Authors Note: Hello, everyone. It has been a tough few days. A great friend of mine has gone away, but I am trying to find comfort in writing. Just a piece here;very emotionally charged, so this will get intense, it explores a complete loss of control over one's body and mind; i just need some self expression right now.
Cold, dark, wet, quiet. Azula felt the iron walls with the tips of her weary fingers. Fingers that had not wielded fire, nor light for months. "Curses!" Azula began to beat her fist relentlessly against the cold cell floor. "Break! Crack!" The floor remained in tact. Azula was exhausted, and tortured breaths slithered out through her pale lips. A few seconds went by before the broken princess struck the floor once more. "Arghh!" Azula felt her finger snap with a mocking crack. She laughed quietly, and then louder, and then louder. Within minutes, Azula was curled into a ball, cackling uncontrollably in the stony air of the cell. What's this? Another person?
"Um..Azu-" Before the voice could complete its sentence, Azula clawed her way towards the small square opening that was her only window to the life she used to have. "Azula, w-would you l-like to play a game?" The voice quaked with fear. The princess threw herself back onto the floor with a single thrust against the door. "Yes, Mother, I love to play games with you." Azula kicked off her shoes as she fell into a fit of tearful laughter. "I-I'm not Mother, I am Dr. Long. I b-brought some friends for you." Azula's laughter stopped. It was replaced by an awful series or screams. The girl pulled on her hair with all her might. "Azula, sweetie, please play this game." A single Earth Kingdom doll was thrown forcefully through the opening. It had hit her in the head. Azula's screams were now replaced by boisterous crying noises, but there were no tears left. "Azula, sweetie, I-I am going to go now. I see that you don't want to play any games with me. Play with Erika instead." That was the doll's name, wasn't it?
The cell had somehow become darker, and Azula was afraid. She hopped into the far corner of the cell, hoping not to be touched or seen by the doll. "Can't see me, can't see me, Mommy's here.", she whispered. Suddenly, a warm, foul-smelling liquid accumulated in Azula's undergarments. Had she done it again? She began to pat the damp spots, but simply collapsed into a warm puddle. "Shut! Shut! Quiet!" The doll was...mocking her! As she covered her face with one hand, a pale arm reached toward the doll, grabbing it at the throat. "Erika, sweetie, your Mommy hates you." Without knowing that she did so, Azula squeezed the doll to her chest, nestling it up against her cheek. "Shhhhhh." The fallen princess sang a quiet lullaby her Mother once sang. And got all the words wrong.
"Ughh!", Azula screeched as she realized what she had done. She tossed the doll across the blackness towards the other side of her cell. "Oh no, sweetie.", Azula whispered, "I lost you....Erika?" There was no reply. It was a doll after all. It was quiet. Then CRACK! Azula had banged her head on the metal wall behind her. "Erika, sweetie, Erika, darling, Erika, honey, Erika....." Azula fell silently into a tortured slumber.
