Bonjour! So basically what I am doing is a list of my favourite outfits; but I am sticking to one outfit per princess. Also this only applies to the first and original movie; there are no sequels included. This article also includes Elsa and Anna. This is not a countdown; I tried to do one and it was too hard. I will also be talking about some of the accessories that go with that outfit, including shoes, jewellery, gloves, hairpieces etc. (There is only one outfit that Pocahontas wears, so there can only be one favourite. However I am still including her because I can still say some things about her outfit – why should she be left out?)

Sounds simple, right? Let’s get started.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Snow White’s Primary Coloured Day Dress

In the movie, there were only two dresses to choose from, and I thought this one was nicer because it was more cheerful; it had bright colours and suited her well. In a way it’s a little bold, because the colours differ from each other very strongly. But that’s OK. I’m not a huge fan of puffy sleeves but they look nice slashed like that, and the red on the sleeves match Snow White’s cute red bowed headband. As well as the headband, her shoes have bows on them, and are closer to the tame yellow colour of her skirt. Not a bad dress. Definitely an eye-opener for Disney’s first Princess.

Cinderella
Cinderella’s Iconic Ballgown

Bet this came at a surprise? I also quite like her servant’s dress, but I preferred the colours of her famous ball-gown. What colour is it, even? Sometimes silver, sometimes light blue. Silver or blue, I like both of the colours and they look lovely on Cinderella, especially her blue one which matches her pretty eyes. Though I’m not a fan of huge puffy skirts (I’m not a big fan of puff, on sleeves or skirts!), it still looks nice. The torso is pretty, the sleeves are OK, and the long gloves are nice touches. I don’t really like the thing between the torso and the skirt (what would we call that?) but I suppose that’s what they had during those times. All in all this famous dress looks very nice on the lovely Cinderella and suits her quite well.

Sleeping Beauty
Aurora’s Blue Gown

This dress was my childhood. I adored it. It had a floor-length, thin skirt (which I love the most in dresses), it had long sleeves that ended in a “v” on the hand if that makes sense, and the off-the-shoulder sleeves part looks nice too. The torso/bodice/whatever looks pretty, I like the lines going down for some reason. The triangle shape things coming down from the torso part to the skirt are nice too, and gives it a bit of an edge. This dress was unique, and I really loved it. The only reason why I preferred the blue one to the pink one was because blue is my favourite colour and pink is my least favourite colour, but they both look lovely on Aurora. The necklace and tiara makes the outfit more regal and majestic, adding a nice touch. This dress is one of my favourites, probably in the top three.

The Little Mermaid
Ariel’s Silver Dress

We only see this dress for a little while, but it is by far one of my favourites. It brought something new to Ariel’s wardrobe as we see so many borrowed components from the other princesses; the pink dress and the wedding dress are like Cinderella’s with Snow’s puffy sleeves and Aurora’s long sleeves, and Ariel’s blue day dress is basically Aurora’s peasant girl dress, just different colours. So naturally I preferred the originality of the slim-fitting, sparkling silvery-blue dress, which was very flattering on Ariel’s slim figure and was very nice. The sleeves were nice too. Add sparkles to simplicity and you get a beautiful, original dress that looks makes an already beautiful girl look even more so.

Beauty and the Beast
Belle’s Ball-gown

Is it gold or is it yellow? It kinda changes colour compared to the movie and the marketing, but nevertheless, this dress is one of a kind. Yes, it has the dreaded big, puffy skirt but I suppose I can forgive that because the ruffles and beading on it adds a nice, delicate touch. I like the colour scheme like I do on Aurora’s dress, as they use different shades of the same colour on different parts of both dresses. I prefer that to different colours. The bodice part is very nice and grand on Belle’s figure, I love the off-the-shoulder yellow, kind of see-through sleeves as they look pretty, and the gloves add a nice touch too. The ball-gown looks pretty on Belle, as does the gold hair-piece and it was nice and exciting to see her all dressed up.

Aladdin
Jasmine’s Red Outfit

It was a bit of a toss-up between her purple outfit and her red one, but in the end I decided on the red one because I think it suits Jasmine better. Well, the colour anyway, as the bold red matches her independent, fiery personality. It is very much like Jasmine’s blue outfit, but the top is more of a crop-top thing rather than a midriff top if you know what I mean, and it’s kind of twisted and interesting. Her earrings are much nicer, not as big but still flattering. The tiara definitely adds a nice touch, and I much prefer the high ponytail to the low one. It was a nice outfit and suited Jasmine very well.

Pocahontas
Pocahontas’ Dress

This dress probably has the shortest skirt in the franchise! It obviously makes it easier for her to run in, instead of one of those puffy skirts. It has a one-shoulder sleeve with tassel-things coming off it which is original and nice and there is a brown band around her waist separating the skirt and the bodice. This dress looks very flattering on Pocahontas’ athletic figure and suits her very well. The necklace doesn’t match the dress really, but it still looks really good on Pocahontas. The tattoo is pretty cool too! I liked this dress.

