why do so many people call pointe ballet? i don't under stant and then when i try to corect them ther like no its ballet and then i just say im right your rong because i am the dancer here

Pointe is a type of ballet not all ballet is done on pointe shoes!! This year i did a balet dance on pointe and off!! They were both amazing and i loved them but their not the same!!

Pointe is a sort of spin-off of ballet. The first pointe shoes were just ballet slippers with the toes darned so they were stiffer. Loads of people know this, and so they link ballet with pointe automatically.

I have a simmilar problem. People call Irish dancing "Riverdancing" and that isn't right. Irish dance is a kind of dance. Riverdance is a show. Do people do "Nutcrackering?" No, they do ballet. I do Irish dance, not Riverdancing.

is point a kind of dance? i thought it was a hard toed ballet shoe, i wouldn't say i dance point tho, i would say i dance on point.

Well as you probs already know you can be in regular slippers or on those fancey painful pointshoes. When they start danceing on pointe they call ballet pointe as a sslang term. Basically saying I do ballet and Im on pointe.
Example: "Hey Brigette, sorry I cant comeover I have pointe after school."

Your totally right though Pointe and Ballet aren't the same thing just ask anyone who is only in Ballet in Pointe. All the dancers in the dance school say stuff like I have pointe after school because the name of the class is pointe and it's different from ballet.
