It's really sad to see the relationship of Damon and Bonnie receive so much OTT and unnecessary hate from the TVD fandom. I'm trying to constitute why so many people within this fandom feel the constant need to bash Bamon. But then, one day, a light bulb went off in my head and everything was crystal clear. The truth is, my fellow Bamonators, Bamon receives so much hate because the people who bash this beautiful connection are indeed insecure and jealous. And when I talk about Bamon haters, I'm of course referring to none other then the Delena supporters. You see, the Delena supporters feel so entitled, that they can tell other people within this entire fandom how to feel and what to think and that shipping any other ship other then Delena is absolutely proposterous. That it has to be Delena or NO OTHER SHIP. This just doesn't go for Bamon, but for Stelena as well. Many Delena supporters like to run around saying "Bamon will never work,", "Bamon is disgusting, ewww, no way," "There is nothing between Bonnie and Damon in the books,", "Damon and Bonnie have absolutely ZERO or NO chemistry on the show" (<i>which is the one I laugh at the most), or even better, the biggest excuse that comes from most Delena fans when bashing and undermining Bamon is that "Damon/Bonnie is like a brother/sister relationship in the books." Seriously??! Damon and Bonnie are like brother and sister in the books???? Whenever someone says that, most likely a DE supporter of course, I shake my head at their comment and ask, "Do you kiss your brother/sister on the lips repeatedly in a romantic fashion?"

If Damon and Bonnie were really like brother and sister in the novel series, THEN WHY IN THE FUCK DOES DAMON KEEP KISSING HER THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE SERIES?? And not only does Damon kiss her, ON THE LIPS of all places, he kisses her in a romantic fashion. I mean, come on! Seriously, the Delena fans will do and say absolutely anything and everything to undermine and put down the Bamon connection. EVEN THE OWN AUTHOR OF THE FUCKING SERIES (L.J. SMITH) STATED THAT DAMON AND BONNIE IS NOT A PLATONIC CONNECTION BUT A ROMANTIC ONE. Damon and Bonnie is a romantic connection, people. Even the own author confirmed this. And for all of you Delena trolls who are spying on this spot, don't believe me? I got proof:

"Hi Emily—

Thank you for your beautiful email. I completely understand why some fans get overeager—and especially if they think there is bad news for them. I hope that you will enjoy Midnight, as it is truly the story of Damon finding his deepest feelings for both Elena and Bonnie—and his feelings are definitely not platonic. In fact, to be blunt, without Bonnie and something that Bonnie does at the end, Damon would be permanently dead.

But right now I have to tell you something that makes me so sad and devastated—as bad, in fact, as I have ever felt except for when my mother died. It’s confidential, but it’s been so long now that I just can’t keep up a charade with good-hearted readers like you.

To put it briefly, I’ve been fired from writing the Vampire Diaries. And I’ve been fighting and fighting this since last fall, but there is absolutely no recourse. Midnight is the last L. J. Smith book in the Vampire Diaries series.

It probably sounds completely impossible to say that I am fired from writing my own books. But the truth is that they’re not mine, even though I write every word. When I was called by an agent and asked to write the vampire trilogy, that agent wasn’t from a publisher, but from what is now Alloy Entertainment, Ltd. And they are a book packager. A book packager sells books, already made with covers and all, to publishers, like HarperCollins—my publisher for The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle. And both these series were written “for hire” which means that the book packager owns the books the author produces. Although I didn’t even understand what “for hire” meant back in 1990, when I agreed to write books for them, I found out eventually, to my horror and dismay. It means that even though I have written the entire series, I don’t own anything about The Vampire Diaries. And from now on, the books will be written by an anonymous ghostwriter, just as Stefan’s Diaries are. It will say “Created by L. J. Smith” on the cover, but I am not allowed even to change a word in the ghostwriter’s book.

You might wonder why the book packager and Harper would do this to me. I am not sure either, but usually a book packager gets very submissive, non-assertive writers to write for them—not to mention that most of them, writers or ghostwriters, have had a lot of publishers turn their books down. Book packagers are used to do a lot of editing on their author’s books—because the books need intense editing.

But I’m not submissive, and I always fight editing. In Midnight, I had to fight to keep many Bonnie scenes in the book. I’m not at all sure they liked the things I was doing with Bonnie and Damon—they kept trying to cut such scenes. And of course they didn’t like Elena’s behavior at all. They want strictly Stelena books.

So last fall when I gave them the book Phantom, they didn’t bother to give me edits. Instead, I was given a letter addressed to the ghostwriter by name, telling her to completely rewrite my book. They wouldn’t even listen when I pleaded and promised to do Phantom as they required. The simply took the series and gave it to the ghostwriter . . . to write not only The Hunters trilogy, but whatever comes after that.

They have always tried to minimize my participation in The Vampire Diaries. On the very first original books in 1990 my name was almost invisible on the cover. And now they have my manuscript of Phantom, and the book the ghostwriter writes from it may even sound like I wrote it in places, because they have the right to use my work as they see fit. But the book after that . . . that will be pure ghostwriter. I would guess that they think you readers won’t see or care about the difference in writing styles and skills.