Mulan
Mulan’s Day Dress

"I'm here! What..."
"I'm here! What..."

This dress is the one she wears at the start, when she’s bringing Fa Zhou his tea. I prefer it to the pink one because it shows Mulan, instead of what she’s being forced to wear (well, we expect). The colours are prettier too, I like the red, green, yellow, blue and how they are bold. the different colours and shapes of fabric look like they’re wrapped around her and look nice and interesting. The dress is straight, floor-length and slim-fitting too. The sleeves are good; not tight and just longer than elbow-length. It’s a nice dress, quite simple, but pretty on Mulan as we get to see the real her.

The Princess and the Frog
Tiana’s Lilypad Gown

Yes I know it has the puffy skirt but I can let it slip like I have done for Cinderella’s and Belle’s. I really liked this dress; I liked the formation and ideas of the lilypad/rose/plant or whatever and I like the colours and roses and even the tiara was different but cute. It’s shiny and sparkly. I like the many different layers to it, and how the layers get darker in colour and different in shape. The flower at her waist is pretty, and I like how it sort of glows. There are no sleeves on this dress; something that is usual in Tiana’s wardrobe, but there are some light yellow gloves which do justice to the dress. The necklace adds a nice touch too. The colours look beautiful on Tiana and suit her very well. It’s a very pretty and interesting gown.

Tangled
Rapunzel’s Day Dress

"Then I'll stretch, maybe sketch..."
"Then I'll stretch, maybe sketch..."

Like Snow, Rapunzel has a limited wardrobe, but I guess I’m going to have to choose the dress she’s in for the majority of the movie; the purple and pink dress. (The other dress is a lighter one right at the end of the film). I liked this dress. It has the slightly puffy sleeves and the longer sleeves too which I have seen before in Ariel, but they still looked nice. The skirt was straight and I liked the colours and patterns on it. And I really like the bodice; it looks like it has a corset because of the tied up string thing. I like corsets, I mean, I’m probably part of the minority here and corsets are extremely painful, but they add a magic touch; a sort of medieval touch and make it more like it’s in a fairytale. I probably just made no sense whatsoever. The dress looks more traditional with a corset, there you go. It was probably the first purple dress, and I’m glad. (Rapunzel’s name means purple flower or something, maybe that’s why they chose purple). It looks like on Rapunzel.

Brave
Merida’s Blue Dress

Sorry, I couldn't find a proper one without that hideous hair-covering-white-thing
Sorry, I couldn't find a proper one without that hideous hair-covering-white-thing

I hate the Evil Queen thing she wears to cover those beautiful curls of hers, but when she removes it, it looks so much better and less painful for Merida. (How did she get it all under there, anyway?) The dress for one looks somewhat medieval, a fact of which I approve. The belt around the middle, the long sleeves, the rectangle neck-line-thing. I also like the patterns at the bottom of the dress, with the gold. It looks very pretty on Merida. Oh, and what’s this? Merida’s wearing a necklace! (Poor thing!) I wonder how her mother got that on her. Don’t worry Merida, it looks nice. You may not like me saying this but you have a very nice wardrobe.

Frozen
Anna's Green Dress

"I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face!"
"I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face!"

I'm choosing two dresses from Frozen, and Anna's dress happens to be the one from the "Conoration Day". It's an interesting and original dress, with the black, patterned bodice and the off-the-shoulder, short Jasmine-style sleeves. I like how the dress is like in columns, one colour then another then the previous then the next. It's pretty. It looks nice on Anna. I also like the necklace; the black ribbon and the single charm. Her hair looks very pretty too with the braid on the top of her head and the high bun and the three(?) ribbons. I liked it; it was very nice.

Elsa's Ice Dress

Come at me bro!
Come at me bro!

It's definitely original... is the dress made of ice? (only kidding, it would be too cold. oh, but then what was she saying about the cold not bothering her anyway? oh, sorry, back to the dress). This dress is completely STUNNING - it was the first thing my mum mentioned when she saw it and I agreed with her. It starts off with off-the-shoulder, long sleeves of a see-through, light blue material, then continues with a blue (darker in colour) that goes down to the floor. It's straight and slim fitting, with the nice cape that adds the regal and majestic touch I love. It looks like it's covered in jewels or beads of some sort, and it looks very pretty. Her shoes are nice. Her braid is great; I love the little snowflakes in her hair. This outfit is beautiful and definitely memorable.

So there you have it. Please let me know some of your favourite outfits; I am always interested in other people's opinions. Please don't include harsh/mean/over or unnecessarily critical comments. I know it's pretty obvious I'm not good with fashion and I don't know what some of the things are but please don't make fun of me or something.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed my article! And maybe you agree with some of my choices? (Like the Pocahontas one, for instance?) If you don't it doesn't matter, of course.
Merci et au revoir!

P.S. Yes I did change my profile pic. Yes it is Eowyn from the Lord of the Rings; yes the trilogy is my favourite of all time. Yes Eowyn is awesome.
