Which one will rise to the top this time?
Here are the long-awaited results of my trailer countdown. I was on holiday, went to Disneyland Paris, couldn't be bothered to make it. You know how shit happens. Should I put the swearing warning here now or leave it until later? Actually, who cares?
Ah, yes. Movie trailers. Everyone sits at home or in the cinema and sees a trailer. It's that little piece of enticing footage that makes you go "MUST SEE THAT FILM! MOTHER, BOOK THE CINEMA TICKETS! BOOK THEM NOW!". And as my mum always says, they put the best bits in the trailer so if the trailer sucks then the film does too. Or maybe that's just because she's grouchy and doesn't like watching films much. Anyway, moving on. This is the first countdown to include Tangled, because the trailer has already been released. Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only person that's actually excited for that movie. >:I
On with the results!
Oh, before I forget, all of these trailers are the original theatrical trailers and the link to them is available by clicking the name of the film. Because I'm cool like that.
Oh, animal friends, they hate us! They really hate us!
Snow White came last? What is this blasphemy?!
Well, it was 1937. How many amazing trailers have you seen that are that old? Fair dos though, it is rather sweet. It has this cute little introduction to the characters by Walt Disney. Still, it wasn't all that interesting. It was more like a documentary than a trailer. Though, I don't think people in 1937 needed much prodding to go see the first ever animated feature film.
"Snow White's is cute..." - PrincessLullaby
"This trailer is so dated... it was made at least fifty years before any of the others." - AllegroGiocoso
"I like the oldy timey ness of Snow White's trailer. It's cool." - Founten
"Why does everyone hate Snow White? I love her trailer!" - TheTrueNessie
This is all your fault, you drunken snob!
Poor Sleeping Beauty. Many people consider it to be boring anyway, but this long-winded dull trailer certainly wasn't going to make anyone jump up for joy. It wouldn't surprise me if they used it as a cure for insomnia.
"[Sleeping Beauty is] probably my least favorite trailer. It's dull & uneventful." - PrincessLullaby
"It's too long and drawn out." - firegirl1515
"Not as interesting as the others in my opinion..." - AllegroGiocoso
"Yeah, it drags." - TigerRanma
Why couldn't that Fairy Godmother spend more time on my blasted trailer?
Oh, what a surprise, all the classic trailers went first. I suppose at a time when almost all cinema was magical, you really didn't have to persuade people to pick one from a large choice. Especially seeing as there was probably one screen for a week and it was see that or nothing. Anyway, this one is very mysterious. Very short and doesn't give you any real information about it. It confused people rather than getting them interested.
"I wonder why Cinderella's trailer is so short... It's cute, but it's very short." - PrincessLullaby
And they think I'm the irritating one? Gah, did they miss all your scenes, Flynn?
I really can't believe this went out so soon! I had it down as the winner. It's spunky, fun, has a great song to accompany it and actually makes me want to get off my arse and go watch it. A lot of people didn't like it because they didn't like Rapunzel. I have a feeling some people voted for it just because it's 3D and they're feeling butthurt about it. Pfft.
"There is only one thing I like about this trailer and that is Rapunzel's pet. I wish I could say that I was glad when the trailer was over, but I just feel that every time I watch the trailer, my time has been wasted and a bit of my soul dies. I like Pink, but I've just never been much of a fan of the song Trouble. I guess Flynn isn't that bad looking, but I don't think he's that cute either. Then, you have Rapunzel herself. If she becomes a Disney Princess, then at this point in time, she's my least favorite. There's just something about her that bugs me. But who knows, maybe it will be a really good movie with just bad trailers. I'll try to stay open-minded until I see it. I'll probably have to wait until I get it on DVD because I usually love everything I watch in a movie theater." - VGFan30
"I love the Tangled trailer. It makes me lol so hard and I adore Trouble. Plus, that Flynn is getting better-looking every time I watch it. I love his snappy little "LOL HAVE FUN IN JAIL, LOSER!" attitude." - Straggy
"Rapunzel's little chameleon is cute." - TigerRanma
"The Tangled trailer made me laugh." - kiraragirl200
"I cringe whenever I see it. "She's been grounded...for like ever!" What in the hell? Tacky tacky tacky!" - kenzieiscool
Oh, I can't believe this! They don't like me, they don't like my movie, AND THEY DON'T LIKE MY TRAILER? Hey, at least I'm 2D!
