Here's my quick list on the ranking of Disney Princess signature outfits:
13. Rapunzel tower dress:
It's the most generic dress i could have imagined for a princess, purplish pink, with motives and stripes and criss-cross stitching, like the designer was sort of confused as to which design to follow, and put them all in one. I'm not a fan of puffy sleeves either, and why there's this stripes on them, really off-putting. They could have done better with the color and design. Only good thing about the dress is its silhouette, very modest and flattering. I don't know if it suits her personality - it definitely is cheerful and has a nice flow to it, but it just lacks the sunny side of Rapunzel's warm personality. Do you think pale sunlight yellow color would have suited her? Something like a polka dot summer cotton dress, you know. Just random thoughts.
12. Ariel's pink gown:
Well, I don't agree that red-heads can carry pink shades and this is one example of it. Over-puffed sleeves, curtain-opened styled skirt, neckline is somewhere between off shoulder and boat neck which is confusing. Ariel looks so short and petite in this dress, like a kid made to wear her mother's dress. I like its simplicity though. I think the outfit doesn't really brings out her personality - her spunk, her energy, her vibrancy gets all hidden under this over-puffed design. I love her blue and lilac dress way more than this.
11. Elsa transformation dress:
I love the color and i just love the trailing cape of this grand dress. I love the sheer tapered sleeves and its off shoulder design. It's just over-loaded with sparkles way too much to let me actually see these nice details. The sparkles just kills it for me. I'd have preferred a side slit rather than this weirdly placed slit in front.I preferred her coronation dress much more - so regal like her. This dress makes me think of Elsa as vain, which is not such a good perception.
10. Jasmine's blue harem pants outfit:
I love harem pants!!! I love the turquoise/aqua color, it brings out the beautiful skin color of Jasmine. I love how it is so casual and gives off a sporty feel, goes with her energetic personality. It's not one of the modest outfits for a princess but i kinda like the outspoken-ness of this dress, like saying I'm not afraid of you. I think this fits Jasmine's charismatic, attractive and outspoken personality like a charm. But I just don't like the over exposed trait of this dress.
9. Belle:
I'm not really fond of superfluous dresses with too many added layers, the layered look of the skirt with bows running in the lower end, nope not that great on details. I simply love the upper bodice - off-shoulder design in sheer fabric graces her neckline with a simple button in between. I love the twirl of this dress. I love the flair of the skirt too. The dress captures the grandness of the moment so perfectly, well suited for a splendid date with Beast. It also reflects Belle's personality of favoring sophistication and grace but having a bit of extravagance in it.
8. Snow:
I love the bright colors combination of blue, red and yellow. I love the simple blue top but don't like the puffy sleeves at all. But I just don't like the high neck, it doesn't go with her gentle and kind nature at all, makes her look dominating (in a negative way). I hate the red cape too, i'm glad she isn't wearing it all the time, like it was supposed to make her look like a super-woman or something. I just adore the skirt and how it sways at her feet when she brooms or dances, shows off the cute peep toes sandals. I love how this dress personifies Snow's character - simple yet spunky, soft yet vibrant, peppy yet graceful.
7. Tiana's blue gown:
Not an original color, but nonetheless very flattering on Tiana. I simply love this silverish blue color. I love the simple straight A line silhouette of the dress with a sash falling off the waistline, giving the simple dress an elegant uplift. I love the tiniest of the trailing end of the gown and the subtle sparkling effect on it. I love the long gloves to go with it. I think the gown suits Tiana's personality as well with its simple cut and graceful silhouette, Tiana being the modern, practical and down-to-earth woman.
6. Cinderella:
The original silverish blue color of shining moon shade. I encaptures the true magical feel of a disney princess gown to the core. The hint of sparkly, long flowing skirt, graceful gloves, love the subtle puff of shoulders here. The only odd bit of this dress is that 2 flaps on her waistline, kinda odd, but given that the dress embodies Cinderella's charm, elegance and sophistication, everything looks perfect. A perfect ballroom dancing gown.
5. Anna's Winter Dress:
I simply love the color combination here, black corset, set off by soft powder blue full sleeves blouse with cobalt blue ankle length skirt. The deep violet woolen cape is a warm touch to it. I simply love the little pom-poms hanging from the cape. I love the delicate embroidery in bright colors on corset neck and the hemline of skirt. A simple deep-V golden lace decorates the waistline. I love the poncho style front of the cape with a royal brooch. Although it is a bit mature and sophisticated for Anna's style, but i love how it set-off Anna's copper golden hair and has a cheerful note to the dress.
4. Mulan's Green Hanfu/Kimono Fusion Dress:
I love the simplicity of its dress! The layering and the color combination is lively and refreshing to see - with blue, green and pale yellow, with a red waistband. I like the different layering of the dress with vivid hemline, a deep-V collar style. I love the tall look of the dress in A line silhouette. A perfect representation of chripy, feminine yet humble and mature nature of Mulan.
3. Pocahontas:
I love this dress! So beautiful and smart altogether. I love the detailing on this dress with threaded asymmetrical hem and neckline. Love the one shoulder design. It not only is historically correct but matches with Poca's personality of free-spirited, mature woman of her own making. A simple nature dress, as Poca herself is. The statement necklace is a killer!
2. Merida:
Oh i love this forest green color. I love the heavy sway of the dress, not a flair but a drop kind of sway at the base. I love the simple detailing on the dress and the feminine touches of golden lace on sleeves and neckline. I love the simplicity of this dress. Perfect for Merida - simple, not too feminine yet is, free-flowing for Merida's love for independence.
1. Aurora's Blue Gown:
I simply love the silhouette of this gown, the sleek structure, the A-line silhouette but the skirt opens up so beautifully when she twirls and dances. The long sleeves are so elegant and graceful, the pointy shoulders and neckline shows her gorgeous long neck. I love how this dress embodies her poise and grace and makes her look so tall and elegant.
Would love to hear from you all, as always!
