Ramirez is reportedly retiring due to an issue he had with the league's drug treatment program. The NY Times reported that he had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs during Spring Training. In 2009, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ramirez was suspended 50 games for using performance-enhancing drugs banned by major league baseball.
