Cal sat in his desk. He was supposed to be doing paperwork, but instead he was looking off into space. He was thinking about Alec, and his drug addiction. It just didn’t add up. Cal rubbed his head and looked up as someone entered his office. It was Foster.
    Cal was unsure about Foster. Alec was fondling with some woman, and Foster was okay with it. She thought she was his drug therapist, but Alec was too friendly with her. And Foster was oblivious. He had tried to protect her, and she pushed him away.
    “Hey,” she softly said, sitting down on the couch. Cal stayed at his desk. He looked at her. She was beautiful.
    “Hello,” he replied. After arguing with himself, Cal stood up and walked over to the couch. “What are you doing here?”Cal harshly said, then regretted it. He didn’t want to be mean; it just came out like that.
    “Nothing much, I’m about to leave,” Foster took the subtle hint and stood up.
    “Wait,” Cal put a hand on her arm. “I’m sorry, don’t go,” his expression softened, and Foster stared into his eyes. She sat back down on the couch. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind. Sorry,” he repeated.
    “I get it,” Foster said, and leaned back into the cushions. Cal did the same. They stared at each other for a while. Unconsciously, the two leaned towards each other, staring into each other’s eyes. They needed each other, and both knew it.
    Finally, only inches apart, they closed their eyes and kissed lightly. Cal put a hand on the back of Foster’s head and brought it closer to him. Foster traced a hand along Cal’s back. Foster leaned back into the couch, and Cal followed. They broke apart and looked at each other. They kissed again, and Foster began to remove Cal’s jacket.
    “Gillian?” A voice asked. Cal and Foster sat up and looked at the figure in the doorway. Alec stood there, a shocked expression on his face. “What the-,”
    “Alec, I can explain,” Foster babbled, fear in her voice. She stood up and walked towards Alec. Alec shook his head and walked out the door. Foster started to follow him but stopped. Tears rolled down her face.
    Cal stood up and walked over to her. He drew her into a tight hug. After a few minutes of sobbing into Cal’s shoulder, Foster stepped away from him. Without another word, she walked out of the room, sniffling.
