Love and Infatuation (Examining Brucas, Jeyton and Leyton)

My Leytoner bestfriend and I are checking out my old scrapbook and we found this amazing piece of comparison between LOVE and INFATUATION and we just thought that maybe we can use it here. So with her help, we write this article. She agreed to follow a Brucas and Jeyton perspective but also insert and defend Leyton once in a while. This will be extremely difficult but here we go:

LOVE develops slowly; INFATUATION develops rapidly

Season1: Lucas always harbored feelings for his half-brother's girlfriend Peyton because they have musical similarities and other introverted preferences. He wanted to be with her because he can relate to her and she to him. Then they gravitated towards each other and right at the moment that they could build a relationship, Peyton pushes him away and then recommends Brooke to pursue him. Brooke has every intention of dating him seriously but also have fun in the process. My bestfriend said that Lucas still wants Peyton even when he is now with Brooke and she predicted he would go find her and well, she was right! Then the betrayal happened with a kiss. Leyton feelings of romance have been there but they never acted on it sincerely and ever tried to make it more than just a 'sneaking-around' passion. Lucas likes Peyton instantly, always had a crush on her. But with Brooke in s2, he got to know her, admired her and finally falls in love with her and he didn't even expect it.

LOVE centers on just one person; INFATUATION may involve several people

This is a touchy subject because I can see Lucas committing the last one. He had Brooke and Peyton hanging in a balance, bouncing from one to the other. But Brooke only had feelings for him but messed around with Felix and slept with Chris Keller. Peyton was with Jake but she didn't even get to be with Luke; she got it on with Pete first. Then after getting shot, bam, Lucas. The three have their own faults in this area. But the other people they have a thing with are meaningless and the one thing that remains is the one they confessed their love for. Brooke to Lucas. Lucas to Brooke. That's season 3. And Peyton? Isn't it with Jake? My bestfriend agreed that Peyton loves Jake but once he was gone, she fell in love with Lucas again. At first she was denying it and wasn't brave enough to admit this but by season 4, it happened. Our opinions are divided on this. I think P.S was never in love with Luke. She thinks she was and was just pretending not to love him at the same time with Jake.

LOVE motivates positive behavior; INFATUATION can have a distracting effect

I could go on and on as a Brucas fan. First Brooke changed a lot when she's with Lucas and he motivated her to go out of her 'brainless slut' facade and become the best person she is. She did the same with Lucas, opening him up, making him commit, asking what he wants and makes sure they can compromise and agree on each other's justified terms. Their relationship grew and became inspirational to each other. They were the best people once together.

My bestfriend on Leyton: Lucas saves Peyton and he's her rock, providing her with all the strength and never abandoning her. Peyton always had Lucas to turn to when there's nobody else. He was the guy who picked her up after Psycho Derek and who reunited her with his long lost brother. Peyton loves Lucas for being that kind of man to her. And Lucas will always try to keep Peyton together no matter what it takes.

Now distracting effects: even my best friend agrees that Lucas makes Peyton seem weak and selfish. He makes her seem so frail and cuddles her too much. Peyton to Lucas is a damsel in distress. Unlike with Jake, he believed that Peyton is stronger than she is. And s5 is full of the distracting effects on Leyton: Peyton is a bitch to Lindsey. Peyton snaps all the time, trying to get Lucas again, albeit another person's own feelings. She's putting herself first because she needs Lucas. It's a desperate costume for Peyton and I don't like her being reduced to that.

LOVE produces security: INFATUATION produces insecurity

How many times is Peyton so 'broken-hearted' with Lucas in s5? How many times does she feel played around with and alone? Does true love do that to you? Make you regret the present and always go imagining the past you have? Pushing the future to your own accord because you want happiness for yourself alone? Sure, P.S might have wanted Lucas and Lindsey happy...at first...but like with Brooke, she couldn't help herself. She just has to take Lucas. It's the insecure part of her talking. She never had that mean side with Jake.

