What's a Disney Princess?
What's a Disney Princess?
What makes a Disney Princess?

There are several points that make a Disney female character a Disney Princess;
She must be produced by hand drawing, she must sing at least once in her movie (in solo or duet) and she must either be born to royalty or marry into royalty or in some cases, both.

The OTPs

Princess Snow White, Princess Aurora, Princess Ariel and Princess Cinderella were all painfully hand drawn by the Disney artists and were animated to have at least one song meeting the technical side of their requirements. Princess Snow White, Princess Aurora, Princess Ariel were born to royalty and marry into royalty while Cinderella only married into royalty meeting the characteristic requirements.
This makes them the Original True Princess.

The CTPs

However the story is far from over as there are other princesses; such as Belle and Jasmine.
Belle was the first Princess who wasn’t just hand drawn, she was also made using a Computer Animation Production System or CAPS, developed by Pixar for Disney. CAPS allowed the artists to combine their hand drawn art with computer generated art, which made it a lot easier to do wonderful artistic scene like the famous ‘Tale as old as time’ waltz. This wonderful scene was made so beautiful by CAPS ability to create a computer-generated ballroom, put in the hand drawn dancers and make the camera mover around in any way they want. This process made the waltz almost seem real!
So in some ways Belle was hand drawn but was animated as a computer image… but she is still a Princess as she married Beast or Prince Adam as his name was released to be. So Belle is a Computerised True Princess.
The next princess under inspection is Jasmine from Aladdin, the only princess who is not related in some way to her film’s title. She is rather simple to understand; like Belle, Jasmine was made using CAPS and hand drawings, sings a duet with Aladdin and she is a Sultan’s daughter, which in Arabia, the setting, is equivalent to a king in Europe so his daughter is a Princess; a Computerised True Princess.
The last princess who could be called a Computerised True Princess is Tiana the youngest and newest princess. She might be set in a modern world, a new for a Disney Princess, but she is hand drawn with CAPS, sings and does marry a prince, prince Naveen. I will admit at first, I did not believe that this character could be called a Disney princess but after seeing the movie, I changed my mind and now happily call her a princess.

The CPs

Then we come to the difficult ones; Pocahontas and Mulan.
Both made with CAPS and Hand drawings, both do sing solos or duets but the problem with calling them Disney princesses is… they are not princesses!
Neither marry princes, or even fall in love princes and neither are daughters of kings and queens.
It is possible to argue Pocahontas’s claim to royalty, her father is the chief = leader for a tribe so on a long shot, she is a princess but in my personal opinion, as she does not marry a prince, does not have a determined royal mother or father, she is not a princess.
Mulan… she has no claim what so ever to Princess-hood. She isn’t born to a king, just a normal solider who became a farmer after the war and his wife. She doesn’t marry a prince but a general in her second movie. She has no claim at all to be a princess.
But Disney still calls them princess but I class them as Computerised Princess (not True Princess as… well they aren’t princesses.)

The questionable ones

There are some 'unofficial' Disney princesses who meet some of the requirements; Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan series and Giselle from Disney’s Enchanted cartoon. However; Alice sings, is hand drawn but isn’t born to royalty and she doesn’t even meet someone to call a prince; that is one factor that makes Mulan a possible princess, she has Shang.
Tinkerbell doesn’t need to be classed as a princess anymore; she has her own category, the Disney Fairies after the release and success of a prequel called ‘Tinkerbell’.
For part of her movie, Giselle is animated but then becomes live action………… Even Disney don’t count her as a princess.

The Future

So what of the future?
Tangled… Rapunzel. She sings, she is born to be a princess, she is…… COMPUTER ANIMATED. 100% computer animated. 2 factors out of 3 but the missing factor is the most important factor… can we call a princess who’s only spark is that of a computer? Snow White, Aurora, Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Tiana, Pocahontas and Mulan all have a heart. They were worked on for months to make sure each individual cell was perfect and detailed… they may have been animated by a computer but they were given life by hand.
Does Rapunzel have that heart?

