I came up with this story and I hope you like it. I am a huge fan of mythology, especially Greek mythology. I am also a fan of the Percy Jackson and the Olympian books. I thought I would try to write something along the lines of the books. So I hope you like it, please post comments and give suggestions!

I have never felt the same, the same as anyone else in this world. My life, somehow, has been different... I live in Maine, in a small town on the coast, with just my mother to keep me company. Our house, I guess you could say is small, it has one floor with one bathroom, a small living room connected to the kitchen, and two small bedrooms off to the side. The house is old fashioned, inside it has old furniture with small couches covered in dark flower patterns. My room is brightly decorated in blues and pinks, there is a small bed in the corner and a old fashioned dresser to the right.
If you look out my window you can see the ocean. It seems to always be beautiful, when I look at it, not once have I seen a storm on the water or huge waves that crash to the ground. This ocean is different, like me, today the waves gently toched the sand, the sky was a perfect blue and the sun reflected off the water to make the sea shine with colors of yellow and orange. I guess this was the best part of my life, being able look out to the ocean.
My family has never had much money, my mother always said I was born into a special family but I never believed it. My mother works at home she sells shells she finds on the beach. I wouldn't say that was a bad job, it just doesnt give us much money. Atleast she gets to do what she loves, live by the beach. She said thats what attached my father, he loved the ocean. My mom said one day I would meet him, I tried to believe her but it was hard my father left before I was born. My mom said he had to leave, it was for my own good, but how could it be good for a father to leave his daughter.
I guess I should introduce myself, my name is Pela short for Pelagia. I have never liked the name but my mom said my father named me, Pelagia is Greek for one from the sea. I guess it suits me because I love the sea and have always lived by the sea.
"Pela where are you I am going looking for sea shells, would you like to come?" my mother asked.
"Sure, mom" I knew even if I said no my mother would make me go anyway she doesn't like me out of the house alone.
"Can you bring a beach blanket, we are going to eat dinner on the beach tonight."
" Ok" I answered. I was so glad we were having dinner on the beach. My mom and I never talked, especially about my dad and that was always the subject I wanted to talk about.
When we got to the beach I felt a strange sense of wiriness while I stepped onto the beach. Almost as something evil was waiting for me. I tried to push that thought aside while I set down the blanket. While we were eating I asked "Mom, has dad ever met me?"
My mom looked up from her sandwich she looked as if she had just remembered a sad thought "No, no he hasn't but that doesn't mean he has never seen you."
"What do you mean how can he-"
"Trust me Pela, you will some day know," My mom said and sighed "You look like him, you know, you have his green eyes and his dirty blond hair."
"Am I ever going to meet him some day?" I asked anxious to know.
"Yes, I am positive," My mother got up. "I'm going to look for shells, before it gets dark." She grabbed her bucket and I watched he walk off.
I sat their watching her pick up shells. The felling of evil was worse now I didn't know what was wrong so I got up and went running after my mom to help her with the shells. If anything happened I wouldn't want my mom getting hurt.
"Hi," I said.
" You here to help?" My mother asked and I nodded. "Look! That one in the water is beautiful" She pointed to a huge conch shell in the water about ten feet away. I thought it would have been impossible to see but the water appears almost clear.
"Mom it's to far in your not a good swimmer" I yelled.
"It's not to far, hold my bucket Pela," She handed me the bucket and started wading in.
She made it to the shell but when she touched the shell she disappeared she was taken by the sea. I panicked, and dove in after her.