I'm not saying Brooke isn't insecure. But take Peyton out of the picture, and she's happy with Lucas. She trusts him. She tries to be loyal after the Chris Keller incident. Add Peyton and hell breaks loose. Brooke has her fault for that too, my best friend says, but it's normal reaction if your friend admits feelings for your boyfriend. That's not right. Brucas together are loyal to each other. It was P.S who kissed Luke. Lucas admitted that it didn't mean anything.


LOVE recognizes realities; INFATUATION ignores them

We will divide this in three:

BRUCAS was willing to sacrifice and admit that things could not work out anymore. For now. They set each other free and still remained friends. They know they still love each other but for now, they stay friends. They don't go running to each other for a momentary passionate kiss and then go back with their lives, blaming each other for that lapse in judgment. That never happened to Brucas. Even in s5, they listen to each other and never controlled each other to their own whim. Lucas felt stability with Brooke even with just the friendship they have. They mature together than any boyfriend-girlfriend would. And as lovers...wow.

JEYTON taught Peyton self-knowledge. She claimed to learned how to truly love someone with Jake. She claimed that she gained her heart's desire and she wouldn't give it back for the world. And she was rarely selfish with Jake. She was willing to let Jake go to arrange his life and he never made her feel like she's out of place. Peyton is always unsure of her status in a relationship but Jake takes away that fear and helps Peyton to build herself. Not fix her. He made her feel like she's not just a girl needed to be rescued. When he came back for her, he didn't hold her head while she's in pain. He knew Peyton can do it by herself. And Peyton believed it too because Jake didn't limit her to just one option. And when they thought they can't be together, the hope was still there. "Someday," right? Like Brucas, they have to put it aside. For now.

LEYTON is one landslide of rejection, humiliation and selfishness after another. I explained to my best friend (although I haven't fully convinced her) that Peyton went out of her way to make Lucas regret his decision to marry Lindsey ("if you want to break my heart, you don't have to propose to Lindsey to do it") and making it all about her. Lucas constructed this 'perfect love' with him and Peyton in a fictional book, blurring everyone's views and confusing Peyton. God, when there's a book written as an instructional manual to be with one guy, that would make anybody dizzy! Peyton felt like she had to live to the expectations written on the pages. The Molly girl is the epitome of LP fans who think what Lucas and Peyton have is just so worth it. I get that but Lucas' mistake is making their relationship into such a pedestal. It's not. Real relationships aren't like that.

My biggest problem with Leyton is they don't know when is the right time to fight for each other and when is the right to give up and compromise

My best friend still wants Leyton to be end game but what we have in common is we're still with Jeyton and she said that if Jake comes back, she might just change her mind. She's a Leytoner who doesn't believe Leyton is that epic. She just prefers them because she's captivated with their whole 'inevitable connection' and the "There's always gonna be there, is it, you and me?" And she's convinced that when Peyton said "I want all the same things that you want and I want them with you" shows that maybe Leyton can be a better couple if Mark allows them to grow and not rely on an autobiographical novel to guide them to success. My best friend also said that Leyton will always exist in OTH, romantic or platonic, and even though Brooke is a favorite, she supports LP.

