Hey guys!

What does the word female ass-kickers mean to you? Ass-kickers come in all shapes and sizes. There are the crazy ones like Harley Quinn or the quirky ones like Nymphandora Tonks. Many of us think that female ass-kickers can only be tough fighting machines like Sarah Conner and Ellen Ripley or Carol Peletier when in fact, physical strength is not the only strength. Determination is a strength and intelligence is a strength. Female ass-kickers are strong women and that counts physically as well as emotionally.

Sure enough, I've noticed that the people on this club are open-minded to the many types of ass-kickers but there and then I spot a few people criticizing the choice of putting the likes of Ugly Betty and Bones on the banner.

Below I've compiled examples of fictional women in no particular order that I consider to be emotionally strong and those who dont fit our typical definition of a female ass-kicker.

1. Ma, Room.

Ma is possibly one of the greatest examples of a emotionally strong female ass-kicker. She doesnt lose it even after being held captive for 7 years in an enclosed space, never seeing the light of the sun or the nature. She holds herself together for her son, Jack and loves him dearly against all odds. Ma is also quite clever and witty, devising a plan to escape her prison once and or all. Sure enough, she suffers a mental breakdown and has her bad moments but who wouldn't after being trapped for 7 years. She is determined to give her child the best growth possible in the situation they're in.

You're gonna love it." "What?" "The world."

2. Aibileen and Minnie, The Help

Aibileen Clark and Minnie Jackson are two black maids battling racism. Despite the prejudice, they maintain their strength and hope for the better. Aibileen takes care of her owner's toddler, Mae Mobley whom she loves and adores just like her own child. She is a kindly and likeable woman and a trustworthy maid. Minnie's got incredible sass and isnt afraid to stand up for herself and take sweet revenge on her cold-hearted employer. (Chocolate pie, anyone?)

3. Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth Bennet is the classic Austen heroine known for her snarky but charming attitude and being written in a time when such female characters were unheard of. She never received a proper education, but was quite fond of learning and made sure to educate herself. She was confident and sure of herself, and even someone as imposing and aristocratic as Mr. Darcy couldn't intimidate her. Her most inspiring trait was that she always, always spoke her mind and always put her family first before Mr Darcy or anybody else.

4. Cinderella, Cinderella

Ah, the classic fairytale heroine. People don't often consider disney princesses to be ass-kickers but they're inspiring in their own way. The thing about Cinderella is that she never loses hope despite the circumstances and remains kind to her step-mother and step-sisters, respecting her mother's dying wish. She is a humble and down-to-earth person, one of the reasons the Fairy Godmother chose to help her. The only thing that bothers me about Cinderella is that she has got no flaws at all. But once you get past this fact, you can appreciate her for the ass-kicker she truly is.

5. Matilda, Matilda

Many won't consider Matilda to be a ass-kicker because she is a child, but gosh is she awesome. She’s a child who realizes adults can be wrong and stands up for what she thinks is wrong. She values knowledge above everything else and isnt afraid to take revenge from those who did her wrong. She values her friends as proved when she helps Ms Honey fight for her rights. She taught us all that knowledge is power and to be independent and self-reliant. Due to these qualities, Matilda is my favourite childhood ass-kicker.
