What, in your opinion, was the dumbest thing Stephenie Meyer has done?

There are a few that I could list. Haha my dislike for Stephenie Meyer is because of a few things:

1) How she holds herself: She thinks she is so almighty it seems. She's so way up high on the horse, she looks down on everyone. How she responds to interviews, it's unprofessional.

2) She doesn't accept criticism: Her brother Seth goes through her emails and takes all the "bad" ones out.. to me, that's just irresponsible and selfish. Everyone should take some criticism. It helps you improve and in the long run become stronger.

3) Canceling Midnight Sun: Honestly, one of the most ridiculous things she has done. So unprofessional. I understand she was violated in a way, but that is no way to respond. She is doing this to her fans who have been here since the beginning.

4) The movies: Stephenie is so biased when it comes to certain characters, that it messes everything up. The movies seem skewed because she will allow certain changes that don't need to be changed and things that should be changed, they are left alone.

5) Designing: Need I say more? The engagement ring for Edward and Bella... it was created on a napkin? And it was turned into the designer on that same napkin. Again, so unprofessional. The ring could have been worse, but still... the ring was fugly in my opinion. There are plenty of other possibilities, but she had to create one of the worst ones...

I'll stop at five. I dislike almost everything about this woman to be honest. I didn't have the highest respect like most Twilight fans do, but my "respect" for her has gone downhill in the past couple of years. And sorry if this seemed really negative. :)

Oh, too many to count.

1. The fact she went ou into public, saying if Edward or Jacob went to her door, she'd probably marry him. And she has a husband! Imagine how the poor guy would feel! She doesn't love her characters, shes IN love with her characters.

2. It's just so annoying how she thinks she's better than everyone else. She holds herself in such high respect, yet when some puts down critisicm (like in interviews) she says something like, "You're reading too much into it." And she's saying that. About a BOOK.

3. She's so arrogant! Apparently she had the cast laid out before she even wrote the book! Plus, she compares it to Romeo and Juliet, made by shakesphere, which is now completely ruined!The moral in Romeo and Juliet, is don't follow your hormones or you're going to DIE! PAINFULLY! (<sorry, quote)

4. She's so immature! She gives out her email, then gets her brother, Seth, to delete anything that would make her upset! I mean, I can understand hate mail, but you should be able to prepare yourself from that, but I'm talking about CRITISICM!Critisicm that people actually tried to help her write with!

5. The fact she places herself into Bella. Notice how she looks exactly like bella, if you rearrange her face alittle. Think about it. Imagine, a skinner, younger SMeyer. She has brown hair and eyes, (the same length and stuff) even lips! She calls her pale, which SM is (but just a little) and is basically the goodlooking version of herself (even though Bella sounds uglier than my GreatGrandmother-and she's been dead for 11 years)

For me (besides what's already been said) it's not realizing what messages her books send out to young girls.

- How she is shown in interviews and in public. She has that You-adore-me-I'll-brush-you-off attitude that I really hate. She always avoids questions and is like, "It's just a book, okay?" to perfectly legitimate and logical questions. She practically has her brother as a guard dog, sniffing out her mail and whatnot. I bet he even blocked the ads for Vampires Suck on the television.

- The messages she sends in her books. There are little girls reading Twilight, you can't just post glitter fetishes and pedo wolves in there!

- The vampires sparkling. I'm sorry, but it did have Bram Stoker crying in his grave.

1. She thinks people don't realise that Twilight was just her stupid sexual fantasy which she made into a book. She places herself into Bella and lives an imaginary life. That's just stupid and sends bad messages to girls. She also said she would leave her husband for Edward/Jacob. Another bad message.

2. She wrote a series which is sexist and offensive to blondes. The girls never do anything (was said before) special, and the blondes are the bad guys (Lauren) and it's all full of blonde jokes (Jacob to Rosalie)

3. She promotes pedophillia, necrophillia and beastiality in her books. 'Nuff said.

4. She doesn't listen to criticism. She thinks she's on the top of the world and until she cools down a bit her writing won't get any better.

5. She compares Twilight to Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights. In my opinon that's the most stupid thing she has ever done. -.-"

I'm stuck between critisism response and having Seth go through her email. But I'm going to say how she responds to critisism.

I think it's probably the way that she symbolized the "love" between Bella and Edward and the message it sent to young girls. Let's face it, Edward watching Bella sleep was a creepy thought, and that would just make me feel uncomfortable if I knew my boyfriend was watching me sleep. But since Bella was okay with it, it told the brainwashable girls reading that they would be okay with it too. I know a few girls who ask their boyfriends to watch them sleep because of it. And the way Bella acted in New Moon! The "Oh, my boy left me here all by myself and I need him and I'm not going to be happy until he comes back so I'll just flirt around with my best friend in the meantime and wonder why he falls for me then do something totally dangerous so I can see my boyfriend in my imagination again!" UGH that drove me insane. New Moon is the reason so many thirteen year old girls think their life is over when they break up with someone when it obviously isn't. ~_~ I thought it was just a dumb way to execute "Twoo Wuv", but that's just me.