The joy

In the end, no matter what I say, the only things that matters is what you believe and what you think in your heart makes a princess.

That is the joy of Disney.

This list does not necessarily reflect my own personal opinion but instead shows the results according to approximately forty voters per round. We'll work our way to the top starting at number fifteen...

Kida is about eighty eight hundred years old but doesn't look a day over 22.
Kida is about eighty eight hundred years old but doesn't look a day over 22.

15. Poor Kida. Her film was considered second-rate Disney by most and her looks don't get much appreciation either. To her credit, Kida is one of the most unique princesses in appearance and personality....

Since Mulan is princess of the month, here some thoughts about which flower fits her the best. The movie, after all, offers some choices. The most obvious one is the magnolia, since that’s the translation of the name Mulan.

Then there is the white flower Mulan wears in her hair when she meets the matchmaker – the same flower she leaves behind when she goes to war. I’m not sure what kind of flower that’s suppose to be. I first considered lotus (since the lotus is such a reveled flower in Asia and gets often connected to the gods), but a lotus has more petals. A white cherry blossom...

Facts about Cinderella

1.Cinderella is the second Disney Princess, joining the franchise in 1950, after Snow White in 1937.

2.Cinderella is the first Disney Princess to be seen as a little girl, before Tiana in 2009 and Rapunzel in 2010.

3.Cinderella's hair color has often been the subject of debate among fans. In the original film, Cinderella's hair seems to be of a light orange tone, classifying her as either a redhead or a ginger as her hair had been offically called 'burnt orange'. In the franchise and in the Disney parks,

4.Cinderella's hair is publicized as bright yellow, making her a golden-blonde,...

Even though all the princesses are pretty and attractive, one is just abit hotter than the next. So let's get started.

10.Rapunzel
I don't know if it has anything to do with the 3D animation but I just don't find Rapunzel hot. She looks an 11 year old and she's supposed to be 18. And her face isn't all that great either, her eyes are too freaking large.

9.Snow White
I guess we're not to supposed to find Snow White hot. She is only 14 but she looks a little older than that. Probably because she looks so tall compared to the dwarves. She's too cute and baby like to be hot. I like her...

Okay I'm trying to make a complete list of all Disney Princesses. To make this list the Disney girl must be either born royalty or she marries royalty. (So while Mulan is awesome, she doesn't make the cut) This is to include all princesses not just leading ladies.
If you see one is not on the list please comment.

Born Royalty
-Adella (King Triton's Daughter)
-Alana (King Triton's Daughter)
-Andrina (King Triton's Daughter)
-Aquata (King Triton's Daughter)
-Ariel
-Arista (King Triton's Daughter)
-Atta (A Bug's Life)
-Attina (King Triton's Daughter)

10. Megara - Hercules

She is drawn in a very specific, edgy style to fit in with her film's animation but still, Meg has beautiful purple eyes, pouty pink lips and gorgeous brunette curls. I find her quite beautiful although her body is the single most unrealistic which is forgivable since it's one of the cartoonier films.

9. Mulan

One of my all-time favourite Disney characters, she is never one to top the beauty lists. But I actually find her to be quite lovely. Simple but at the start of the film she has gorgeous hair. Of course the designers had to make it believable that she could...

As you may already of noticed I am a bit of a fan of the Disney Princesses and their films. One aspect about these films that I find really interesting is the kingdoms in which their stories take place, including the buildings and the general surroundings. So I decided to write an article discussing each Princesses kingdom. In this article I am looking at Walt Disney's princesses ie. the original three.

One of the more exciting polls I've made, I was actually pretty surprised by the outcome in some ways, and totally unsurprised in others.

9.Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
"Snow White, pursued by a jealous queen, hides with the Dwarfs; the queen feeds her a poison apple, but Prince Charming awakens her with a kiss."

Snow White in last place? Unheard of! As usual, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs makes its usual debut in last place on the countdown. Although a small percentage of the community loves this movie and finds it charming,...
