These are the best Disney heroes, in my opinion. The list would be harder to make if I were including Pixar characters, so I decided to stick with the traditionally animated heroes.

10. HERCULES
Hercules
"I would go most anywhere to find where I belong."
"I would go most anywhere to find where I belong."

Hercules is a God. Literally. He kicks ass while still being socially awkward around chicks which makes him more relatable than the typical muscle-man. I still like the other nine better though because he had the advantage of super strength which probably made his job a hell of a lot easier. In the end though, he wins a fight with his brain which is cool and he sacrifices himself for Meg, making him one of my favourite heroes.

9. PONGO
101 Dalmatians
"My story begins in London, not so very long ago. And yet so much has happened since then, that it seems more like an eternity."
"My story begins in London, not so very long ago. And yet so much has happened since then, that it seems more like an eternity."

Pongo is pretty cool because while most guys are stuck in relationships and dying to be single, he is a bachelor dying to settle down. After helping his "pet" score a girl, he gets one of his own. And after his puppies get kidnapped by the insane Cruella, he comes up with various clever schemes to save them. Sneaking 101 puppies past three bad guys is not an easy task. I've always preferred him over the arrogant Tramp.

8. JOHN SMITH
Pocahontas
"Well, that was refreshing."
"Well, that was refreshing."

So this guy proves how bad ass he is in the first scene of Pocahontas when that loser falls overboard during a storm. John Smith ties himself to the ship and dives in after him. And viewers should be prepared, this is pretty much the only exciting thing that happens in Pocahontas, so enjoy it. Smith is awesome because he wanders off and does his own thing and all his buddies just thinks he's the shit and wish they were half as cool as he is.

7. MILO THATCH
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
"Oh, I swim pretty girl - p-p-pretty good."
"Oh, I swim pretty girl - p-p-pretty good."

He may be a geeky loser but he somehow manages to score the hottest girl in the movie so he must be doing something right. I like Milo because he is resourceful and intelligent, he also puts his morals above money and will fight to do the right thing as shown in the last bit of the movie.

6. QUASIMODO
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
"All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day, not above them. But part of them."
"All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day, not above them. But part of them."

Sure, he's not the most conventional guy (meaning, he's fucking hideous) but there is no denying that Quasimodo is rad. He is an acrobat that can easily climb his way around Notre Dame and the scene where he rescues Esmeralda from being burned at the stake is truly some of the most epic shit Disney's ever made. They just don't make 'em like Quasi anymore.

5. PETER PAN
Peter Pan
"She's just jealous. All girls get like that around me."
"She's just jealous. All girls get like that around me."

Honestly, who didn't want to be Peter Pan when they were a kid? He's easily the coolest kid in the world. He casually flies around and shows of his sense of humour while kicking the shit out of a band of pirates all twice his size. He also has the ability to make every single female character in the movie fall head over heels for him. He doesn't seem to care though since his prepubescent. Or gay.

4. JIM HAWKINS
Treasure Planet
"Thanks for the lift, guys."
"Thanks for the lift, guys."

Jim's pretty chill. He spends his free time solar surfing. For those of you who don't know, solar surfing is the runner up after Quidditch as the most awesome fantasy sport in the history of the universe. Jim has an eye for adventure and shows bravery on several occasions throughout the movie. He also has a bad ass quality to him that makes him cooler than most.

3. TARZAN
Tarzan
"No matter where I go, you will always be my mother."
"No matter where I go, you will always be my mother."

The star of one of my all time favourite Disney movies. Tarzan is simply fucking awesome. He starts off an insecure kid who just can't keep himself from fucking everything up. But then we see him become determined to prove himself which leads into a sick montage of him growing up in the wild, working hard to become a hero. He kicks balls because he works hard to get what he wants and has some really fun action scenes.

2. ALADDIN
Aladdin
"If only they'd look closer. Would they see a poor boy? No siree, they'd find out there's so much more to me."
"If only they'd look closer. Would they see a poor boy? No siree, they'd find out there's so much more to me."

Pretty much my role model when I was five. Aladdin is the star one of Disney's greatest movies. He is good hearted but has a dark side. He has, without a doubt, the greatest sidekicks imaginable (especially in the TV series when Iago joins the crew) and he gets to marry a girl who is quite simply one of the hottest chicks ever drawn on paper. He is a little insecure, selfless (giving some orphans his bread), brave (returning to Agrabah to defeat Jafar), clever (tricking Jafar into becoming a Genie), and just an all around amazing dude. But not quite as amazing of a hero as...

1. MULAN
Mulan
"Somehow I cannot hide, who I am, though I've tried."
"Somehow I cannot hide, who I am, though I've tried."

Do I even need to explain? She starts out as just a socially awkward girl who is trying to fit in with society. Then, after dry swallowing a bad ass pill, she's just like: "Fuck this, my dad is a geezer and will die if he goes to war, I'll go myself." And off she goes, spontaneously breaking the rules to save her dad's ass, she ends up being an amazing soldier after a rocky start. She is highly intelligent and in my opinion the most resourceful hero. She is unbelievably brave and has faith in her own ideas which can be the hardest thing to have faith in. She kicks ass. She's even more sure of herself in the not so bad direct to DVD sequel. Mulan rocks. End of story.