I have said this to another Bamon fan, and I’ll say it now. I had so many plans for Bonnie in The Hunters trilogy.
First of all, in Phantom, I had her showing a lot more emotion, grieving right along side Elena because—well, because Damon does something almost unbelievable for Bonnie in Midnight and he doesn’t get out unscathed.
I won’t spoil it if you don’t know. But they wanted Bonnie to have just put it all behind her—and with Bonnie’s character, I don’t think so! She is always completely openhearted with her emotions; even though she has matured so much in Midnight, she’s still Bonnie, who says exactly what she thinks, even if she hasn’t had a dose of Black Magic wine.

I wanted to write Moonsong, and give Bonnie an admirer who is just as sweet and even more naïve than she is—a pure white wolf with radiant blue eyes, who happens to be a werewolf with moonlight colored hair and the same blue eyes when he’s human. I wanted to show Damon’s surprising reaction to Xander the good werewolf (not at all happy about it—so much that he “accidentally” almost kills the poor innocent wolf) .

I also wanted to show how Damon rescues Bonnie from a vicious wolf-pack attack, and then let her fly away with him. And I wanted to show how Bonnie, who knows a little medicine from her sister Mary, helps Damon deliver Caroline’s twin babies when she goes into labor deep in the woods. But that’s one scene that I would have had to fight tooth and nail for, because even the glow that Damon and Bonnie share at seeing new life come into the world wouldn’t be enough for them to call it decent. They would undoubtedly have tried to make me cut it. But I still want to write it, so badly.

I even had the last book in that trilogy plotted out, where Stefan’s worst nightmare comes true and he takes so much blood from Elena that has to be taken to the hospital for a massive transfusion. He then decides to Influence Elena so hat she will forget his existence, and he does so, to Damon and Bonnie and Meredith’s consternation. I wanted to show how this affected each one of the characters, and how Bonnie once again begins to write in her diary, since Elena’s diary is also forgotten, along with Stefan. I like to write things from Bonnie’s point of view, as I did in Dark Reunion. But none of these things will happen, beause I won’t be around to write it. And I just can’t keep up the pretense any long with wonderful fans like you. I can’t pretend that Bonnie and Damon’s relationship will continue to grow as Damon learns to respect her as well as to love her. She has become “his girl” but I can’t follow up on that. I had to tell the ghostwriter that he would address Bonnie as “little redbird” when he speaks to her.

Sorry for the long rant, but the charade is over for me. I don’t know how Phantom will turn out, with a blend of my manuscript and the complete rewriting of it by the ghostwriter. But I dread it, and even more do I dread what the next books will be like. I’ve worked so hard to make Vampire Diaries a good series, only to have the unthinkable happen to me. And I have no one but myself to blame for not being submissive enough.

Lisa
L. J. Smith"

I'm sick of the Delena fans running around on all of the public sites and saying that there is absolutely no romanticism within their bond/connection when that is just not true; it couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm sorry but the last time I checked, you don't kiss your brother or sister on the lips of all places in a romantic way. Hell, Damon has kissed Bonnie throughout the book series more then he has kissed Elena! Damon obviously feels extremely comfortable kissing Bonnie, why he constantly does so throughout the series and not only that, HE MUST REALLY ENJOY IT AS WELL. You know, ancient historians always say that souls become alive and ignited and connected through a kiss between true lovers. Hence, why Damon and Bonnie have kissed so much throughout the series. A lot of Delena fans like to also use the lame excuse that there is absolutely no sexual attraction between Damon and Bonnie the the book series―and IMHO, it's a lame-ass excuse and it couldn't be farther from the truth. Damon is VERY sexually attracted to Bonnie, it is just an inherently "different" kind of sexual attraction than the one he has to Elena. The sexual attraction that he has to Elena is nothing more then PURE LUST. There is a distinct difference between being magnetically drawn to and sexually attracted to someone because of who the entire person embodies as a being and being sexually attracted to someone because of just what's on the surface, because of shallow reasons such as physical appearance, money, etc. Damon strongly desires Elena because of what she looks like, because of her angelic "aura" in which she was given after she came back from the afterlife, and also, because she has this "special" tasting spirit-human blood that is irresistable to all supernatural being, especially vampires; it doesn't go deeper then that. There are no deep-felt, genuine feelings of love and passion and desire on Damon's behalf when it comes to Elena. It's all surface, making their attraction very shallow. All Damon and Elena talk about when they talk about each other is how PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE the other one is. The difference between the sexual attraction that Damon has for Elena and Bonnie is that not only does he have a magnetic sexual attraction to Bonnie but he also has deep, real feelings inside of himself for Bonnie. With Elena, he does not. Damon's sexual attraction to Bonnie is about Bonnie's essence, her entire being, who she is, everything that she embodies as a whole. That is Damon's sexual attraction to Bonnie; it so much deeper than the attraction that he has for Elena, which is all about what is on the surface, ON BOTH SIDES. Damon may think he has deep feelings for Elena, but it's his mind/ego telling him this and in a rather obsessive manner, I shall add.

