Continuity: After the grizzly bear crashes through the ice, a hole forms around Balto. After Balto goes under and the camera pulls back, there is no sign of the hole the bear left behind.

Continuity: When Balto and Boris are lying next to each other depressed on the ship, a flock of geese flies overhead. When we cut back to Balto and Boris, the blanket that was covering Balto has disappeared.

Continuity: When Muk and Luk come after Boris, he uses a bucket and broom to protect himself. But then Luk picks him up from behind and he drops the bucket and broom. When he escapes from Luk's clutches, the broom and bucket have completely disappeared.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto wins the race and Steele steps on his foot to make him growl while they judge him, the guy says that they can't trust him. The other guy then says, "See those teeth?" but his mouth did not move at all.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the beginning, when Dixie congratulates Steele, her mouth doesn't move.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Jenna says "Clumsy", her mouth doesn't move.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto is leading the team back and he notices the scratches on all the trees, he says "Oh no" but his mouth didn't move.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto says "Go ahead, guys. Take her home", his mouth does not move when he says "Take her home."

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto says "I'm coming back with the medicine.", his mouth doesn't move when he says "with the medicine."

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Jenna says "Gee, Steele. I have to admit, your offer is... very tempting.", her mouth doesn't move.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto is looking at Rosy through the window, Boris walks away. Balto turns his head and says "Wait a minute. Now you're coming?". His mouth does not move when he says "Wait a minute".

Audio/visual unsynchronized: On the frozen river, after Boris gets the ice off his head, Jenna says "Where are they?", but her mouth doesn't move when she says it.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Jenna gets close to Balto after he says "but I'm glad you came", she says "Are you okay?", then Balto says "Are you okay?", but neither of their mouths move when they say it.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Balto is walking through the forest and gets Steele's scent, he says "Steele", but his mouth doesn't move at all when he says it.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Balto says "I have the keys to the city", he lifts the bolts out of the door hinges and they fall to the ground, making a metallic noise, like they fell onto cement or something else solid, but there's snow on the ground, not cement or other hard, solid material.

Continuity: After Balto lifts the bolts out of the door hinges, they fall to the ground, but in a shot from behind Balto and Jenna, the bolts are nowhere to be seen.

Continuity: A shot shows Balto and Boris on a snow-covered roof with no windows visible, yet when Boris slides down the roof, he falls through a window that wasn't there in the previous shot.

Continuity: When the two men are putting the crate of antitoxin on the dog sled, it has no cords on it at all to hold it down. Then in the next shot when they put the lantern on it, there are cords all around it.

Continuity: At the beginning of the race to decide the fastest dogs, when Kaltag is making fun of Balto, there is clearly a harness on him. When the gun is fired and the dogs run, the harness disappears.

Continuity: As Balto runs alongside Steele to retrieve Rosy's hat during Steele's race, there is a shot from behind the hat where the dogs are approaching the screen. At the rate they are going, they would have reached the hat immediately. However, there is quite some time between this shot and the shot of Balto actually grabbing the hat, indicating that the hat was not as close as it appeared.

Continuity: When Jenna and Balto are in the boiler room by the boiler, and Steele comes in between them, Jenna's on Steele's right, with Balto on Steele's left. A few shots after Steele says "You start at one end, I start on the other, and when we get to the middle" to Jenna, Balto is not on Steele's left, but by the boiler, almost in front of it.

Continuity: After Rosy and her father go inside after he says "you're going to catch your death out here", Jenna is in front of the door. After the door shuts, when the camera is looking at her from behind, Jenna is by the big window.

Continuity: Jenna's position both before and after Balto slides toward her changes. First Balto is sliding toward her right side. In the next shot, Balto and Jenna are touching nose-to-nose, and Jenna is in a different position than in the previous shot.

Continuity: Near the end of the movie, when Jenna sets the lantern down, there clearly aren't any broken bottles, but in the next shot, there's a pile right in front of her. Also, the lantern appears suddenly on another hill that wasn't there before.