Broody_4_Cheery i love it. sounds like you have a good pro-leyton friend, i have a sister like that. totally agree with everything you said. maybe you should send this to mark, remind him of the difference between love and infatuation. this was one of my fave parts: Lucas constructed this 'perfect love' with him and Peyton in a fictional book, blurring everyone's views and confusing Peyton. so true. i just wish sometimes that some people remember it was a book, just a book, one written at the time that he was with peyton, but things change and in the end all that book is is a bunch of pretty words created to sell a story.
eka-chan Right back at ya, Broody_4_Cheery!! And my best friend said the term 'an instructional manual' for Peyton to be with Lucas and that's in unfair to her. She also said that Mark exaggerated it. Even without the book, she's still pro-LP. Even when Jake was there, she said she liked Lucas with Peyton too. And then when Jake left, she totally shipped to LP. Although Brooke is her favorite, she said she wanted to see Brooke with somebody who could deserve her and Lucas ain't that guy for her. Now I like Peyton to Jake and she likes that too but she can settle for LP to be end game. Brucas to her seems too difficult to picture now that they're just friends in s5. Her opinion on mean Leytoners? She says, "it's just a show. leyton is fictional. i like them but i don't defend them like an eye-for-an-eye. that's crazy" But I'm still for Brucas because my best friend also can't deny that they had a meaningful relationship. And Leyton to me...just isn't right anymore. In s1 there's a spark and Mark could've developed that...but no...he paired Brucas and it was effective. Jeyton was magnificent too! And what is up with the "An unkindness of ravens?" Is that really a love story for Peyton? Come on, OTH is filled with a lot of drama than just the leyton saga. Why the hell is everybody concentrating on that? I'm a writer myself and I know for a fact that I write things that frustrate me and make them likeable. I think Lucas did that with his relationship with Peyton. He knows it was lacking so he had to invent something. And he wrote LOVE LETTERS to Brooke and that ain't fictional. And he's no time to discuss his relationship with Brooke in a book, not because it's not worth writing about, but because it doesn't need words to be expressed. My best friend didn't like the whole 'perfect love in a novel' idea of Mark's either. It ruins her LP, she says. Why based Leyton in a book when they had so much as friends before in seasons 1, 2, 3 and finally became lovers in s4? She said that LP needs to be developed because they do have something. But a book to support that? She said Mark is being unfair. He didn't (and never) pull that stuff with Jeyton and Brucas.
Broody_4_Cheery his book was about more than just peytons and his relationship, as you said its called 'an unkindness of ravens', i doubt it would be classed under the romance genre. eek, its a book, books arn't like tv shows or movies, you don't mess around with whose suppose to be with who, a reader knows from the beginning which characters are going to get together, it is not a surprise, with books the hints are more noticeable because they are there in black and white, and you don't have the visual or chemistry to lead you, all you have are the words, and you can't assume peoples thoughst or feelings you read them as the writer wants you to and more often than not you are in that persons place thinking and feeling what they are. if leyton in lucas' book was the couple the story would have been played around that, he would have toned down feelings and facts that lead away from it, would have intensified every feeling, every scene, because its a book, and its there to sell a story. i once got into an arguement with a leytoner, i said that seeing lucas was dating peyton when he wrote the book that of course that was going to be the couple in the book, and they turned around and said how they weren't dating when it was being edited and he could have changed it, like an author is going to just comepletely change the love interest of the main character after he wrote the book, lets just forget the fact that the publishers might not be cool with that, after all they took on the book as one thing. shake head. im with you about how leyton just isn't right anymore, i think they could have been once upon a time back in season one if the show had taken a different path, and maybe then i wouldnt be so anti leyton, but i just dont believe in them, i dont feel their chemistry or love, all i see is a great idea which is just so lacking in real emotion and lacking in just reality. your friend may think brucas is too hard to picture after their sn 5 friendship, but hell no that is the opposite for me, they finally have a strong, loving selfless friendship that they could use as a foundation for a stable relationship, that friendship could help shape them into a couple they couldnt be as those teenagers they once were, that friendship could smooth over their earlier problems. but i inderstand after all i found leyton hard to swollow after season 2 and 3 friendship, but i dont know brucas just never really seemed platonic to me, even with great sn 5 friendship they still have that secret smile, that look between them, that amazing hug, and i believe with complete ceratainty that brooke is still in love with lucas, so yes i can picture them back together. ok now im pausing to breathe. once again i love your views eka-chan.

