the rough fist chapter of a possible bl fanfic i'm thinking of writing. Based years in the future at Naley's 15th wedding anniversary.
They were standing so close that only a breath stood between their lips, her cheeks were flushed and his voice was low as he held her by the waist, his nails slightly digging into her skinny side. Brooke Davis glanced the couple as she walked by them in their secluded corner; she took in those few facts and sighed before going on her way to escape from the festivities.
The glass door slid open and she slipped outside, immediately sucking in the fresh air, it filled into her lungs and the ache inside her body grew stronger. Brooke wrapped her arms around her body, rubbing her arms and wishing that her husband stood next to her to offer his warmth. Her mind was still on Julian when she heard the raised voices from where she had left the door partly open, looking over her shoulder Brooke saw Peyton rip away from Lucas’ grip flinging his arm to the side “I am so sick of this act, get me out of here or find your own way home!”
Lucas pushed his face in closer, Brooke didn’t hear his words but she saw Peyton recoil and yell back “no I will not calm down, I don’t care if someone hears us”
From the party the music was still thumping out loudly, Brooke had no doubt she was the only one close enough to actually hear what was going on and she felt instantly guilty as if she was spying on her friends.
“Can’t you think of someone else for once in your selfish life” Lucas screamed back, “this night is about Nathan and Haley not you” and at his words Brooke stilled, she couldn’t believe what she was baring witness to.
Peyton tried to walk away but then she turned back, pointing a finger at her husband “you’re the selfish one Lucas, you say you don’t want to cause a scene but the truth is you just don’t want anyone to know-” she stops and places a hand to her head, “I just can’t do this anymore”
“One night, that is all I am asking for” Lucas spoke harshly, “for you to be there for your friends” and the couple stood unmoving, eyes never leaving each other, Brooke saw the stand still and backed up, she wished she could fade away and pretend she hadn’t seen anything but the moment was broken by Peyton once again spinning around and this time she didn’t turn back.
Lucas swore and his hand went up to his hair, he swiped his fingers through it until they reached the back of his head and closing his blue eyes the author turned his back to his wife’s retreating form.
When Lucas opened his eyes his hand fell away, eyes widening at the sight of Brooke standing outside in the dark looking like a deer caught in headlights. He gave her a regretful smile and slowly walked to the glass doors, he slid it shut behind him as he joined her on the deck, “sorry you had to see that”
“I have no idea what you are talking about” Brooke quickly lowered her gaze, her hands started to fidget with the clasp of her purse. Lucas chuckled and stepped next to her, “thanks for trying to pretend but you don’t have to lie to me” and he ended on a loud huff. He leaned against the railings and spread his hands out, eyes gazing over the view. He could feel the wheels turning in Brooke’s mind but was thankful when she asked no questions and simply looked out at sky as well.
They stood together for minutes before either one spoke, Lucas tilted his head towards her and spotted the large diamond on her left hand, “I didn’t see Julian earlier” and he wanted to take the question back when he saw the way her eyes glazed over looking so utterly vulnerable all he wanted to do was pull her in his arms and take the pain away.
“That would be because he’s not here” she lifted her chin up and sucked in another long breath, the chill stung her wet eyes and she blinked away the tears, “he is never here” she added on more quietly, her tone laced with fake self mockery.
“He’s an idiot” Lucas assured her and he turned to lean his side on the railing so he could face his friend. He took the chance to look her up and down, like always Brooke was stunning, she wore vulnerability like a designer dress with grace and beauty. Tonight her dark hair was pinned up at the back with a diamond clip, two loose waves framed her face, the strapless dress showed off her smooth pale shoulder and clung to the gentle curve of her bosom and all the way down to her thighs were it ended inches above her knees, the material seemed to cling in the best way and it was blacker than the night sky which covered them as they stood alone. Something inside Lucas pricked at him but he ignored it, inching closer Lucas saw her shiver and quickly draped his won jacket over her shoulders and covered her hand with his own, “anyone who would leave you alone is an idiot”
“Well I’m glad someone thinks so” Brooke smiled and Lucas saw straight through her. Not removing his hand he whispered to her, “it’s not what you expect”
She quickly snaps her head up, her eyes curious and confused, her eyebrow quirked up against her will and Lucas shrugged one shoulder, “marriage” he answered, “you think it’s going to only make everything… better but then” and he ends with another shrug.
