Byakuya sat in the school's library thinking over his now closing 6th month of teaching. Finding his taste for teaching somehow oddly entertained. Delightfully so, as it made the former substitute soul reaper Ichigo all that more uncomfortable. As for the boy's intelligence....he was grudgingly actually smarter then he looked. As for the other teachers....the female ones as well as some of the males were somewhat aggressive in their hitting on him. Perhaps he should have worn the ring Keisuke had given to him sooner. "Oh you should definitely wear one unless you're actually looking for a date." Byakuya had taken it and put it in his pocket and then in a drawer at the former bout's house. It was as lt. Abarri had said, near enough but comfortably out of the way of prying eyes. Wearing the ring now got him disbelieving looks and a lot of questions. Who was she? How did they meet? Where was she? What did she do? How long were they married? Why now did he just put on the ring? Adding dirty looks and tears of him having somehow leading them on. To most of it he just ignored them. Or to those more persistent his new wife was out of the country.
Picking up a newspaper someone had left behind he saw the article in a paper. 'Largest cache of ancient treasures found by legendary archaeologists.' Reading further he read. 'The youngest among them being the lovely but not photographed digger Jasmine Kalt. Who is 18 and very camera shy. With that read he smiled, this was his answer. They had been on the same dig together and had married in a rash fluster of feelings. His mind bloomed the scene. He had merely taken a sabbatical after graduating to look for a job to open up and had decided to expand his boring life with taking on an archeological dig. At first she had been annoying and frustrating and then it just happened. Somehow it had become a friendship, then lust and finally love. He had taken her out to dinner and produced a ring. She had blushed and kissed him while slipping on the ring. As for the rest, he had brashly stormed the nearest priest's home. Refusing to leave until they were married. Then this job had opened up and he had taken it. It was only a few hours flight compared to the countless hours to the states. He sighed in the complete lie he had just concocted, but even then it wasn't enough proof...
he smiled and nodded to himself. Urahara owed him a few favors, papers could be drawn up, pictures could be faked.
"Are you insane? Papers are one thing, but photographs....especially of a girl that refused to have her picture taken. It says she's 18. What are you.....somewhere in your 20's- 30's? By your attitude I'd say you're in your 60's, you're too calm, too egotistical, that means snobby kiddies. " He said to the two on the other side of the door. "We know what it meant." Keisuke sighed, shrugged and continued. "No one who knows you would even believe the drivel you just handed me. You aren't romantic, have no such drama in your soul as to take such drastic steps to ensure your un-pictured beauty no escape from your entanglement. What's next? Do want her to be pregnant? " Keisuke said reading the lie again the man in front of him wanted him to make believable. The captain's face was not one that said any of this was even remotely possible.
" Maybe if this was to get the paper off your back I could find a plausible possible way to make it seem realistic ....." Keisuke looked down at the gold ring on the captain's finger. The so at ease captain had been twisting it a lot by the
redness. He sighed heavily. "You didn't wear the ring until recently, did you. Did you?" Byakuya looked to the side of the room to study the poor surroundings of the man's home. "Yeah I thought so. What did you expect? Of course now they are swarming around you like hungry sharks smelling blood in the water. I told you didn't I, and all you did was ignore me....I should let you just tread water but I owe you so I'll do this. If they discover the lie, don't come running to me. Next time you run into that messenger, tell him I don't take orders from the high king. I am an exile so I'll do as I please and not because he says so. Do we understand each other?" Byukuya nodded and Keisuke smiled and poured some more tea into his guests surprisingly empty cup. Maybe there was more to the young captain then he thought.
Keisuke took a bus to the local library and looked through the papers and then went to the computers tracking the archaeologist's group. It apparently was a well funded and long in the tooth kind of group. There wasn't many photos so he had to look through the reports of them very carefully and then he ran into a newspaper clipping. More then 25 years old. The caption read. ' 6 Hostages Taken By Terrorist Group.' Reading on he paled. The 6 had been prominent archeologists on a dig of a lifetime. Out of the 6 hostages only 2 had survived. The others, had been abused, beaten and fed to various insects before the 4 remaining bodyguards had been able to find their location. Spinning back further he caught a black and white photo." Hmmm…..
…..well this is interesting....." He flipped to the other picture. " Ah I see and you never age....18? Look more like 16. Hmmm....and his direct opposite. So who and what are you? Other then the paper was right. You are very pretty indeed. Too good for him. Hmmm....I'll have to do a little reconstructing to make you not so desirable to the fake husband you are about to get."
By the end of the 2nd day Keisuke had a packet full of history for Byakuya. Byakuya eyed the woman in the picture. There wasn't anything to really compliment her appearance, the papers must have been being kind. "We'll say she's loaded and you married for convenience. Her parents and your need for the green." At Keisuke's words he stiffened. "Oh come on its not like you are actually married to her. Most likely you'll never even meet. She's the kind who likes her solitary ways...that you do seem to have in common but nothing else. And its only to placate those who are hitting on you, which you could have avoided if you'd have worn the ring when I told you too." Byakuya pressed his lips together.
"Oh well now you have your favor. We are now even right?" Keisuke said with a smile pouring the tea into both their cups. "Yes, we are even."

Senbonzakura

* Spirit: Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa

Senbonzakura's shikai.

Byakuya Kuchiki's zanpakutō is Senbonzakura (千本桜?, literally "thousand cherry blossoms"). Its shikai is triggered by the command "scatter" (散れ, chire?). In the English manga the phrase is translated inconsistently; at the start of volume fourteen it is translated as "die", though later in the same volume "scatter" is used instead. When manifested in the anime Zanpakutō Unknown Tales arc, Senbonzakura resembles a masked man in samurai armor with a half-cherry blossom decoration on his helmet.

In its shikai, Senbonzakura's...