That opinion on Leyton is hard-on...right at the spot where it is reasonable! And I also agree with Brucas...there's so much more potential for them that is overshadowed by leyton's 'so-called epic legacy of romance that even haley (of all people!) is advertising' True Love Always? Could Mark make Leyton cheesier? Jeyton has always been my most favorite couple and dismissing them is just wrong because Peyton is the happiest with only Jake. Lucas is just this superman asshole who rescues her because he's so chivalrous (gag me now) And I think Lucas' feelings for Brooke are far more sincere than when it comes to his feelings for Peyton. Honestly, s5 was so full of Leyton crap that it's tragic and not even amusing anymore. Not communicating and still hoping to be meant to be? Fighting over a proposal and refusing to work things out? Coming back for another repeat-scene of 'the agonizing betrayal kiss'? (my P. Sawyer is an idiot and I hate Mark for doing that to her.) Why is it so hard for the whole darn Tree Hill to see that Leyton IS THE HIGH SCHOOL ROMANCE that is just a one-time fling. They keep implying it's Brucas that is just "about the sex" (s**t)and just a silly crush and Peyton is Lucas' forever...but hello??!! All those prediction notes of Laley refers to Peyton as this juvenile crush of Lucas's "Make out with Peyton Sawyer." "Talk to Peyton Sawyer." Oh wtf...this hurts like hell when you process how creepy and baseless Lucas' infatuation is. It never developed into a real romance. They just sneaked around behind Nathan, then behind Brooke. Now with Lindsey (reluctant, oh-so-romantic Lucas playing hard-to-get but we all know he lands back to the same mistake that is Peyton) I just finished s5 and gosh darn it! The fictional book for Peyton is a lie. The real thing is the love letters to Brooke. The prediction note "A second chance with Brooke" is what a romance is supposed to feel and be like. And the whole comet-scientist thing? A little played-out, Luke, keep trying. Maybe you should write about the Scotts (Naley and Jamie) than waste time on repeating your forced, predictable love-love for a girl who you never saw more than just a female counterpart, an equal when it comes to misery business. Leyton...could have been acceptable if developed. Like Naley. Brucas. Jeyton. But no...it was a settlement that stemmed from Chopia divorce and Brian G's sayonara. So...REALLY, MARK? LP AGAIN???!! I get it with the whole "Your Art Matters" stuff and the "I want all the same things" stuff. But Mark could've gone further than that as the seasons proceeded and not let Leyton hang and kept stored somewhere and when it's time to pop out...BAM!! BAM!! BAM!! True Love Always...please nominate Lucas Scott's book "An unkindness of ravens" because he puts puke in PUCAS (oopps...my best friend won't like me saying that..hehehe) Yes, I'm officially bashing Leyton for reasons that they can't stop being immature around each other. Improve this couple and I might just accept it.
Broody_4_Cheery lol. a second everything you just said. honestly i just dont get leyton anymore, and when i compare brucas and leyton one always gets the short straw (leyton) and i know leytoners dont agree, but if they dont see it so far they never will. i loooooooooooove Jeyton, in fact i probably use to love them more and before i ever loved brucas, but my brucas love has increased since sn 3. jeyton is another reason i dont buy leyton crap, i compare them and jeyton seemed more genuine, i really cant get over that leyton is just an idea, where as jeyton and brucas were two couples who fell in love and strengthened each other. i love the girl jake made peyton, he made her strong and independent, i felt that with him she was more confident as a human being. and jeyton and brucas were so beautifully written, if i could describe them in one word it would be beautiful, everything from their fights to their declarations of love and break ups. i just dont believe lucas and peyton were really ever IN love with each other, they love each other sure but not in love, i never saw them falling in love with each other like i watched the jeyton and brucas relationships develope. that whole season 4 leyton crap just seemed so out of the blue, especially from lucas' side. that damn book is used as some huge leyton defence, you know that quote about the basketball championship the one where lucas is all like 'every moment has been a denial of the fact i am and always will be in love with peyton sawyer' something on the lines of that, am i suppose to believe that? wheres the fn evidence, wheres the eveidence that at any point in season 2 and 3 that lucas was in love with peyton, or even in season 1 wheres the evidence he was in love with her more than just some stupid infactuation crush he has had since he was like 5 or whatever, and half of the fourth season he seemd so uniterested in her romantically. for gods sake she says i love you and he says oh! and they never fight for each other, if they really truely believed they were meant to be then surely