Continuity: Near the end of the movie, when Jenna sets the lantern down to make the Northern Lights display, she climbs up one hill, yet in the next shot, there is clearly another hill behind her.

Continuity: When Steele is falling down the cliff with Jenna's bandana in his mouth, right before he hits the bottom, the bandana turns white.

Continuity: While Balto is running the race, Boris is seen jumping around on a fence, cheering him on. Throughout the race, that fence changes from wobbly and dark brown to stable and light brown.

Continuity: When Steele and his trio of dogs are mocking Balto in the alley by howling, in the shot where they see Balto growling at them and stop, Star's back stripes are gone.

Continuity: When the dogs hear Balto and Aniu howling, one of Star's back stripes is two spots.

Continuity: When Balto is leading the team over the ice bridge before it falls, a shot from above the team shows that one of Star's back stripes is two spots.

Continuity: When Balto is leading the team through the forest, at one point, one of Star's back stripes turns into two spots.

Continuity: When the team is climbing the hill after the ice bridge has fallen, a side shot shows one of Star's back stripes as two spots.

Miscellaneous: A couple of minutes before the avalanche scene, a shot shows the team disappearing into the forest after climbing the hill, but none of the dogs leave pawprints, and the sled doesn't leave any tracks.

Continuity: In the ice cave, when the dogs are looking up at the big icicles, Nikki's back stripes are gone. Also, one of Star's back stripes is two spots.

Continuity: When Star says that they're going in circles, he starts turning around in the lead. Look closely at Nikki's back. There are three stripes. In the next shot, there are only two stripes and the first stripe has turned into two spots. In the following shot, there are three stripes again.

Continuity: When Balto is leading the team back, he stops, and the other dogs pile up behind him. If you look at Star's back when Nikki says he thinks they were better off with Steele, his back stripes are gone.

Continuity: When Steele says "Everyone...is...fine.", his nose is not filled in.

Miscellaneous: At many points of the movie, certain parts of characters are either not filled in, missing, or have the colors switched around.

Continuity: At one point in the movie, Jenna's tail is missing the white stripe.

Continuity: When the shot transitions from the train to the log and then rises to show Steele and the team in the distance, look very closely at Steele's head. His black eye patches are missing. Also, the white stripe is missing from his tail.

Factual errors: Jenna is a Red and White Siberian Husky with brown eyes. Red and White (also called copper) Huskies don't have brown eyes. They have amber eyes and blue eyes, but never brown. Also, they have liver-colored points (eye rims, ears, noses, and lips), thus, Jenna's nose shouldn't be black. Additionally, she is missing the "snow nose" and the pink stripe it acquires in cold weather.

Continuity: At one point in the movie, Star can be seen to have three toes on one of his paws instead of four.

Continuity: While Steele and his team are slipping down the icy hill, there's tons of sticks and trees and lumps of snow, making it nearly impossible to get down. But when Balto looks down the hill at the team, it just shows an icy hill, no branches or trees.

Continuity: When Balto is underwater clinging to the underside of the ice, his light gray eye areas are missing.

Continuity: During the bear attack, when Balto is biting the bear on the leg, his light gray eye patches are missing.

Continuity: The resting angle of Balto's boat is steeper in exterior than in interior shots.

Miscellaneous: At most points of the movie, characters do not leave foot- or paw-prints behind.

Continuity: In the race to see which dog is the fastest for the team, Balto joins, but after the starting gun goes off and the dogs start running, Balto is nowhere to be seen in the race when they run by the camera.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: At the end of the movie, when Blaze barks, the dog is clearly not barking, and his mouth remains closed.

Continuity: In the very beginning of the movie when Steele is racing the other team, a couple shots show that Star's tongue is blue, but a few shots later in the same scene, his tongue is pink, and remains that color for the rest of the movie.

Continuity: Steele has four toes on each paw, but when he is telling Jenna the totally bogus "Balto's dead" story and counts on his paw, the paw he's counting on has five toes.