There is something seriously wrong with the world for this to leave so soon. This trailer is so fun and cute. It has that wonderful intro with the other movies which I absolutely adore. It's so funny and really makes you want to go see it. There's just the right amount of mystery and it includes that wonderful bit with Naveen where he goes "Kissing would be nice, yes?" which I've been irritating my mother with using my Frog!Naveen cuddly toy.
"PATF's is really charming! (I like it better than the actual movie....lol)" - PrincessLullaby
"Okay, this is really hard because I grew up with pretty much all of these. They are my childhood and I think I'm going to be biased. Bye, The Princess and the Frog." - TigerRanma
"I don't understand the votes for the PATF trailer. I really like it! It's one of the more unique trailers... Beauty and the Beast's, Aladdin's, and The Little Mermaid's are kind of boring. Pocahontas's is interesting, and Mulan's is just great." - AllegroGiocoso
"PaTF is gone? Aww :(" - MadisonSavanna
"Why is The Princess and The Frog's gone? That one was so charming if you ask me." - AllegroGiocoso
But Aladdin, how ever will I be able to show my face at HQ again when all we beat were the classics and the newbies?
Oh joy, we've entered the world of the tacky Renaissance voice-over. Ugh. Why the hell did they think a guy with such an irritating voice telling us the whole storyline in such a cheesy way would be good? D:
That being said though, the rest of the trailer is rather good and this is one of the better Renaissance ones.
"It's fun and pizazzy, but otherwise very conventional. Nothing special about it." - PrincessLullaby
"Bland..." - AllegroGiocoso
*sigh* This would have been more successful if our trailer was produced in the form of a novel...
Personally, I think this should have gone out long ago. It just tells you the whole story and whilst it's interesting, you don't really have to watch the film to know what's going to happen. It sort of... ruins it. Damn trailers.
"BATB is very conventional and shows more the pizazz of the movie than the mysteriousness." - PrincessLullaby
What is a trailer and why do they think mine - what's the word - sucks?
This was incredibly close and only just went out in the tie breaker. The beginning of this is rather sweet and it's like the PatF one. It talks about Disney and shows other films and it has Ariel singing in the background. But then it gets rather cheesy thanks to Mr Voice-over. Plus, there are parts where they had to change what the characters are saying in order for it to make sense... And you can tell that it's not the real voice actors talking for part of it. I do like the end though with the big climactic Ariel splash.
"Little Mermaid is pretty in the beginning with the voice in the backround, then when under the sea starts, it gets sort of cheesy." - PrincessLullaby
"Definitely the worst!" - Anaji
"Okay...BLAND trailer." - AllegroGiocoso
"It doesn't make the Little Mermaid look like as great as a film as it is." - kenzieiscool
So long top spot... I'll miss you, although we've never met.
This trailer seemed to be either loved or hated by Fanpoppers. So Pocahontas is officially the marmite trailer here. However, there seemed to be more people that loved it than hated it.
Although it still has that tacky voice-over guy, the things he says are much more mysterious and interesting. The clips are really well-used as well and it has all the aspects of humour, romance and action. I also love how the clips match up to the timings in the song. It is rather exciting and I agree with it getting far.
"[Pocahontas is] very, very good if you ask me..." - AllegroGiocoso
prefer the Pocahontas trailer." - firegirl1515
"WHY IS THIS STILL HERE?" - percyandpotter
The greatest gift and honour is having you for a daughter... Because you totally made our trailer amazing with your complete lack of obedience!
Right from the start, people were backing Mulan to win. It's mysterious, much more so than the others, and THERE'S NO TACKY VOICE-OVER MAN! Oh, there is a God! Some people disliked the lack of humour, but I thought it was a pretty smart trailer overall. It got you interested and it just looks so cool and action-packed. This is definitely a result that most people will agree with.
"The Mulan one should win. It's mysterious, heartfelt, dark (as dark as a Disney trailer could be) and potent. I love it!" - PrincessLullaby
"I love the impressive background music in the first part of the Mulan trailer. The dialogue is more interesting too if you ask me." - AllegroGiocoso
"I remember how much the Mulan trailer pumped me up when I was little!" - dancing_dear
"[Pocahontas] included songs and gave you a sense of what the movie is about, whereas the Mulan one tries to make it look like a serious movie (WTF is this, The Dark Knight or something?) and leaves out all of the funny characters and songs. Mulan is often called the funniest princess movie- why couldn't they have put some of the humor in it, or explained the story a bit more?" - firegirl1515
"I like how the Mulan one is short and mysterious :)" - MadisonSavanna
Scarier than the undertaker, we are meeting our Matchmaker!
Gotta look just right for my loving audience...