Brooke nods in understanding, “all the problems would just go away instead they just get that much bigger”
“I love my life don’t get me wrong but sometimes I think that we rushed into so much all at once and…”
“Now it’s like you missed a step and can’t find your footing” Brooke finished, she couldn’t meet his eyes. They were breaking the unspoken rule, the one where they smiled and pretended their lives are everything they ever wanted them to be and the thing was they were, and yet they both still felt like it wasn’t enough. Something was missing.
Lucas gave a grim smile, “exactly” and her fingers twitched under his, he looked at where his tanned hand covered hers, warmth radiated from her body and made its way up his arm and suddenly butterflies filled his stomach. The odd feeling caused Lucas to frown but he needed move his hand, Brooke seemed completely unaware that they were touching at all, her face was turned to the distance and Lucas saw the tear that hung to the corner of her eye.
He could barely hear her speak when she nervously continued, “I wish I could say I love my life, the truth is I’m not so sure. Luke, do you ever wonder if we chose the right paths? That maybe we got it wrong?” and her voice broke. Unable to bare hearing the pain in her voice Lucas raised his free hand and lifted it to her cheek, he gently turned her face to look at him and her eyes blinked before setting a steady gaze into his.
One foot gapped the distance between them and Lucas lowered his head slightly, “don’t cry”
Her face screwed up and he ran his thumb under her eye and wiped away the stream of tears that fell. Brooke gave a broken, “I’m sorry” and tried to turn away but Lucas took hold of the hand under his and cupped her face and suddenly their eyes met again and the thought of moving vanished from both their minds. There was a beating of drums between them, their hearts suddenly skipped a beat and then fell into a fast paced rhythm as Lucas’ slowly lowered his head even more.
Brooke felt her eyes shut, “what are you doing?” she asked, fear causing her whole body to shake and a shiver ran up her spine as she felt his breath hovering near her lips and something pooled deep into the centre of her.
“I don’t know” he whispered against her a millisecond before his lips touched hers. Neither one moved, their lips remained closed against each other, and then Lucas closed his eyes and opened his mouth and moved in closer, the next time his lips opened against her his tongue poked out grazing Brooke’s lips and she gave a moan though no one could tell if it was in encouragement or distress. Lucas remained slow, he tilted his head to the side and the hand that had been cupping her face slid down to her neck, his fingers curled around its slender length and the heavy beat of her pulse burned hot under his touch. Lucas groaned and deepened the kiss, as she remained unmoving, his tongue darted out again its tip parting her lips and all of a sudden Brooke gasped, her mouth opening and Lucas squeezed her arm as he dragged her closer. Their bodies crashed together, Brooke dropped her purse and it clattered to the ground unnoticed, her hand instead clung to the back of Lucas’ shirt.
Heat poured between them, Lucas started taking steps forward forcing Brooke backwards until she hit the brick wall of Nathan and Haley’s house. Finally they let go of each other’s hand, Lucas’ one holding her hip instead as Brooke used hers to hold onto his shoulder.
Moaning against his lips Brooke arched her body into his and Lucas ran his hand quickly down from her hip and to the back of her thigh, he wrapped his arm around her and hitched her up which pushed their bodies closer together. Brooke gasped as she made contact with his hard arousal, her head flung back and his lips trailed down her throat finding her pulse and sucking, as the sensation travelled all the way down to her toes Brooke shuddered her body rocking against him.
