‘Happy birthday sweetie’ mom said
‘Thanks, I can’t believe I’m finally frozen’
‘Your dad is doing breakfast for you and then Alice wants you over at the house ‘she said
‘You know what she’s like; she probably spent the whole night decorating every surface possible with flowers and candles’
I went through to get my breakfast from the kitchen; although I preferred blood I still ate human food and liked most of it,
‘Good morning my beautiful Nessie, happy birthday’ Dad greeted me as I walked into the kitchen.
‘Morning dad’ I said yawning ‘what’s for breakfast?’
‘Omelettes, your favourite’ he answered
Once I had done eating I went to get changed then went down stairs where my parents were waiting
‘Nessie, we know you didn’t want much for your birthday but unfortunately we haven’t managed to get your present sorted on time but we promise you will get it as soon as possible’ my mom said a apologetic look in her eyes.
‘That’s fine, I don’t mind’ I honestly didn’t they did too much for me already, my dad said my mom had been like this, never wanting to receive presents.
‘Let’s get back to the other house, Alice hates people being late’ dad said
‘Will Jake be there?’
‘Of course he will, isn’t he always’ my mom told me with a roll of her eyes
We ran through the small cottages garden jumped over the wall then raced towards the house, I wasn’t as fast as mom and dad but I was fast enough. We leaped over the river and then walked towards the big house, as we walked into the sitting room and chorus of ‘happy birthday Nessie’ made me so happy I thought I would burst.
‘It’s like my 18th all over again’ laughed mom
I didn’t have any presents as they were getting me one together but as mom had predicted Auntie Alice had covered every surface. I was disappointed at first because Jacob wasn’t there but then the door opened and in walked my werewolf, my soul mate, my true other half.
“Hey Nessie sorry I’m late honey” he apologised pulling me into a tight hug and kissing the top of my head.
“Its fine Jake we only just got here”
“Wait, I’ve got your present hold on” he reached in to the pocket of his shorts and pulled out a small jewellery box, I opened it and inside was the most beautiful necklace I had ever seen, heart shaped with an inscription of French.
“Toujours et a jamias- Forever and always, its beautiful Jake, I love it”
“I’m glad you like it” he said, adoringly ruffling my hair
“I need to talk to you” he whispered “in private”
“Ok, come on then” I pulled on his hand and we walked out of the back door and into the woods.
“What is it you need to say Jake; you know you can tell me anything “he hesitated and didn’t speak for a minute.
“Yeah, I know. Look Nessie you know I love you right you know I’m always there for you. No matter what.”
“Yes, I love you too Jake” I felt his hand tighten around mine
“You know I mean more then as friends, you’re my other half Jake. I couldn’t bear to lose you.
“Renesmee, just let me think for a minute” Oh he was calling me Renesmee; he only did that when it was something serious.
“It’s sick Nessie, you’re only sixteen” he said shaking his head
“Jake don’t you give me that crap, I love you” I touched my necklace.
“Forever and always”
He swung me up into his arms, cradling me against his warm bare chest.
“I’m making you unhappy, I don’t mean to do that, I want you to be happy I would do anything to give you what you want”
“Jake, the only reason I’m unhappy is because you are, I love you and you love me there is nothing we can do about it and nothing I would do to change that.”
His lips pressed softly to mine and my arms wrapped around his neck and he stroked my hair with gentle hands.
“come on let’s get back, they will be wondering where we are.”