they would have fought for each other at some point, any point instead of giving up so easily and always walking away from each other as if they dont care, i beleive deep down they knew that what they had wasnt worth fighting for. puh-lease i will never buy all that leyton crap. his books are just books. and the show is seriously messed up. its either the people behind the show are so set on not changing the original peyton and lucas are made for each other view, in which case they are not moving forward and doing whats best for the show, cause no matter how they write something sometimes it just isnt pulled off, or leyton is simply something being explored and is a distraction from brucas and mark is just not giving it away and knows that brucas is the future and leyton are not meant to be. mark'll have to do a lot to improve leyton as a couple, like i dont know somehow give them good sexual chemistry, give them something more than pretty words, have it seem they actually want to be together, and when they are together dont make them boring, and if he seriously plans to make leyton endgame then he has to work on having brooke have a undeniable huge love interest that can rival brucas, because the way i see it he's invented a world where brooke will always love lucas, lucas can love many a girl, peyton is indecisive, and brucas, jeyton and leyton have never gotten closure. oh the frustration!
eka-chan Have you commented on the link that one Brucas fan gave: The CW forum for Leyton if they should go on or give up? (LEYTON: End game or not?) I've read the Leyton comments and I can honestly say they struck me as something my bestfriend told me once. I respect those opinions because at least there are the mature Leytoners who explained their side and I can see where they're coming from. One claimed that Leyton is "an acquired taste" and that they connect in so many levels. Do you know Ally Mcbeal? Peyton always struck me as a young Ally and that is why I like her but like Ally, she likes to be in love, the idea of being romantically involved with someone. As I said in my article about "Ten reasons why Jeyton deserve to be together," Peyton needs someone who will keep her from shutting down emotionally and running away. Jake provided her security. Now I admit Brucas comes second to Jeyton. And some Leytoners agree that Jake was good for Peyton but he left so...maybe (I mean maybe) they stuck with Lucas because most of them are Peyton fans and they want their fave gal to be happy. I LOVE PEYTON...SO SO MUCH! But you can never compare Leyton to Jeyton. There is something very positive and sincere about Jeyton that Leyton can never surpass. But there was one LP fan who bashed Jeyton, claiming Jake...hmmm, "hindered Peyton's real personality. They look like some bunch of old couple together and Peyton is always inside the house and Jake makes her cry, makes her boring." Boring? You mean ACTUALLY HAPPY? ACTUALLY CONTENT? Honestly, how could that be a bad thing. Then the LP fan added, "Lucas lets out Peyton's real character." What character? The needy, desperate, whiny type who hurt her best friend and is a bitch to Lindsey? That is not motivating positive behavior. What is wrong if Peyton got mellow? She is such a drama queen maybe she needs that kind of atmosphere. What Jake and Peyton had is quiet passion that is boiled to the surface. And she CONNECTED with Jake than with Lucas. With Lucas, it was all "they're friends until they're not" and "they're lovers until they're not" crap and that is just not healthy. As I said, I love Peyton and Peyton needs to chill and lighten up and Jake made her appreciate the smallest things in life, never pressured her, just stayed and kept everything safe. And seriously, I never ever defended Peyton's bad behavior. She did betray Brooke because she's selfish and she was an ass to Lindsey because she was juvenille. Those are bad knock-outs for her and they're part of the reasons she's my favorite. I don't like PS fans who patronize her and put her in a pedestal (I think Lucas did that enough, lol.) They make Peyton into such an angel who suffered so much that it makes me hurl. Nathan is the martyr, let's leave it at that. Peyton is just emotionally unstable and ends up making bad choices when it comes to her relationships. Her strength is not making these mistakes but doing something to correct them. And she had. She evolved. With Jake's help. He didn't cuddle her like Lucas; he taught her that she's stronger than she thinks, just like her brother said. No fear. Then Mark takes a long shot and puts her into more unrealistic agony. The painful thing that Mark did is antagonize her more to those who hate her already. That is sad because Peyton is a very complex character. But Mark just has to make her too flaky and too Meredith Grey and that is not good. S5 seemed to be hard on her because of this Lucas shit that she doesn't have to deal with. I get it. Leyton is always there. Yes, yes, they love each other! But to be in a relationship that entails commitment and