For creating such a " Mary Sue" character that girls aspire to be. Not only girls but some women. HOW APPALLING. I am not a feminist by any means-Hell I collect Disney Princesses. But if all girls/women were like Bella Swan the world would be even more pathetic. And for creating the notion that its " Romantic" for your so called lover to stalk you, leave you-then come back, watch you etc. NOT COOL. Also for giving Vampires and Fairies a bad name.

Lets see- Unoriginality. Black, Clearwater and Bella all in the same book. Hmm...I have read those names before in a book 100 million times better.

I haven't read the books, so... I don't know if I could really answer this, but... From what I've heard, the books tend to get more and more ridiculous...

Also... the message. Just... she's a girl who is in love with an abusive boyfriend who wants to kill her... and there's absolutely no reason for her to be in love with him. Then, she goes suicidal when he breaks up with her?

I just... I don't understand how that has SUCH wide-spread appeal.

Especially later with all the other stuff. Like the pregnancy and all that bullshit. I don't... I don't understand.

I live in Washington and what I hate is the appalling lack of research. Oh, sure, she looked up Forks for gloomy--and yes, it is gloomy. It is one of the wettest spots in the state.

However, what I hate is in Twilight, she has Bella thinking of driving to Seattle to a book store, south along the coast, then up North via Olympia/Tacoma. Not necessary and, if properly researched would have made it more believable.

For pete's sake, Bella could go to Port Angeles to a book store, or take a ferry from no less than four locations on the west side of puget sound/eastern side of the olympic penninsula. Hell, she didn't have to do even that: Kitsap County has a Barnes & Noble!

There is no cutting through Montesano to Olympia; I drove 160 mile commute from my home that took me to the heart of Grays Harbor county with that little nugget! That irritates me so much. If I am writing, and want a specific area for my story to take place, then I research it!

That and the total Mary Sue-ness of Bella. Geesh!

In no particular order:

1. Making girls dribble over the impossible fantasy of Edward's life resolving solely around Bella - shows she views real relationships unrealistically and unfavourably, and unleashes such a view on impressionable girls.

2. The scientific inaccuracy in explaining how Renesmee was conceived and not having the balls to follow her own canon and make her dream man impotent.

3. Not having the balls to have Edward and Bella's happy ending be without the cherry baby on the cake.

4. Painting a rosy, idealistic image of (teen) motherhood.

5. The sheer impossibility, according to her own canon, of Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. Wolves imprint to make stronger wolves to kill vampires. Nessie is a half vampire.

6. Not thinking ahead of how strange it will be for Bella and Edward to have a daughter who will be the same age as them for eternity.

7. The uselessness of Charlie and Renee. How did Renee cope with raising a child all those years and did Charlie manage to tie his shoelaces
everyday until Bella came to live with him?

8. Mr Banner thinking inappropriately about Bella. Why include it at all and if a teacher in her books has to fancy a student why does it have to be Bella?

9. Edward's helping hand to Angela and Ben's fledging relationship in midnight sun-just weird.

10. Carlisle changing Edward first.

11. All of the intended vampirisation pairings convienently working out perfectly.

well there are so muchh but ill say the top ones that come to my head
1. canceling midnight sun: there was only one person who leaked the sight and about a billion fans. that was selfish. also, people were already starting to lose interest so now all of her fans are bored
2. she is soo arrogant even though she's not even close to being as good as a lot of writers
3. she makes Bella a personalityless freak who only thinks about sex. it kinda bugs me how the entire 3rd and 4th book is just "I WANT EDWARD!" and how she hates parties, presents, and anything fun. she is always complaining and doesnt appreciate people trying to help her
4. it bugs me how all of the guy characters are in love with her when Stephany describes prettier and funner sounding girls in the book.
5. ok Bella, if Edward's been alive for 100 years and he never went out on a date, theres something wrong with him
6. ok im sorry Edward fans but BELLA SHOULD HAVE PICKED JACOB! at least he has a personality and a sense of humor instead of just repeating the same phrases over and over and over again.
7. edward sparkles... 'nuff said
8.after knowing each other for like 1 week its all "you are my life, you are my world, you are the reason i exist" that doesnt happen and if it does its most likely fake
9. Bella is a bitch to her "shallow" human friends because there not good enough for her. even though they are always trying to call her. also Stephany makes it seem like Jessica is a bitch when she is actually being smart! a good friend woudl be mad if their friend went up to dangerous motorcycle gangs and got on their motorcycle.
10. Stephanie also gave her no life in New Moon. I mean seriously, they were going out for about 6 months (at the most) and when he leaves she gets depressed? honestly, hes boring, whiny, and unoriginal. get over it.
11. WHO HATES GOING TO PROM? I cant dance but i stil love my school dances!! the prom scene is supposed to be the main part of any high school romance and her boringness and negativity ruins the entire scene >:000


and for the record... TEAM TYLER!!!! (hes the one who almost runs bella over with his car in the first one :))

I hate the fact that she's such an unselfconscious writer that she doesn't even realize what messages she's sending! She seems to seriously think she's sending positive messages to young readers who would otherwise settle for regular guys. Instead she's setting expectations too high and brainwashes her readers into believing that if you really love your boyfriend, you should let him control the physical and sexual aspects of the relationship, even if they clash with your own needs and desires. Oh yeah, and it's perfectly ok for him to make you feel embarrassed and bad for even having those desires.

