonne-Bell said at the top but I believe I feel this way about Gaius is because of what Stacey has articulated-there needed and needs to be a cohesive-in house team of Merlin writers weaving the story of these characters in context with the full history of the characters. And hell yeah Gaius' wig this season is a hot greasy mess-lol.