Something snapped between them and Lucas moved her face back to his, claiming her mouth in a searing kiss, his left hand gripped her arm painfully but he couldn’t let go. He spread his legs and fitted her more comfortably against him and the movement forced her to half wrap her legs around him, which racked the bottom of her dress up. His right hand slipped under the material and Lucas moaned when he felt the dampness that greeted him when his fingers found what they were searching for, he cupped his hand over her and she shuddered against him again except this time Lucas wouldn’t break the kiss.
They were so lost in each other Brooke could barely breathe, there were bells ringing in the back of her head telling her it was wrong but she couldn’t remember why. Her heart was so much louder as it beat against her chest, pounding inside her with more fiery passion than she could remember since… her body twitched, the kiss became softer and for a moment they opened their eyes and looked at each other. Brooke realised she hadn’t felt like this since the last time with Lucas. Memories came back to her, Lucas and Julian melded into one person, the hate and love, the anger and disappointment. Her brow creased and Lucas looked down on her as if he had only just realised who he had pinned against the wall.
She could taste him on her lips, smell him on her skin, feel him against every area of her body and Brooke wanted to push away. Instead she leaned forward and broke the tense moment with an angry kiss, she bit his lip and the metallic twang of blood made her kiss him even harder. For a moment Lucas didn’t react but as she moved against him he could only remain passive for so long, her kiss was begging for a response and he eagerly met her emotion for emotion.
Fingers curled into her, Lucas moved his hand against Brooke and snagged his fingers into the straps of her panties and pulled down. The fabric fell away to the grown as he ripped it off her, one finger slipped inside her as they both gasped as if coming home. When he teased her with his thumb Lucas pushed his lower half against her and she wiggled impatiently in his arms, unconsciously asking for more.
Arms roped around his neck and Lucas kissed his way to the spot behind her ear, she continued to move against him even as he removed his hand and quickly unbuckled his belt.
The sound echoed in Brooke’s mind but she barely noticed, she couldn’t think only feel, the zip going down was just another noise to her. In fact when Lucas returned to touch her she was only half aware that he’d ever left, his fingers brushed against her and he sighed against her mouth unable to fathom what was actually taking place even as he pushed her thighs apart moved in even closer. His body surged against hers and he pulled her down as he pushed forward, his aching erection slipped pass her sleek barrier and slammed home.
Brooke’s eyes flew open dilating as her body painfully hit the wall at her back as her insides were being filled by the sharp, forceful invasion from the front. Her body was assailed by the dual ecstasy of both pleasure and pain, she opened her mouth and Lucas only deepened the kiss as he pulled slightly back before ramming forward again. Brooke followed the move as her body fought him leaving her but he gripped her hips and kept her still as he repeated the move again, over and over until they were both panting and unable to hold back he let her go and they gave into the wild burning inside them.
Sometime in the frenzy Lucas’ jacket had fallen to the ground as well as the clasp that had tied Brooke’s hair up, now it fell in a tangle around her and Lucas twisted it around his fingers as he continued to pump inside her while Brooke leaned her back against the wall and used it to lever herself up as she moved up and down, back and forth, she cried out when it grew even faster, he jerked roughly inside her and her nails dug into the middle of his back where she’d pulled his shirt out, his skin pierced a small trickle of blood ran down as her nails scratched down.
Lucas sucked her bottom lip into his mouth as he gave one final thrust, deep inside her he let himself go and spilled all that he was, aftershocks ran through his body and as he felt himself come down form the high he snuck a hand between them and touched Brooke, his lover, the word span around in his head while still buried deep inside her he teased her with his thumb and she splintered apart in his arms.
A breathless scream broke free from the brunette and she fell forward, her head resting on his shoulder.
They stayed like that until they caught their breathes, still panting Lucas leaned back and realised his hand was still entangled in her hair, he pulled her face away and brushed the hair from her sweaty face. Her face was flushed, her eyes sparkling and her lips swollen, she was still panting though more controlled and her pupils were darting around as she searched his face. He gave a little laugh and kissed her lips, and then surrounded by their heat Brooke felt something cold against her skin. She broke the kiss and pulled back grabbing his hand she closed her eyes to get the sight of his wedding ring from her mind.
