I think it’s a very intelligent show. Personally, I’m interested in strong and intelligent female characters, women that are excellent in their jobs, but don’t know what to do with their lives, and don’t know how to connect with people outside their profession. I think dialogues are extraordinary. I also think it’s fascinating to see how Hart Hanson, the creator, mixes the genres: it’s very different to other things in TV. It’s not just about solving the cases and knowing the techniques used to do so, it’s about knowing the characters, knowing how they connect with each other and the obstacles they have to fight, and how they connect the victims to their murderers. It’s fascinating.

-And you? Are you like your character?

I’m like her in the aspect of work. I can become absorbed in my work until the point where I forget about my personal life. But I think Brennan is much more radical than me in everything, and I’m not as socially inept as her.

-Which case was the most interesting to investigate and to interpret?
Sometimes, the one I like interpreting the most it’s not the best episode (laughs). I think it’s because we expect everything to be perfect. For example, this last season we had an episode were we went to the circus. My character knows she’s very rational and doesn’t get carried away by circumstances, but this was the first time she did. I really wanted to interpret it; I even got to do the throwing knife act. I also loved the season finale because it was very controversial and there were all sorts of opinions. It wasn’t the typical situation we get in all episodes. I suppose those I like the most, are those where I can get wild and change the register.

-Why was there controversy in the season finale?

I don’t read blogs. But Hart Hanson told me fans got angry at each other because some thought it was awesome and others think it wasn’t (laughs). In the episode, there is an alternative reality where Booth and Brennan are a couple and part of the audience got upset because they wanted it to be real, not in an alternative world. Some others loved seeing them together. I think it was very intelligent for Hart Hanson to do it like this. It’s like a film noir. Logically, what occurs in this episode (to be aired in a month in Spain) will affect our characters in next season.

- What are you going to do to maintain the audience interest?

All the people working in the show think that we have to be very creative with the methods and the ways to found the corpses, while being original in the story at the same time. We will have episodes that will be a farce, in the style of Molière; others that will be more sentimental, and some will be comic. We will have a cartoon character from Family Guy; he will appear in the second to last episode of the season. It seems like crazy, but it will always be based in the reality. Booth has a tumor and there will be times where he will see strange things. The most important to keep the audience is to have a good script full of surprises.

- Another thing that keeps the audience in front of the TV is Booth and Brennan’s chemistry.
Nevertheless, they can’t be more different. Do you think opposite poles attract or do you think people who have something in common has more possibilities to get together?

To me, the ones that are extremely opposite have to find equilibrium. My grandparents are an example for that: they’re ninety, married for 68 years and they are completely different. My grandma is strong and rational, she graduated in mathematics, and has an organized mind, but the house is a chaos. My grandpa is the opposite, but they’ve found a way to get along.

-How will your character develop, especially now that she’s learned to open her heart and get carried away by her feelings?

I think that the fact that she’s decided to have a child from a sperm donor says a lot of her. She was woman that was married to her job and never wanted children until now, for various reasons, but especially as a reaction to the society standards where women must marry and have children. But after meeting Booth and working along with him, she’s learned to be more sociable, to relax, to enjoy herself, and open emotionally. All of this has brought her to want to have children.

-Will we see her as a mom in season five?

I don’t know if in season five or the next one. First, they have to solve Booth’s problem, because he has lost his memory… at least his memory of Brennan. It could be that Booth can’t be the donor and she decides not to have children.

-Don’t you see her prepared to be a mother?

No. I think she still hasn’t understood the importance of having children and how much her life will change. But it’d be interesting to see her with a baby in her arms.

-You don’t have children, either. Have you ever felt under pressure to get married and have children?

No. I’ve never dreamed of that. I’d like to have children sometime. I love children and I’ve been babysitter lots of times, but if it doesn’t happen, I won’t get frustrated about it. I think it’s important to young people to see that there are women that say that maternity is not their principal goal in life. Getting married or having children has to be a personal decision.
