Zexion: this is it. the final battle: Jason versus Axel.
Everything, from the day Larxene decided to torment Zexion to the meeting just yesterday, has led up to this day. The sun rose on the final day…
Day 84: Tears(the lonely devil, pt. II): Larxene's room: A loud buzzing noise sounded in Jason's head. He rose groggily from his side of the bed. Saïx's voice sounded in his head, "Jason. Your reserved mission is in fifteen minutes. Get ready and be in the Grey Area before then." Jason groaned. He had reserved a mission to a place called "Neverland." a few days ago. Apparently, he now had the mission. "I'm off on my mission, Larx. See you later." Larxene muttered something incoherently. Jason walked out the door.
Zexion's room: Zexion waited, invisible, in a corner of his own room. After some time had passed, Axel walked in and made his way to the decoy Zexion sleeping in the bed. He then took out a beaker filled with clear liquid and poured some of the contents on the decoy. The blankets turned into a viscous black fluid that smothered the decoy. Axel walked out with a satisfied smirk on his face. The real Zexion stood up and undid his illusion, and ran towards the door. Maybe he could stop Axel now—the black fluid wrapped itself around Zexion. Apparently the fluid was smart. Vexen's design, requested by Axel, no doubt. Zexion tried to relax as the black fluid tried to drown him. Number XVI's heart left Zexion's body and went somewhere else.
Larxene's room: Larxene slowly started wake. She had heard that Jason was going to be off on his mission, which left her with nothing to do. Maybe she could plot another overthrow attempt with Marluxia. Not that she would go through with it, of course. Her eyes focused on Axel, who was in the process of pouring something on her blankets. "Nothing personal, Larxene," he said with a grin. "I just have some unfinished buisness to take care of." With that, he left. Her blankets were turning into a viscous fluid that was trying to strangle her. As her vision started to blur, she saw someone standing over her, and the fluid was gone not long afterwards. Larxene focused her eyes, but there was no one there.
Clock Tower, Twilight Town: Number XVI had saved Zexion's life, and Larxene's as well. But now she had run out of energy again, and gone back inside Zexion. Zexion hated playing babysitter, but he'd better get used to it, at least according to her memories. The minute he stepped on the roof of the Clock Tower, he knew he was going to lose. Besides Axel, who was standing in plain sight, Zexion could detect the scents of Roxas and Xion. Zexion fought with Axel anyway, until with a well placed blow, Roxas's Keyblade sent Zexion's Lexicon tumbling over the edge of the clock tower. Zexion pretended to faint after that, knowing that Axel only wanted Jason's head. If Zexion played it right, then Axel's plan would fail.
Halls of the Castle: Larxene ran through the halls. She would have warped straight to Jason, but she couldn't right now. All she could do was go to the Grey Area and hope the Dark Corridor was still open. Suddenly, she stopped. Demyx and Xigbar were barring the way forward. Before she could move, Demyx doused her in a wave of water, rendering her lightning useless. "No one beats me with my own sitar." Demyx said with his eyes glittering black with hate. "I'm in an extremely foul mood right now," Larxene growled, "So stay out of my way." Xigbar summoned his arrowguns while Demyx summoned his precious sitar. Larxene managed to summon her knives without shocking herself too much. The battle began.
Clock Tower, Twilight Town: Jason blinked his eyes as he stepped out on the roof of the familiar Clock Tower that had towered over him his whole life. He instantly knew he had fallen into a trap. (Though to be fair, Jason didn't know about Saïx and Axel's history together and so couldn't have seen this coming.) "Axel. I know you're there. Why did you bring me here?" Axel came around the corner of the Clock Tower with an (pretending) unconscious Zexion. Jason paled. If Zexion was "out"… "As far as everyone else knows, I'm not here, Jason. You came up here, and you met up with your end. And that." Axel pointed up to a giant bird Heartless that was hovering over them. "What is that?!" Jason screamed. "Its a Dustflier." Axel said, "D-U-S-T-F-L-I-E-R. Got it memorized?" Axel summoned his Dustflier chakrams. "One last battle, Jason?" Jason unseathed his knives. "If I win, you give this up forever. Got that memorized?" Axel agreed, then attacked.
Halls of the Castle: Larxene weaved through Xigbar and Demyx's attacks. Even without her lightning, she was a vicious fighter, made even more powerful by training with Jason. She kicked Xigbar in the gut, and he crashed against the wall and slumped to the floor. Next, as Demyx came at her in a wall of water, she managed to snatch his sitar from his hands and smacked him over the head with it. "Did we learn a lesson here?" Larxene said mockingly to the unconscious Demyx. A giant flower bloomed below Demyx and wrapped him up. Next, Xaldin's wind lances came out nowhere and formed a metal cage around Xigbar. Standing in the hall was now Marluxia and Xaldin. "Go after that deluded fool. We'll hold them here." Larxene grudgingly nodded her thanks and dashed off.
Clock Tower, Twilight Town: Jason used a cure spell on himself. He was doing well in the battle against Axel, if for no other reason than Axel seemed to driving Jason to the edge of the Clock Tower. Jason slashed and weaved and even blasted Axel with another Thunder spell. "I'm glad we met, Jason. And I'm almost sorry I have to do this." With that, Axel thrust his hand in the air. Roxas and Xion's keyblades came out of nowhere and sent Jason's knives tumbling over the edge. Jason himself was driven to the very edge of the Clock Tower by Axel's continued attacks. "You put on a good show, Jason. But now it's time for the curtain to close." Jason looked at Roxas and Xion, but Roxas simply shook his head and Xion mouthed, "I'm sorry." Zexion, meanwhile, saw that their worst fears had come to pass. Axel prepared for the killing slice. Zexion summoned his power, took aim—and a ball of wind exploded under Jason's feet and sent him tumbling over the edge of the Clock Tower. Zexion continued to funnel his power while Axel watched Jason fall. Eventually, he turned to Roxas and Xion. They talked for a bit, then all three of them vanished. Zexion stood up and prepared for the acting job of his life.
Foot of the Clock Tower, Twilight Town: Zexion put the finishing touches on his final project as Larxene appeared. She froze at what was on the ground. Jason had been reduced to a bloody, broken mess. Larxene stared at the sight as if she could make it dissapear by just staring at it. "He's dead, Larxene. I tried to save him, but he had been ambushed by a Dustflier." Larxene kept staring, then suddenly turned around. Her shoulders were shaking, and a single tear made its way down her face. Zexion caught the tear in a tiny crystal vial. Larxene walked back into Dark Corridor. Zexion looked at Jason, then said, "see you in six months." with that, he walked into the Dark Corridor.