Continuity: On the frozen river, when Balto is on the piece of ice that is flipping over, he is frantically scratching, but if you look closely, no scratches are left behind.

Revealing mistakes: In the beginning of the movie, after the team turns a corner and is running down the street, two shots show Balto looking at Jenna off-screen, with the team in the distance. If you look closely, the dog team is just making running motions and not actually moving. At the rate they were going, the team would've reached and passed Balto fairly quickly.

Continuity: Before Boris grabs the box of soap flakes, there is an open flap on the box. When Boris grabs the box, the flap has disappeared.

Continuity: During the sled accident, Kaltag, Star, and Nikki land in three totally different spots nowhere near each other. Seconds later, in the next shot, Kaltag wakes up right next to Nikki.

Continuity: The avalanche starts down the mountain twice. Also, the distance between it and the sled changes.

Miscellaneous: When Balto is shivering after being pulled out of the river, his left eye is white, not yellow.

Continuity: At a couple of points in the movie, one of Star's back stripes turns into two spots.

Continuity: The color of Nikki, Kaltag, and Star's tongues change color throughout the movie. In some scenes their tongues are blue, but pink in others.

Continuity: In the alley, when Kaltag nails Star under the jaw, Star loses a tooth. In all other scenes in the movie, his teeth are intact.

Factual errors: At one point in the movie, a bush plane can be seen being used to carry the serum. Bush planes in the 1920s were not used for deliveries, medicine, or mail. They were used for surveys and firefighting and were popularized after World War II. Before that, they were not a common sight. Also, bush planes were concentrated in Canada and weren't used commercially in Alaska until the 1940s.

Continuity: When Steele throws the sausage at Balto to blame him, he makes a Pointer-like motion and raises his left paw. He has four toes on the three paws that are on the ground, but if you look closely, the raised paw has only three toes.

Continuity: During the white wolf scene, Balto's paws alternately have/don't have claws.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Steele is falling off the cliff, you can clearly hear him screaming, but if you look at his mouth, it's not open.

Continuity: When Balto gets up when he sees Aniu's pawprints in the snow, he puts his right paw in one of the prints a couple times, but each time, there's no print where he lifted his paw from to put it in Aniu's.

Continuity: In the ice cave, when the dogs are running from the icicles, the medicine crate gets broken. When Balto jumps off an icicle to repair the crate, the crate is intact. It can be seen intact a couple times before he fixes it.

Continuity: At the end of the movie, when the sled stops, the doctor rushes out, and the lantern is on top of the crate. In the next shot, the crate is being opened, and someone is holding the lantern. Also, no bottles of medicine are missing, even though one fell out and broke in the ice cave. Furthermore, the crate is intact, even though one of the sides was broken just minutes earlier.

Continuity: The telephone poles alternately have/don't have wires on them throughout the movie.

Continuity: Nikki is missing his tan chest and belly coloring for most of the movie.

Continuity: When Balto first scratches the tree, he clearly leaves scratch-marks. In the next shot, the scratches are gone.

Miscellaneous: When the doctor is transferring medicine from a bottle to a hypodermic needle, the level of the medicine in the bottle does not decrease.

Continuity: At the end of the movie when people are petting Balto, he gets out of the harness (which falls to the ground), then the shot cuts to Boris flying at him. When it cuts back to Balto, there is no sign of the harness.

Continuity: When Balto is climbing up the mountainside with the crate of medicine, the spacing between Nikki, Kaltag, and Star is different in the wide shot that shows the team. Also, their positions and distance from the edge of the cliff are different in this shot.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: At the end of the movie, after Rosy's father tells Balto that someone wants to see him, we hear lots of cheering and clapping, but we see no people or animals or any other source from which the clapping comes.

Continuity: In one scene, one of Steele's eyelids is white, whereas in the rest of the movie, his eyelids are black.

