ThePrincesTale I hang around with quite a few people who are further left than me and boy have I heard some shit about idpol / pop-feminism / etc lol. I have a bit of a foot in both camps and am not entirely on board with how much they dislike it, but I see where they're coming from and they have some v valid points I do love the political side of youtube - gonna enjoy some hell world vids over breakfast lol. It's baffling that some journos tried to turn "is Cuties appropriate?" into a political partisan issue?? @Zan. Yep exactly. Feminism (= achieving equality for women) is ofc a worthy goal but the "women are superior" / men-hating type (which I think are actually a TINY minority but unfortunately sometimes given more a voice bc of social media) and the pop-feminists (with their empty performative BS) represent it so poorly. Gonna add another category, although it sorta overlaps with pop-feminism: "feminism" created by 'woke' white upper-middle class women whose entire focus is on "breaking the glass ceiling" for women to ascend to the very top of the economic or exploitative hierarchies. One of more egregious examples I've seen is this fuckin disaster of an article here: [url=https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/15/opinion/women-national-security.html?auth=login-google]The Nuclear Weapons Sisterhood[/url], which complained that women were “particularly underrepresented in senior positions dealing with nuclear issues" and lamented that government policies “involving the building, deployment, targeting and use of nuclear weapons have long been the province of an insular, innovation-averse group of men". Lmao the whole article is basically screaming that we need MORE👏WOMEN👏WITH👏THE👏POWER👏TO👏ANNIHILATE👏MILLIONS In all seriousness, this type of "glass ceiling" feminism is created by women who are already at the top of the hierarchy and who wanna make the last climb to the pinnacle. It abandons poor and working class women at the bottom. It's about getting rich (and usually white) women into positions of power... it's doesn't help the majority of women. There's still a lot of work to be done in feminism but it feels like pop-feminists and "bluecheck bourgeoisie" (using it from now on lol) sometimes focus on the wrong things.
