Although George and Angie are very different characters, they do have several things in common.

-Both come from Spanish families.
-Both have a sister and a brother.
-Both have been out of work.
-Both have parents who don't stay together.
-Both have a parent who frequently comes to their house. That parent temporarily stays at their house, starts dating again, and almost gets married.
-Both are often annoyed and/or made fun of by the other's parent.
-Both have another parent who is barely seen, and later dies.
-Both are overprotective when one of their kids start dating.
