Cynthia (otherwise known as Cindy), lay down on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. Her bestie, Rachel, had invited her to youth group, and Cindy had enjoyed every moment of it. She had heard all about 'accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour', and it all sounded a bit cliche.
As she stared up, she saw people moving around on the roof, and she heard voices. She saw a young man, about 30 years of age. He had blood dripping everywhere. He was obviously exhausted, carrying that big log on his back.
She saw the guards march the man towards a hill, and then saw two other men carrying logs on their backs. But there was something special about the man with the crown of thorns on his head. Wait. What?! A crown of thorns. Ouch. That must REALLY hurt.
They arrived at the hill, and she was curious, so she followed. The roof went blank for a minute, and then she saw the man lying on the log, and heard his cries as nails were driven deeper and deeper into his hands. The she saw herself with a mallet, hammering a nail into one of his hands. 'No!No!' she screamed, but there was nothing she could do about it.
He was lifted up between the other two men, and she heard a crowd of mockers. From that crowd, she heard her voice call out. 'No, Cynthia! What are you doing?!' she thought to herself. But there was still nothing she could do.
Then came the darkness. She glanced at her watch, seeing that it was noon. What? Darkness at noon? Then about 3 hours later came the earthquake. She, like the others, ran for cover.
There was a flash and she saw a very thick curtain. Suddenly, it split in half. Afraid, she fled.
She went back to that hill, just in time to hear that man cry out in a loud voice 'It is finished!'
A few hours later, she saw some people taking his body down, and they carried it away. She sensed something special about this man, so she followed them. They took him to a garden and placed him inside a rock. What? A rock? Don't people get buried? Oh, well.
She stayed there for hours, as darkness fell. Two guards came along to guard the body. A big stone was rolled over the entrance, so the body would not be taken. The next day cam and then passed.
At about midnight the next morning, the ground shook. She awoke. She saw the guards, also trembling. Then the stone started to roll away, and the guards fainted from fear. Eyes fixed on the stone, she saw the man come out in all his glory. She fell to the ground on her face, afraid and ashamed. The man came up to her and spoke in a very gentle and loving voice. 'Cynthia.' She looked up. 'You hurt me a lot on Friday-' so this must be Sunday '-but I forgive you. I died so that you could spend eternity with my dad. I want to be your friend. The question is, will I be yours?"
At that the roof went blank. With tears in her eyes, Cindy hit her knees, and became friends with Him.
