Christianity Question

Do you think a Christian like me should listen to rock music?

I am currently addicted to the band called "My Chemical Romance". There, when I was addicted so much to them, I think sometimes like this, "Does God wants me to listen to these songs or not?" I was also doubting if MCR is a part of illuminati 'cause of their lyrics from the songs.

Little by little, I'm getting wild on this band. But, I realize that they're the reason why I can pray to other people. And they are inspiration for me.

I really want to hear your answers so please! I hope you answer it. God bless. <3

So you struggle with this too? :( I heard my first AC/DC song on a road trip with my relatives, and I've taken a liking to a few of their songs. Some of their songs are worse than others, but if it's a song I feel I shouldn't listen to, I remember how, before Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven, God put him in charge of the music played in Heaven. Since Satan knows so much about music and what it can do to your mind, I try to picture Satan himself trying to tempt me with loving a song that would hurt my relationship with God, and I'm less likely to give in. I'm definitely not saying all rock music is bad, but yeah, we do all have to be careful. Hope this helped! :D

There's nothing wrong with that at all :) Unless of course it's satanic rock music then no that's not okay. There are some Christian rock bands, just listen to the lyrics, if they say anything bad or say something against God's word then that is not good. You listen to whatever you want to though what's important is that you love God, nothing else should matter :)

As a non-Christian, I don't understand.

What is it about rock music (or any music, really) that makes you think your god would disapprove of you listening to it? What do you think would happen if, for whatever bizarre reason He would disapprove, and you listened to it anyway?

like it wouldn't be christian approved if it's like something about hate or worship of satan blaphemy basically things christians don't like or things against the religion's teachings

The problem with that is that music is interpreted differently by every single person that hears it. There can be songs that are, seemingly for Christian values to one person, but another person will see it entirely differently. I'm a Pagan. I listen to Christian music/ I do this because I can find elements of my own gods, religion, and practices in it. It is being listened to in a context that goes against Christianity's teachings. So is the supposedly "Christian" music "approved" or not? The same can be said of every song ever made ever. One person can listen to a song and hear hate and fear, and another can listen to it and be inspired to follow Christ.

I Believe God does not care whether or not you listen to rock music, There is a mountain of good christian rock out there ! What God does care about is the message - Does It Glorify Him or is It A Distraction From Him ! Also be careful to avoid idol worship. While Chemical romance might be a good band.......They Are Not God ! Bottom line - He created you ! He knows what you like ! ........ROCK ON ! (but use wisdom)

Most of my favorite artists are rock bands, so it's cool. Just so long as you don't go over the edge; meaning completely forget about God and turn to the Dark Side. I mean, I listen to Kamelot and Three Days Grace, but go to church on Sunday, not to mention pray and read the Bible as well. You just need to find a balance.

Well its simple, does that music promote God or help others understand the wonders of God, if not technically you shouldn't be listening to it. In the beginning all music that Christians or Hebrews sung was to praise the lord, and that was what their instruments were used for. I personally don't listen to rock music because of the messages in it; suicide, depression, rebellion I don't think are things God wants us to think about let alone sing.

But on that note, its not good for you but its no different than alot of things people practice that isn't good for them, its not just rock music soley
