This was a very exciting day for Parker’s class room, as they were all going on a field trip to the Jeffersonian. Everyone in the class had picked out a different exhibit that they wanted to see and Parker was no exception. He wanted to see the mummies again that Bones had showed him before. He wanted to show his friends the mummy that Bones and his dad had found that was involved in a murder.

The teacher who was taking them was Mr. Hyatt. It was not one of Parker’s favorite teachers but he did not care as he was going to see the mummies again. As the class was moving through the museum proper, Mr. Hyatt was telling all of the students about each of the exhibits and how important they were. Some of students in the class were getting bored listening to him talk.

When they finally reached the exhibit of the two mummies, Parker was waiting for Mr. Hyatt to tell the story of the two brothers and what Bones had discovered. Instead Mr. Hyatt was ignoring the display and talking about how one brother had killed the other. Parker raised his hand to speak, but Mr. Hyatt just kept talking. Finally Parker could not be quiet any longer and blurted out.
“Mr. Hyatt you are telling the story wrong.”
“Parker Booth, you interrupted me and I am correct. You do not know the story of these mummies.”
“Mr. Hyatt, Bones told me the story of how one brother was killed when he fell from his horse and the other was killed by his father. Bones figured it out because of the ruby they found in the mummy’s chest.”
“Parker you should not make up stories.”
“I am not making this up. Bones told me.”
“Parker you need to stop. You also need to quit talking about your imaginary friend by the name of Bones. I know what I am talking about not you. I am the teacher and I know more than you.”
“Mr. Hyatt you are wrong.”
“Parker I am not going to put up with this anymore, you must apologize to the entire class for telling lies.”
“Mr. Hyatt I am not lying and I will not say I am sorry.”
“Parker, when we return to school I am going to inform the principal of your bad behavior and you will be suspended from school.”

Parker was now almost in tears but he was not going to let the teacher see him cry. Instead Parker said “I will show you” and he ran out of the room. He was going to find Bones and ask her to tell the teacher.
Mr. Hyatt was not fast enough to stop Parker from running out of the room. He yelled after him to stop but to no avail. He immediately summoned one of the guards on duty and informed them that one of his students had just run away.

The guard escorted Mr. Hyatt and the other students back to the security office to report the missing child. The head of security, Mr. Erickson asked Mr. Hyatt why the child ran away and Mr. Hyatt responded that the child was a trouble maker and was being unruly.

Mr. Erickson told Mr. Hyatt to stay in the office with the other children while he has the museum searched for the child. He offered Mr. Hyatt the phone to call the school to let them know about the missing child. Mr. Hyatt wanted to wait until after the search there was no reason to panic the parents about the missing child.

As the guards searched, Parker had already gone to where Bones worked and was no longer in the museum proper. The entrance guards at the forensic labs knew Parker and took him to Dr. Brennan’s office to wait while they informed her he was there. As Brennan entered her office she could see that Parker was slumped in a chair with his head down.

“Parker, what are you doing here?” She asked.
“Bones I need your help. My class is visiting the museum today and the teacher, Mr. Hyatt was telling the wrong story about your mummies.”
“Parker did you try to tell him the correct story?”
“Yes but he said I was lying and that you are an imaginary friend and he was going to get me expelled from school.”
“All right Parker, we will go over and talk to this teacher, but I think we should call your father just in case.”
“Bones why do we need to call my dad?”
“Well Parker if this teacher has a problem with you then you should have one of your parents there to deal with the issue. Besides I am only your father’s partner and the teacher may not be willing to listen to what I have to say, but I do know he will listen to your father.”
“All right if you think we should.” Parker answered.
Bones then called Booth and told him to meet her at her mummy exhibit. She quickly relayed what Parker had told her and that she and Parker were going to the exhibit now.

Meanwhile, back at the security office, Mr. Hyatt was waiting for news on the search. Mr. Erickson had checked with his entire museum guards and no one has seen the boy. He did not check with the guards at the labs because he had no way of knowing that Parker would go there as most people do not know it even exists. Mr. Erickson was telling Mr. Hyatt that the boy has not been located and that he should call the school to let the parents know what has happened.

Just as Mr. Hyatt was going to notify the school, Mr. Erickson received a call from one of the guards at the mummy exhibit telling him that Dr. Brennan was there with the missing child. Mr. Erickson said to Mr. Hyatt. “Well the boy has been located in the mummy exhibit. He is there with ……………..” Before he could finish his sentence Mr. Hyatt had left the security office with the other students and was heading for the exhibit. Mr. Erickson quickly followed after him.

