Alright, at the risk of beating a dead horse, I'm consolidating all my thoughts on the Luddy relationship into this article. Granted, we only have about half an episode's worth of Lucas to base everything on, but I'm going to speculate anyways. And I stress the word "speculate".
Obviously, these are only my opinions. Please feel free to comment, especially if you disagree. I believe the idea behind these opinion articles is to stimulate some interesting conversation.
Alright, the first thing I wanna put out there is the "look" that Cuddy gave Wilson that obviously caught his attention. I think what Wilson saw in that look was genuine annoyance with Lucas. This could be very significant, as you rarely experience this in a serious relationship, or at least not while it's still early on and both people are still in the "infatuation" stage. This obviously didn't go unnoticed by Wilson, who (in my opinion) was very surprised to see Cuddy so obviously annoyed by her new boy toy.
If you agree with my interpretation, then we can extend this further into Cuddy's relationship with Lucas. It seems that her behavior is now largely governed by what is "in the best interest of her kid". She doesn't think House is capable of being the reliable adult that she now needs in order to raise Rachel. Her feelings for House are obviously stronger, but she is willing to forsake them in order to do what is better for Rachel. The conversation out on the patio with Wilson definitely supports this notion.
So where does this leave us in terms of how the rest of Season 6 could play out???
Let's talk about House first:
House is obviously going to have to continue showing Cuddy that he HAS changes, and will need to prove to her that he can be the man she needs. It won't be easy, but going back through some of the things House has done in the past, he's certainly capable of making grand gestures. And they always seem to come when hope is all but lost (i.e. the med school desk).
Now let's talk about Cuddy:
What I think we'll see with her is an internal struggle as House begins to display his capability at being what she needs. Simultaneously, I think she will begin to realize that although Lucas may have initially seemed to be the wiser choice in regards to Rachel, she can't ignore the fact that Lucas just can't arouse the passionate feelings within her that House can.
She'll begin questioning whether or not she made the right choice as she realizes that maybe she can't have a relationship based solely on what is best for her child. She'll realize that she has to consider her feelings, too. Then I think this will all culminate later in the season when it hits her like a freight train - she CAN have both! Furthermore, she can have both with House. I think that's when we'll see Lucas leave the show - permanently.
How long will all this take? Obviously, it's going to take a while. And as much as I hate to say it, it may come down to the Season Finale and we'll be left with the mother of all cliffhangers to brood over next summer.
Other general season 6 drabble:
I'm very intrigued by the spoiler that said Cuddy fans are going to go crazy about epi 14. What the hell is gonna happen? I honestly don't have a clue. I'd love to think it is something with Huddy, but then why didn't the spoiler say "Huddy fans" instead of "Cuddy fans"???
Another spoiler said there won't be legitimate "Huddy sex" this season, but I'm trying not to let that deter me. I mean, I'm still holding on to the hope that House and Cuddy will get together, they just won't be making any on-screen love. Personally, I'd be okay with them not showing Huddy sex as long as House and Cuddy get together.
