I had to write this article because there are many Snape haters that got him soooooo wrong through books and movies. So before I write this all, I must say Alan Rickman playing Snape wasn't why me and other Snape fans loved him. This is just a excuse for them hating on Snape and for us that we just love Snape because of his actor. Nope, in fact I didn't know Alan existed until I watched the movies. He was a pretty good actor, but not that to make his character all covered. So lets move on reasons.
1-Love For Lily
Severus Snape loved Lily Potter, the mother of Harry. He loved her no matter what and protected her. Plus, they spent their whole childhood together and imagine how painful it was when Lily chose James over Snape. Later on when the dark lord killed them both, he still loved Lily and he was so sad which you can see from his face in that scene. Still, crazy hater theories started to come up.
"Snape killed them!"
Man, Snape was crazy in love with Lily. He couldn't have killed him and in his death scene you can clearly see how much he missed Lily in his life and that's why he told Harry:
"You have the eyes of your mother, Harry."
2-Loyalty to Dumbledore
When Dumbledore died, we all thought how could Snape betray the man that trusted him the most? HOW? But then we learned that it was all a part of Dumbledore's plan, Snape killed him because he tried to earn Voldemort's trust to spy on him and help the good side win.
Some people still say he was a betrayer. Gosh, did you really watched all the movies and read the books till the end? In the movies, there is a scene where Harry learns about it all.
3-Still hiding it all
Snape was the coolest man in Hogwarts. Such a mean teacher, yeah but he was trying to hide what he did for all people and he was not good in relationships after Lily, you cannot hate him for that! Even though he was hiding how good he was ( which also revealed his modest side,) he still gave tons of clues for it.
For example in their duet with Minerva, you can clearly see he wasn't fighting the spells, he was just making protective spells to himself to not get injured and throwing the curses to the death eaters to specifically lose the duet.
4-Caring the most
Its really heartbreaking to hear that he didn't care about anyone than Lily and was selfish. If so, why did he protect Draco? Why was he devastated when Dumbledore told him that Harry needed to die? He sacrificed himself for other kids and Hogwarts. Again mentioning, that duet scene with Minerva is a big example.
And yes, that's it. If you're still hating on him remember Harry's words.
"Who is this man?"
"He is the bravest man I ever knew."
Yeah and thinking he is overrated? Calm down, some characters just deserve to be like that. You can't help public to love them.