emotional supoort? Lucas is better committed to Brooke, even as friends in s5. Jake might have left but he said that someday he will come back for her. Peyton doesn't have to wait but she doesn't have to confuse and fool herself either with these notions about being with Lucas forever. Leyton exists forever but not in a romantic sense. Leyton is a beautiful connection but more of a platonic form. Leyton is filled with complexities and trappings but more of two people who reflect each other's fears, preferences and insecurities. Leyton is incomparable but not always in the best light. Leyton is both a bargain and a deadend. If friends, they grow but once they try to be involved romantically, they end up destroying each other. Brucas. I believe they could still be together. But Lindsey seems good for Lucas too. And Peyton? She can survive. She learned how to so why is she being so impatient and willing to settle down for the least availability? Because it's that, available? Like Lucas? Whenever he was, she doesn't want him. Then when he isn't, she wants him back. Really. This isn't working at all. Leyton is just not working anymore. Mark...dearest Mark, don't try making Leyton so epic and meant-to-be when all signs, seriously, point to the contradiction. Truth to be told, I like Leyton pictures. I collect them. They look so good and happy in the banners and wallpapers and icons the LP fans make that I collect them. But I look at these pictures and I see Ally Mcbeal and John Cage, Anna and Seth from the OC, Lily and Ted from "How I met your mother" hell, even Will and Grace (but the last two cited are Laley-oriented as well but i hope you get my point. These are examples of platonic love) and the Leyton kissing scenes seem..wrong. No combustion. Too awkward. Leyton posses the quality of strong "same sides" attracting each other but in the end "has to repel when a romantic angle enters." Two people can connect like Leyton and remain as friends. They have once. So, Mark, really, wtf? Broody_4_Cheery : (wow, these are long paragraphs. I got carried away. I hope you can share some Brucas bec. sadly, Mark made me slightly forget how beautiful they are together. Can you remind me again and make me fall in love once more with Brucas?)
Broody_4_Cheery i love your long paragraphs, doesnt make me feel so pathetic with mine. how to remind you how beautiful brucas is? their emotion is beautiful, their journey together has been beautiful as friends and lovers, their first date, their hidden hearts in season two with all those longing looks, lucas opening his heart to brooke and saying he wants to be with her, the way they struggled to be together season three, learning to forgive and love and to trust(touchy subject), that fight at the wedding, the way brooke let lucas go, them standing together at that window. oh and season five, that friendship beautiful, the emotion, the fact that even though they are not together they still mean so much together and they still are always there for one another when needed, selflessly. i dont think i can truely express in words the beauty of brucas, and then i'll see beauty where others might not, but the best thing i can do is share a youtube that helped remind me about their beauty, with their emotion, words and expressions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1_FvV0lFZM but in the end its not something that you can see, its not logical and can be rationalised, its either you feel it or you dont. some feel it for leyton and some for brucas, some for neither, some for jeyton, naley or a million other couples onscreen. i for one feel it when i watch brucas and jeyton, i love naley and want them together but i dont get that feeling when i watch them together as strongly as with jeyton and brucas, and i dont feel it at all with leyton.
eka-chan Oh thanks for sparking Brucas once again. The picture featured on this article is actually from that video but this is the first time I've really watched it. Thanks! And you're right, as much as love Naley since they've been so perfect for each for the longest time, I don't get much into their intensity. They lasted long because they were willing partners: Nathan is committed to anything and anyone he cares about (unlike stupid brother) and Haley is mature ad sensible (although she can be snarky when Nathan disappoints her.) I like seeing them ending up together, fighting and when all hope is lost, they get back together and be the ultimate end-game, truly. I feel a lot of these emotions with Jeyton, based on the reason that he changed Peyton for the better. She made her happier and stronger. I really cried when he left in s2 and it's so touching when Peyton said "Give me tragedy cause I wouldn't give it back for the world" when she lost Jake and still hoped of having him back. They were a great team. Leyton...Lucas just brings Peyton down, sucks the possible positive energy in her and saves her like shit as if she's that pathetic. She isn't. Now the anti-peytons think she is because of Luke's mighty "superman" ego. With your