River's time at the academy had started out normal. The 14-year old would go to her scheduled lessons and to her dance practice. Then six weeks into her one year stay, her teachers said all of her lessons were being suspended.

River was confused, her teachers explained that Dr. Mathias the academy's head doctor had picked her and a few select students to participate in a exclusive round of treatments.
To improve your intellect. was how Dr. Mathias explained the treatments.

River was ecstatic when she had gotten the news. She was soon disappointed after learning she would...

It was two days before River Tam's departure to the government sponsored school called the Academy, their slogan was: It is a haven for the gifted and extraordinary children of the Alliance. River could hardly contain her excitement. River's parents were equally thrilled for her.

River and her family were eating lunch outside on the patio that overlooked their luxurious flower garden.

Through The Tam family had heard nearly nothing about the school for it had just started around four years ago what they did know was that the school was extremely exclusive and had the most challenging educational...

Although Firefly didn't last more than a single season, its crew have road the wind of cult fame and rooted themselves in the fertile ground of science fiction and other equally geeky corners of the entertainment business.

Our Captain tight-pants has found his place on the abc crime drama Castle. It's not science fiction but Nathan isn't above throwing us Browncoats a bone everyones in a while. Most notably in "Season 2, Episode 6" when he dons a familiar costume.

This is a short character review of one of the best Firefly characters, the man they call Jayne!
When I first started watching Firefly, which wasn't too long ago, I fell in love with Jayne immediately. He was like a Firefly version of Spike to me. Kind of. Not only was he very, very, attractive, his character was appealing. He was the joking muscle. Big, tough, and intimidating, but absolutely hilarious. He had all the best lines, along with Wash. His relationships with the members of the crew were interesting, especially with the Tams. For a long time all he did was tease poor Simon and complain...

Actor Sean Maher has appeared in several television shows and films, but he’s best known to Browncoats everywhere as Simon Tam from Joss Whedon’s beloved cult series Firefly and Serenity, its feature film spinoff. Since his work with Captain Mal and crew, Sean has kept genre close to his heart with guest-starring roles on Ghost Whisperer, Human Target and Warehouse 13. Sean became interested in acting as a child and eventually graduated from NYU with a BFA in drama, lending credence to the adage that if you “follow your dreams, you’ll see the stars” (or, at least, a new star system...

Simon Tam was happier than he had been in a long time, possibly since his childhood. The source of his happiness was that his sister River was finally recovering from the torture the Alliance conducted on her. It had been six months since the crew had left Persephone after they had fixed Serenity. The injuries they had gotten over the battle with the reavers had finally healed. Their Captain Mal had defeated the deadly Operative, who had insured his and River's safety from the Alliance for quite a while. It looked like for the first time since Simon and River had set foot on Serenity, they could...

Is it just me, or is there a serious lack of ratings on this site?
I don't know if the site's just stagnant and people aren't viewing the content or if Firefly fans just don't like to rate things. It seems to be across the board too. Images, videos, links. Not very many ratings unless it's several months old. I find that very sad.
Personally, I'd like to know whether or not the content I add is appreciated. I don't add it for myself, I add it to share it with other fans. If you don't like it, let me know by giving it a low rating! Let people know what you think.
The other thing is that I don't think there's enough discussion on picks. I usually make a pick in order to incite a discussion about that topic, but it just seems not too many people actually comment on picks in this spot.
We need to dust this site off and show our enthusiasm for Firefly! We're still Browncoats aren't we?

I always loved the movie Serenity. I just thought it was nothing more then a movie and that was the end of it. Then I saw the hidden extras on the DVD and discovered that it was much more then I thought.

So I went out and got Firefly on DVD and was stunned at just how much I enjoyed it. The series itself is classed as sci-fi and I am not a fan of the genre. I was shocked that I liked it at all.

My point is this. Firefly and everything that followed does what few shows do. It crossed the lines that seperate genres, pulling fans from all areas into a world where they had never been before. I for one am glad that I got pulled into such a great experience.

River was stretched atop the ceiling of her bedroom abroad the space ship Serenity one thought drifted into River's mind all of a sudden. Why did the academy hurt me ?

As graceful as a swan she slid down off form her position on the ceiling and said out loud to herself, “I must get this information form him.”

She then walked slowly toward the medical bay where she would almost always find her brother working, or meticulously cleaning his space.

Simon was again worried about his sister's mental state. It had seemed that she had gotten so much better.

Ever since the crew had defeated the...