“No” she whispered. What have I done? “No” she spoke more forcefully and dropped his hand, she pushed against his chest and Lucas faltered back, his body slipping from hers she felt the life get sucked out of her as she found herself suddenly empty with the winter air between their bodies.
If anything she was fast cooling own as reality came back to her, she looked at the man in front of her in horror, denial ran though her “don’t touch me” she yelled moving along the wall even though they were no longer touching.
“I-” Lucas stopped, he ran a hand through his hair and Brooke lowered her gaze, she flinched, Lucas quickly lifted his pants back up from where they’d fallen under his arse, restricted by the tightness of his belt which hung loose, he buckled it back up ignoring the rest of his appearance.
She still looked at him horror, he tried to step towards her but she stepped backwards, “Brooke, I am sorry, so sorry, I don’t know… what came over me” he looked around searching for something but unsure what and stayed looking away as Brooke straightened her dress and smoothed it down over her hips, he couldn’t help but think that it was hopeless, nothing could remove the rumpled look and even as she fixed her hair Lucas knew that someone only had to look at her face to know what she’d been doing. “I-” he tried again but she gave him a glare and interrupted with a hard “don’t”
She shook her head gave her hair and dress a quick check, still unsatisfied and frowned when Lucas came closer, he kept his eyes averted as he bent down and retrieved his jacket before once again wrapping it around Brooke.
One by one he did up the buttons, all too aware that Brooke closed her eyes and held her breath the entire time.
“Thankyou” she whispered as he stepped away.
They stared at each other some more and Brooke was the first one to break the silence “this was a mistake, I love my husband” and even she heard the way she faltered on the last word but Lucas just nodded, looking more broody than she’d ever seen him.
“You love your wife” she added on and when he went to speak she held up a hand “that wasn’t a question, you love Peyton, she loves you and me and oh god” Brooke cut off her own words by covering her mouth. Turning her back to Lucas she buried herself deeper into his jacket, feeling guilty about how her senses pricked up at the smell of his aftershave and about the tingle that went straight to her heart when he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her from behind, “it’s okay” he told her.
“It is not okay, it is so far from okay” she screamed and turned back to face him but that only reminded her of the situation as his arms hugged her to him. It felt so safe, so right, that she could almost forget why it was so wrong “we have just made the biggest mistake of our lives, I am married and you are married to my best friend and you have a family, a family, Luke, I just… I just screwed over my best friends family” and then her eyes turned accusing “and what the hell were you doing?”
“Sorry isn’t good enough, sorry doesn’t fix this”
“You were right there with me” he flung back and Brooke knocked his hands away form her, she looked up at him and tears ran down her face.
“And I hate myself for that” she cried and tried to spin around to leave. Lucas reached out for her hand, grabbing her wrist instead as she turned away, he opened his mouth and spoke without thinking “Pretty Girl-” and in a flash she was spinning back around and her hand was stopping anything else he’d been trying to say when her palm met his cheek. The slap echoed between them and he let her go, she stumbled back “do not call me that”
For a second they stared at each other, their history and now present standing between them, Brooke was panting again this time in anger. And she had thought the days of Lucas breaking her heart were over, she went to say something but closed her mouth and turned around instead.
She walked over to the glass doors, the sound of the music still coming loudly from the party reminding her that dozens of Tree Hill residents were just a floor away. Lucas followed silently, Brooke could feel him staring at her and kept her eyes on the ground but when she reached the doors she went to open it and looked up.
In that moment she froze, her hand fell back to her side and she felt more guilt pile up as a pair of eyes met hers across a hallway before lifting to peer at Lucas behind her. Brooke saw those eyes take in the scenario, her in Lucas’ jacket with tears in her eyes and a flushed face, messy hair and swollen lips combined with Lucas who still had his shirt out of his pants.
Though it was the look of guilt in their eyes that really gave them away, and Brooke knew the moment it all clicked into place for their silent observer.