Continuity: Thoughout the whole movie Balto's eyes are always changing colors, from green to red and red to green.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Star says "You crack me up!", he gets bonked on the head by Kaltag. Star then falls down dizzily. Right before he falls down, you hear him say "Whoopee!", but if you look closely, his mouth doesn't move.

Revealing mistakes: When Jenna is pulling Rosie through the streets, taking her to the place of the race, in one scene there are no straps connecting the sled to Jenna.

Miscellaneous: During the race to decide the fastest dog for the team, when Kaltag kicks Balto after the dogs turn a corner, it it obvious that none of the running dogs leave pawprints.

Continuity: At the end of the movie when everyone reaches down to pet Balto, his ears are the same color as the rest of his head, whereas in the rest of the movie, they are two separate colors.

Revealing mistakes: When Balto and Boris are standing on the fence, and Balto is getting ready to race with the other dogs, Boris sits on a windowsill and swallows a soap flake. When he spits it out, his eyes open wide and he doesn't have any pupils.

Continuity: When Steele, Nikki, Kaltag, and Star where in the alley antagonizing Balto, Kaltag hits Star on the head, and it shows Star as missing a tooth. When Star gets up and shakes the snow off his head, he says something to annoy Kaltag, and you can plainly see that he is no longer missing the tooth.

Continuity: Two shots after the man lights the lantern, a shot looking into a building shows Steele and the other dogs by the boiler. Look at Steele. His back legs are flat on the floor and his front legs are crossed. In the next shot, his back legs are off the floor, and he holds his head with one of his front paws.

Revealing mistakes: After Steele says "Well, maybe your taste runs more toward... wolf" to Jenna, she walks away, being called by her owners. Then Dixie walks over to him and makes a suggestive comment. During this whole time, if you look closely, none of the people behind them or in the distance move.

Continuity: During the "We're going in circles" scene, we see that Kaltag is behind Star. But when Steele gets his bearings and continues leading, Nikki is now behind Star.

Factual errors: The "Northern Lights" trick with the broken bottles is not possible.

Continuity: Balto was neutered by musher Leonhard Seppala when he was only a few months old, meaning the puppies he has in the sequels never came to be.

Continuity: When Balto and Steele get into a fight, Steele falls off the cliff. As he is falling, you see that the face of the cliff is rocky, with a few snowy patches. But in the shot where Steele has hit the ground and is rolling at the bottom of the cliff, the cliff face is totally snow-covered, with few rocky patches.

Revealing mistakes: When Balto is talking to Jenna outside the hospital, when he says "Hi. Look, uh... just a shot in the dark, but I was wondering if, uh... I-I don't know, maybe you'd like to go chase a few sticks by moonlight?", you can hear an echo in Balto's voice when he says "chase a few sticks by moonlight".

Continuity: When Steele enters the building, he shakes off a bunch of icicles, which pierce the woodwork behind a couple dogs. In the next shot, the icicles are gone.

Continuity: Two shots after Balto scratches the tree, a show shows Steele and the team walking toward the screen. If you look closely, they do not leave any pawprints behind.

Continuity: When the dogs watch in shock as Balto falls off the cliff, Star's back stripes are gone.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: A couple of shots after Boris gets hit by a snowball, he taps his "fingers" on the snow, but it sounds like he's tapping on a hard solid surface, like wood or something.

Continuity: After Balto slides toward Jenna, they are touching nose-to-nose. A shot shortly after shows Rosy's dad calling Jenna. When the shot comes back to Jenna, about 3 or 4 seconds later, Balto is now in an alley. There is no way he could've gotten in the alley that quickly.

Miscellaneous: In the ice cave, when the dogs are looking at the broken sled handle, the same gray dog can be seen on either side of the sled.

Continuity: At a couple later points in the movie, near the end, Star's tongue is blue, not pink. The same goes for Nikki. At the end of the movie, before Balto goes to see Rosy, their tongues are pink again.

Revealing mistakes: When Balto says "Don't talk to me, Jenna. I might turn on you.", the inside of his lower jaw is the same light gray as his face, and is not filled in.