All of the excuses made up by the Delena fan base to undermine Bamon is just getting beyond tired and old. I've seen all of the excuses made by the Delena fan base and either none of them make absolutely any logical sense or they are just not true whatsoever. The problem with most of the Delena fan base is that they cannot come up with ONE good, solid and logical reason or argument as to why Bamon would not be a good pairing. All I see is them constantly bashing Bamon in such a shallow and useless manner. You want to know why they do this? Because they can't find any logical reason or explanation as to why Bamon wouldn't be a good pairing. It's because somewhere deep down in themselves, they do believe that Bamon has a great amount of potential to be an excellent and exceptional pairing if given the opportunities to be explored in both the books series and on the TV show.

What also makes me laugh my head off is when the Delena supporters constantly try to underestimate and undermine the palpable, intangible, hot, sizzling and intense chemistry between Ian Somerhalder & Katerina Graham. Why do they always feel the need to say that Ian and Kat have no chemistry? If I didn't know any better, the idea that they constantly try to repeat themselves and advocate on all of the public forums that Ian and Kat DON'T have any on-screen chemistry, the more I start to realize and understand that many DE supporters do believe and think that Ian and Kat have great on-screen chemistry. They are purely insecure IMHO. They can't handle the fact that Ian does have chemistry with another female actress on this show that ISN'T Nina Dobrev, because they can't imagine anything else taking over their precious Delena/Nian ships (which IMO, is nothing more then an illusion on the part of the Delena and Nian supporters). Here is the bottom line. Two actors on screen either have chemistry or they don't. And IMHO, Ian and Kat have tons of chemistry. They ooze chemistry. If I'm being honest, Ian/Nina don't have as much chemistry as everyone thinks. The reason why it seems as though Ian and Nina have chemistry is because the TVD fandom has created this illusion of them having this spectacular chemistry when in reality, many of their scenes, from my point of view, are rather dull in nature and fall flat.

Ian and Kat magnetize me on-screen, I literally want to watch absolutely every single interaction and scene that these two actors are in, because they draw you to the scene. Their magnetism onscreen together pulls you in like a magnet. Ian and Kat on-screen are absolutely scorching hot and I really don't care what the Bamon haters have to say. FACTS ARE FACTS. And the fact is that out of all of the actresses on TVD, Ian has the BEST onscreen chemistry with Katerina Graham. The Bamon haters and the Delena nutzos can deny it all they want, but it's not going to change what is the actual reality. But aside from all of the above, the MAIN reason why Bamon receives so much hate in the first place is purely about insecurity. Insecurity on the Delena supporters behalf. They know that Bamon is a huge threat to their ill-fated ship so therefore, they feel the need to project all of their hatred and anger onto Bamon and the Bamon fan base by being in denial and being delusional at the same time. It's really sad to watch most of the Delena fan base whither away in such insecurity and denial and on top of that, feeling the incessant need to project all of it onto the Bamon connection and most of all, onto Bamon supporters and the Bamon fan base.

They are insecure regarding Bamon because they know that Delena is a doomed from the start ship that has absolutely no chance of success. They know it, they just can't admit it, so they choose to live in denial and project it at other people within this TVD fandom. It's really such a shame. Because the truth is, if Delena fans are so confident in their ship, then why do they feel the constant need to bash and undermine both Stelena and Bamon? If they really believe that Delena is such a healthy and good relationship to begin with, then why all of the unnecessary hate and useless bashing of two ships in which they don't even supposedly care about or support whatsoever? To be quite honest, I really do believe that many Delena shippers are in the closet Bamon supporters. They feel stifled to support Delena because it is the so-called popular thing to do at the moment. It's pretty sad, because when I look at the Delena fan base as a whole, I see a bunch of fans who can't seem to think for themselves (I'm not saying all of them but the vast majority of them that I see on the internet). They don't seem to have any point of views of their own, they all follow each other and support the same ship like a bunch of mindless sheep. When I ask Delena fans why do they support Delena, they can never seem to give me a good, clear, solid, intelligent and logical answer is to why they support them in the first place and why they think Delena is a good couple. The exact same way when I ask Delena fans why they dislike Bamon, they STILL can't give me a good, solid, intelligent and logical reason. Their reasons never make any sense or they are just a bunch of excuses and lies that they make up as they go along.

The bottom line is this, fellow Bamonators. Bamon receives so much unnecessary and OTT hate because of insecurity and jealousy on the part of the Delena fan base. I'm pretty sure that the DE fan base knows and understand that their ship has no chance of actual success, so that is why they act the way that they act on all of the forums and public sites. And it's really a shame because IMO, they really are overlooking the amazing potential that Damon and Bonnie have as a pairing.

Rant over. Thank you for reading.
