Sugar-N-Spice ~STORYLINE~ Monsieur D'Arque owns and runs the local insanitorium, and part of his job is visiting the elders once they hit a certain age to make sure senile dementia hasn't settled in. This is how he meets Grandmother Fa. D'Arque is a ruthless, cynical man, the kind of man Fa has spent her whole life hating. And Fa is outspoken and witty, qualities that D'Arque has always despised in a woman. And yet, much as they both loathe to admit it, they are drawn to one another. D'Arque, used to getting what he wants, does the only thing he knows how to - lies. He claims that Fa's harmless superstitions are proof that she is delusional and must be locked away, in the insanitorium, with him. Fa, instead of quietly going along with him or denying her beliefs, challenges him. She proposes a bet. If she manages to cross the busiest street in town, eyes shut, with only a lucky cricket to protect her, it will prove that there is some fact in her superstitions, and D'Arque will have to leave her free. D'Arque, morbidly thrilled by the idea, accepts. But as the date that Fa will go through with the bet approaches, she begins to have doubts. All her life, as a woman, Fa has had to repress her lust for challenge and danger, and the coming bet is her chance to finally let it out. But at the same time, she can't help but be tempted. Fa has spent her life in an arranged marriage, and never dreamed she would ever feel the kind of emotions she feels for D'Arque. Despite everything, she longs to submit to his will so that she can be with him. In the end, everything rests upon whether Fa will allow pride or longing to get the best of her... End; Fa's pride triumphs, and she wins the bet. D'Arque watches, trying to deny how relieved and impressed he is. But though Fa's wave is victorious, they both know that it isn't over. Grandmother Fa has won this time, but the games have just begun...
