you want your image on a separate layer not background if it does this your best opening a new project at any size and copy and pasting your image in

ok wait.. first i open up the photo? then i make a 'new' photo file that is whte? then i drag the image to the file?

theres a button on the top line that says prtsc that one is print screen then you paste it in paint thats for the printscreens