I hate the fact that she refuses to listen to anything but praise about her books. She's a published author which means she's put her books out there to be evaluated - there's bound to be some criticism.

I hate the fact that she's such a narcissistic person. She thinks she's the best author in the world and she thinks her characters are the best characters ever because they lack intentional flaws.

And most of all I hate how she's using her -F quality Literature essays to relate her characters to classics such as Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights; books that she doesn't even understand and is therefore incapable of analyzing.
I also hate how she's completely missed the irony of Isabella's character from Wuthering Heights. You know, the girl who prematurely eloped with Heathcliffe against her family's wishes and warnings about his unreliable and abusive personality, because she was only attracted to Heathcliffe's handsomeness while Heathcliffe only thrieved to use her.
That's the real Bella-Edward relationship, Meyer!

The sexism.
She takes a heroine, named Bella Swan (already I'm feeling sick, as Bella means beautiful, therefore her name means Beautiful Swan, but I don't think I'm going to discuss the whole Mary-Sue thing)
and she moves to Forks, a place she really doesn't want to go, and makes her "look after" her father, turning her into the stereotypical housewife. Already, I am not amused. Then she introduces Edward, someone so perfect it hurts Bella (Oh dear lord) and we know he's a vampire already, because number one: IT'S ON THE BACK OF THE FRIGGEN BOOK! and number two: She doesn't exactly hide it. I've seen many books not give away a secret but still give clues that seem obvious when you look back on them, but with SMeyer it's just obvious from the start. Bella is instantly obsessed with him, because when he's not in for a week, she's all upset and bluck. This makes her a young woman who's depressed because of a guy. This makes me physically sick. She has everything, from guys trailing after her to people instantly knowing who she is as if she's some big celebrity to a family.
Now by this point I'm pissed off.

Let's skip a bit. Oh yes, New Moon, possibly the most sexist thing I've ever read in my entire bloody life. Edwardo leaves her. She goes almost comatose for months because of a guy, then suddenly she's okay again, you know why? Because Jacob, ANOTHER GUY, walks into her life again, and she goes running to him. Not surprisingly, as we find out later, Jacob is in love with Bella (yeah we didn't see THAT coming!) but Bella puts herself into danger just to see Edwardo and hear his voice, and ends up jumping off a cliff. When Edward comes back she keeps begging him for sex et cetera and is like "My life is sooo hard. I have the sexiest sparkling vampire boyfriend in tha WORLD and he waaants to marry me, but I don't wantoo because I want to f*ck him buuut he wont let me! Boo-flipping-hoo." No. Okay, just no.

Yeah. I don't like the anti-feminism.

I think the stupidest thing she could have done was letting her brother delete all of the critisism(sp?) that is sent to her. An author needs critisism to become a better author.

JACOB IMPRINTING ON RENE-whatsit. That was just uncalled for. Really, I shipped Jacob and Leah the whole way, and yeah.

She stopped making the Twilight series.But I heard that she is making a 5th book called Midnight Sun.

I believe there are several reasons, some of which may have already been stated.


A) Love. I think Meyer has a somewhat twisted idea about the difference between love and lust, especially in the "imprinting" that goes on. Imprinting is a compulsive, obsessive, infatuation that is completely unhealthy and seems to be portrayed as "true love" and being "meant for each other." Remember the Sam love triangle? Love wouldn't do that, lust would. I don't know, maybe Meyer is under the impression that lust is a type of love?
"First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don't think you lose your ability—or right—to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part is that, if you're lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to—that's the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options." -- Stephenie Meyer
From that, imprinting just sounds like complete, unhealthy lust which can occur over a prepubescent! Or does she think that "romantic love" is lust? Not only that, if she's confusing the two, it sends out an even worst message in her books.
B) The ending to Breaking Dawn.
"I'm not the kind of person who writes a Hamlet ending. If the fight had happened, it would have ended with 90% of the combatants, Cullen and Volturi alike, destroyed. There was simply no other outcome once the fight got started, given the abilities and numbers of the opposing sides. Because I would never finish Bella's story on such a downer—Everybody dies!—I knew that the real battle would be mental. It was a game of maneuvering, with the champion winning not by destroying the other side, but by being able to walk away. This was another reason I liked the chess metaphor on the cover—it really fit the feel of that final game. I put a clue into the manuscript as well. Alice tore a page from The Merchant of Venice because the end of Breaking Dawn was going to be somewhat similar: bloodshed appears inevitable, doom approaches, and then the power is reversed and the game is won by some clever verbal strategies; no blood is shed, and the romantic pairings all have a happily ever after." -- Stephenie Meyer

To be honest …. The way the book series ended like honestly I feel like she could’ve done a lot more or even better ! The movies after rewatching them again they were Sooooo MESSY &’ all over the place