recommended video in mind, I'm gonna be rooting for Brucas. The connection they have is still there and they're two separate worlds that clash in one single point and I find that immensely indestructible. And LPers are wrong when they claim "it was just about sex." It was never just that. It was about surrendering to the most deserving person and at the same time, still living your life without being so bound by that person. Brucas had that: Lucas was kinder and certain and Brooke was wiser and more genuine. And yeah, the way they ended things? That was so awfully touching. They were mature and admitted that they don't have that kind of relationship (Whitey's and Camilla's) FOR NOW. It was high school and maybe in a few years, love can be established the second time around. I think they need to grow apart and they did and in s5, you can see they still like being around each other. Thanks for this, Broody_4_Cheery! Leyton may be the same worlds and want the same things but they repel when tests for endurance call their bluff. And they just want to keep each other to feed their own selfish desires. Luke wanted to marry Peyton so he could have what he used to have with Brooke. Peyton refused the proposal because she knows she could not have Lucas the same way she had everything with Jake. Lucas and Peyton getting married while sharing this 'epic love' is a great idea, Mark, but there is not development, no real trials they have to defeat so how convincing can they be as a couple, let alone be married? They never gave any effort to be together and once they are, they discuss about promises that will be broken or they angst each other until they grow weary and want to be the "epic love" they were (have they ever been?) The real knock-out is their concept of happiness together: BRUCAS: "Even if you can't be with me, I will be happy for you because I have you in my heart and I'm there in yours. And even if you marry somebody else or if I marry somebody else, you're the friend I go to for my good times and bad times. You support me and believe in me (Brooke) and you listen to me when I hurt (Lucas) I love you." LEYTON: "If we can't be together, we can't be happy. We are only happy when we have each other and we both know that. That's why I want you so much. I wanted to be with you so much. Just because I go saying no to your proposal (Peyton) and I said "I do" to another girl (Lucas) doesn't mean the end. I still want you. All the time. Even when it makes me sick and I cry a lot. Broody_4_Cheery lol. love that. what a coincidence with the video, thats prob my all time fave brucas video, the editing is great and it just has so much feelings, i rewatched it last night and it inspired me to start a new fanfic, im going to call it 'open your eyes' and have lucas open his damn eyes wake up from his silly leyton dream and realise brooke is the one who completes him. arghh leyton piss me off, they can be happy without each other but they seem to forget that, lucas was happy with brooke even though they had their problems and fights they were still happy to be together because they were in love, and lucas was for a long time happy with lindsay as well, and peyton hell she was way happy with jake.i havent seen sn 5 yet, just bits and pieces so far, but what ive gotten from it was lucas wanted forever and peyton wanted someday, istead of being a couple and having a discussion and sorting through their problems and maybe coming to a compromise (ever heard of an engagement? just because he proposes doesnt mean you have to get married in a month or something, sheesh some people are engaged for like 3-5 years, stupid leyton)so they just completely separate from their lives, neither one willing to meet the other, then comes the booksigning, peyton goes and then walks away, wow she went, big deal, she walked away too easily, if its what would have made her happy then peyton should have walked through the door and said something, atleast find out the truth about him and lindsay, let him know you care or something.arghh! and then lucas in true lucas fashion moves on and falls in love, and hes happy with lindsay and then bang Peyton isnt satisfied with her life so she runs to lucas (harsh maybe, but thats how i see her, something not going well so bang she has to be in love with lucas) and the craziness of season 5 happened, which from what ive seen just strengthens my believe that leyton are bad for each other and brucas are good for each other. i mean theres a reason season 3 is so popular, it was good, even if some people hated brucas they could still enjoy that season, brucas doesnt kill the show. the trifecta, Naley, Brucas & Jeyton love 4eva!!!

I think mark was trying to prove that nothing stands in the way of "love" and lindsey and Brooke were the problems.. which i think is stupid and lucas and peyton may have had something but you look at them now and go is this some sort of joke? Wheres jake? wheres brooke? Where is real love? not stupid they're meant to be together, so we have to put them together love...
