Hello =)

Sit down, shut up and listen to my (pretty much) unnecessary but still quite fun idea #401.
You may laugh afterwards.
But now...Silence and pay attention!

Disclaimer: Yes I admit it, I didn't come up with this idea on my own, I saw something similar years ago on a german website.

Here we go...
POPCOINS
Popcoins are virtual fanpop money.
The idea came to my mind when I was thinking about a possibility to change one's username without being able to change it all the time and without having to pay real money.

This is how popcoins would work:
There would be a popcoin symbol right next to where the props are.
Yes of course I made an image for you =) If I present an idea I do it properly.
On top you can see a symbol for popcoins with the number of popcoins you currently have under it. I will explain the "items" soon, so keep reading. =)

You wouldn't have to pay real money to get popcoins, the idea is the following:
Every day you get on fanpop you can click a particular button that says "Get 1 popcoin" and it gives you 1 popcoin.
Everyone can only get 1 popcoin per day, so if you get your daily popcoin everyday, you'll have 200 popcoins after 200 days.
If you forget to get your daily popcoin, you can NOT get 2 popcoins the next day, you only get one per day and if you don't come on and pick it up, bad luck :p
Jesus, I love the word POPCOIN...xD Popcoin, popcoin, popcoin,...

Popcoins can NOT be sent from user to user
Of course it would be a nice idea to be able to send some popcoins to your friend's account as a nice surprise, BUT...I think you don't have to be a fortuneteller to know what would happen.
Can you plz send me 20 popcoins??ß I'll fan you!!!!!111
And of course users would create multiple accounts to get more than 1 popcoin per day.
Popcoin whores. Disgusting. Annoying. Not good.
In other words: Everyone needs to earn their own popcoins.

Popcoins for usernames
Popcoins would be a very smooth solution to the username-change-problem. (which is not a problem per se, but I can see why some people want a new username from time to time)

A new username costs 160 popcoins for example. If you pick up your popcoin every day and never forget, it will still take you 160 days (>5 months) to change your username.
This would prevent people from changing their name all the time but still give them the possibility to do so without losing all their contributions.

Extended use of popcoins
The following is even more unnecessary, I call it the additional fun.
Older users will probably shake their heads, but since there are many kiddos on fanpop or those like me who are not embarassed to enjoy some childish stuff, I'll present this idea too =)

The basic idea is to be able to buy virtual items with popcoins. Virtual items are present on many websites, including livejournal for example.

Why do I need virtual items?
Well, you don't.
You don't need them for anything. They are as unnecessary as imaginary ice cream, yet many people enjoy them. I think I would enjoy them.(Not as much as sex or a good movie though :pp)

The thought is that you have a fanpop virtual item shop which lists items you can buy. Some should be cheap and cost only a few popcoins, some should be rather expensive.
The interesting thing is that they are all limited in their numbers. Every few weeks new items will be added and so on and so on.

You buy the items without pictures- because adding the pictures is your job :D
You can change these pictures all the time and if you don't want an item anymore, you can sell it back to the shop and it will be available again for another user to buy.

Another picture for your enjoyment:
Items xD
Items xD

Yeah, that was my idea #401.
I know a lot of you don't like change, please bear in mind that this is just an idea and not very likely at all to ever happen, so refrain from throwing rotten tomatoes at me.
Those were some thoughts I wanted to share, not more, not less =)

Picks are a way to state your opinion, or just find out what other people think. You might post a pick to find a new icon, or other's favorite foods. I like the way you can sometimes add a choice, which makes your opinion different.
Picks may also work as a school project: Example:Question: do you have a brother/sister? Project: take a survey and see how many people have a brother or sister.
Picks are a way to state an opinion without starting an argument, or sometimes they are not to state an opinion.
Adding images to picks is fun, too. some images are goofy, others can really fit in. It is creative to add images, and some times important, such as if you ask, "who's cuter?" you'll need to put images on the pick.
I like picks becuase they really are a way to state your opinion. They are a reminder that everyone has an opinion.
And that is why I love picks.

Not sure about all the different Fanpop users out there? Check out this handy guide! Have a look at some of the extremes of Fanpop-dom without even having to meet users like these. Also, not trying to offend anyone with this, this is just for fun, :)

The Obsessed Fan: As guessable by the name, this fans level of fandom goes above and beyond normal fans. They are likely to have a username that pertains to their obsession somehow. Ex: TwiEdwardLuvr, GagaMonster, Shakespeare4Life, etc. (Note: just because someone has a username pertaining to a certain fandom does not automatically classify someone...

I can't help but notice lately that a lot of people have been creating Verified Fanpop Accounts. At first, I thought it was some kind of program Fanpop put in order. Then I realized that it's just another way that people are faking 'celebrity accounts.'

But, real or not, it's actually a really cool thing to do to your profile! And it's really easy, so anybody can do it!

Directions:
- Open your profile for editing. In the section where you would usually put your last name, copy or type in: ✔ Verified Fanpop Account

Congradulations, your officially your actual self^^

Be creative!

OK, everybody, let's all just take some deep breaths. I've been looking at comments within the last half hour about the new Fanpop layout that has thrown all of us for a loop.

There was a similar outcry of disbelief over, what I am choosing to call, the link. I am here writing this to gather everyone's collective panic and misgivings into one place, as well as to try and look at the positives of these recent changes, in an attempt to placate some of your fears.

First of all, let's get the obvious out of the way. AH! OMIGAWD! FANPOP LOOKS WEIRD AND IS ALL DIFFERENT! It's like Facebook and YouTube...

Ah props. They used to be a way to acknowledge on a peer to peer level that someone has posted something good. Back in my day we used to give props if someone posted a good video, or said something intelligent but now they're thrown out like...condoms in high schools? *shrugs*

What are props?
Props are small medals that you can give to other users if you see them post something good.
eg; User_X posts a good video, User_Y gives User_X a video prop!

How can I give someone a prop?
You can give users props by going to their profile and clicking on the "Give Props" button, then type them a short message...

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this article because I believe the new wall system has real potential of improving the way people use the props. I realize that not all fanpoppers will follow my advize, but I still feel the urge to write this.

I’ve been on fanpop for quite some time now, and I’ve received and given quite a few props. However, only a small amound of the props I received were ‘real props’. To clarify: by ‘real props’ I mean props received for actual content I’ve submitted. All the other props were ‘thanks for being a fan – props’ or ‘happy whatever day you came...

Reason For This Article

Recently i finally found how to screencap a page on the internet. I had been looking for ages and finally i found out how to.Naturally i was very pleased and was waiting for a chance to use it.
My Joy was short lived
My Joy was short lived

Days went by,days turned into weeks and after a month and a half i found nothing. For the times i had been on fanpop i had read the funniest, silliest things in spots and now that i could finally share them ,everyone became sensible?
It felt like that unfortunately

After my long wait i got a message, but it wasn't what i was hoping for. I was expecting...

This is a little game I made up just because I was bored. I enjoy it, so I figured I’d share it.
Just a warning: This game is only fun if there’s a spot you’ve added a lot of images to, but enough have been added by other people to make it challenging.

So, the object of the game is to... get lots of points? And to encourage proper image etiquette.

Be sure to keep something handy to keep track of your points! (Paper and pencil, blank word document, calculator, etc.)

Step 1: Maneuver over to your favorite spot (or preferably, the spot you’ve contributed the most images to)

Step 2: Look at...