As Mr. Hyatt entered the mummy exhibit room, he saw Parker talking with a woman in front of one of the mummies. He quickly went over to them and said. “Parker Booth you need to come with me this instant.”
“Who are you? Can’t you see that we are having a discussion about the exhibit?” Brennan asked.
“I don’t know who you are madam but this child is one of my students and he is coming with me.” Mr. Hyatt stated.
By now all of the other students were surrounding Brennan, Parker and Mr. Hyatt and listening. Mr. Erickson was just coming into the room when he saw the group around Dr. Brennan. He stayed back a little because he knew that Dr. Brennan was the one who had done this exhibit and knew more about it than anyone.
“Are you the teacher that Parker informed me did not know the most recent discovery about these two mummies?”
“I don’t know what this child has told you, but I am well aware of the story of these two brothers.”
“So you are familiar with the recent discoveries then.” Brennan asked.
“I don’t know what this child has told you but there has been no recent discovery.” Mr. Hyatt answered.
By now Brennan could not contain herself when she said. “What kind of teacher are you? Did you not see that this whole exhibit is about the most recent discovery on the story of the deaths of these two brothers?”
“Madam, this child has obviously told you the story that his imaginary friend has told him. You may be fooled by this boy but I know a liar where I hear one.”
As Mr. Hyatt was saying this Booth was coming into the exhibit room.
Before Booth could come to the aide of his son, Bones started to lash out at the teacher in no uncertain terms. Booth held back as he watched Bones take on the teacher.
“This child has more intelligence in his little finger than you have in you entire body. You should be ashamed to call yourself a teacher.” Brennan fumed.
“Who do you think you are to speak to me this way?” Mr. Hyatt retorted.
“Mr. Hyatt you are talking with Dr. Temperance Brennan, who made the discovery and prepared this exhibit.” Mr. Erickson interjected.
“Well you don’t know this child the way I do and he is nothing but a troublemaker.” Mr. Hyatt said glaring at Brennan.
“You are a pompous MORON; you should never be allowed to influence the development of children’s knowledge. You are doing nothing to encourage these children.”
Mr. Hyatt tries to grab Parker’s arm to pull him away from Brennan. At this moment Brennan pulls Parker away and says. “Don’t you dare touch him.”
Mr. Hyatt reaches again but now Brennan is between him and Parker. Brennan starts to get into her stance that Booth knows all to well. She is going to take down this teacher if he doesn’t move quickly.
“Let me handle this. You stay with Parker.” Booth says as he reaches her side.
“Who are you?” Mr. Hyatt asks.
“I’m Special Agent Seeley Booth with the FBI and Parker’s father.”
“Well that woman has no right to interfere.” Mr. Hyatt stammers.
“That woman has every right to interfere, as she is my partner.” Booth snaps.
“Well you should know that Parker has been making up stories which he says Bones is telling him. I believe your son needs some counseling.”
Booth calls Parker over to face Mr. Hyatt and asks. “Have you been making up stories?”
Parker looks at his dad and says. “No I have only been telling what Bones has told me.”
“See this is exactly what I mean. He has an imaginary person named Bones.” Mr. Hyatt declared.
At this moment Mr. Hyatt saw Mr. Solomon, the school’s principal enter the room. Booth had called the school after talking with Bones when she first called him about this incident with Parker. All the other students have been listening and watching this whole time and when they saw the principal they knew someone was in trouble.

Mr. Solomon who had heard of Mr. Hyatt’s complaint against Parker before at school wanted to get to the bottom of it and to resolve this issue with little or no fuss. As he joined the group, Mr. Solomon asked. “Mr. Booth, what about this friend of Parker’s named Bones?”

Booth turned to his son and said. “Go get Bones.” Bones had been standing on the other side of the room because if she got any closer to Parker’s teacher she knew she would hit him.
Parker went to Bones and grabbed her hand. As she approached the group, Booth introduces her to Mr. Solomon. “Mr. Solomon I would like you to meet my partner, Dr. Temperance Brennan who Parker and I call Bones. Now if Parker has been telling stories that Bones has told him you should be aware that she is a certified genius, speaks six languages and is considered a world renowned forensic anthropologist.”
At this Mr. Solomon turns to Mr. Hyatt and says “I believe you owe Parker an apology for accusing him of lying.” Mr. Hyatt, with a very red face turns to Parker and says “I’m sorry, Parker.”

Parker is smiling. Booth could see that his son is very pleased with the result but he must let Parker know that he should not have run from the teacher the way he did and he owes an apology as well. Booth also tells his son. “Parker any time you have a problem you need to tell your mother, me or Bones. You should not have run away and you need to apologize to Mr. Hyatt.”
Parker looked at his father and answered. “Yes, dad.” And then he turned to Mr. Hyatt and said. “I’m sorry Mr. Hyatt.”
Parker then turns to Bones and says “Thanks Bones.” He then joins the other students, as Mr. Solomon declares. “If you don’t mind I think we need to get these kids back to school.”
As the students are leaving the museum, several of them commented to Parker that they wished that their step-moms would be that cool. He responds by answering. “Yea, Bones is awesome.”
As Booth is watching the class leave, he asks Bones. “Were you going to knock down Parker’s teacher, because it sure looked like it?”
“Booth, he was attacking Parker and I was not going to just stand by and let that happen.”
Booth put his arm around her shoulders, gently squeezed and in a soft voice said. “That’s my girl.”
