Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that in a couple of years she would love to do a Gilmore Girls TV movie to tie up the loose ends. I wonder which loose ends she would tie up and what her final vision for the show is. In my opinion, plot was never the highlight of the Gilmore Girls, it was the characters. That being said, if I had my way, the status of the characters in the movie would be something like this:

The town of Stars Hollow is pretty much the same as it ever was. The town square and town meetings are a flurry of activity with the likes of Taylor, Babette, Patty, Gypsie, Andrew, and the rest. TJ works in Luke's Diner while Liz does her Jewelry thing.

Kirk and Lulu have opened up their own business, Stars Hollow Daycare! Patrons include Doola and Sookie and Jackson's kids.

Luke and Lorelai are married and have two-year-old twins, Nick and Nora. Luke has been a stay at home dad these past two years so that Lorelai, Michel, and Sookie could focus on opening up another Inn. TJ and Ceasar have been running the diner, much to Luke's dread. As the movie progresses, we learn that Luke has decided to go back to work and it's time to start taking the twins to day care. Luke and Lorelai are wrestling the fact that their babies will be in the care of Kirk all day long.

April has been living with the couple since the twins were born. She's doing really well in school and is preparing for her admission to... Harvard!!! Although their relationship with Luke is awkward at best, Emily and Richard have grown fond of April, in particular Richard, with whom she shares a special bond.

With the help of Brian and Gil, Lane and Zack have taught their sons to play instruments and sing. The family has formed a more rocking Hanson-style band and is about to go on tour. Their manager is Mrs. Kim.

Paris has just finished Medical School. She's been accepted to a Researcher position at Johns Hopkins Medical School. Conveniently, her husband Doyle has just gotten a position at the Baltimore Sun. Rory is the Maid of Honor at their wedding, Madeline and Louise are Bridesmaids. They perform their vows in three different languages; English, Hebrew, and Portuguese.

With the help of the town, Lorelai is preparing a big celebration for her Parents' 45th Wedding Anniversary, it's being held at The Dragonfly.

For Rory, the past few years have been colorful. She's won several awards for journalism, especially for her article about the current hardships of wounded soldiers after returning from the War. She has just been offered a position at the New Yorker. When she shows up for the anniversary celebration, she has a man on her arms.....

Rory scenario #1:
It's Dean! Dean has just completed his Bachelors in Education at a Connecticut University. He's recently been accepted to Columbia's masters program. He and Rory are dating again and seem really happy.

Rory scenario #2:
It's Jess! Jess has won a Pulitzer for Literature for his sophomore novel. In addition, he's a New York Times best-selling author. He's a full-time writer, but travels a lot for research. He and Lorelai have mended fences and are now pretty close, and he and Rory are engaged.

Rory scenario #3:
It's Tristan Dugray! Military School matured him a lot and he has discovered his inner hippie. After he graduated, he got a degree from UC Berkeley. He then joined the Peace Corps. He now works at the Central Park Zoo as a representative of the Wildlife Conservation Society. His and Rory's paths crossed when she was researching an article on the changes that global warming was having on the habitat of Polar Bears. They have been dating ever since. Their first date was a PJ Harvey concert!

Rory and Logan are good friends. He is happily married. His wife is a Brazilian Social Worker that put herself through Stanford by modeling. His mother can't stand her, so much so that she tried to get him and Rory back together to no avail.

Christopher has finally found happiness. He married the single-mother of a little girl. Gigi and the little girl get along like sisters.

The movie will of course end with Lorelai and Rory. Rory will be talking about how happy she is with (fill in the blank) and Lorelai will jokingly scold her, saying that Nick and Nora are too young to have a niece or nephew. They talk over a cup of coffee at Luke's right before Rory is about to pack up for New York.
