Louie healed Jean's shoulder before he took her back. "Why? Tell me why. What did I do?" Jean cried as he eased her tear streamed face into his own shoulder. Louie only tightened his grip, his emotions far too hot to be comforting. On his arrival to her apartment they were confronted by a well dressed young woman with a warm smile that turned into concern as they neared. "Is everything alright?" Louie nodded. " Just a little over tired. That's all. Excuse us." The young woman stepped aside, but did not move from the door. "Did you want something?" Louie inquired suspiciously. The youth blushed. "Well yes, but .....Her family won our sweepstakes. Her apartment was the closest on the map. I thought...." She sighed. Louie felt eyes on them and a slick line of sweat creased her brow. "You're lying!" He deposited an already slipping down Jean to the floor as he went on the defensive. The girl met his eyes. "This is for the best, trust me.
Boy's take him." Louie didn't even have time to even growl before he found himself where they had begun. He tried to scream his outrage, but nothing came out. Not a word, not one peep. Nothing!
The agent sagged as she nodded to the angels assigned to the detail. "Easy boys she's with child. Too bad the idiot wasn't smart enough to petition Heaven. Oh well the seer says they'll meet later. Crabby?" The lead angels cheek twitched at the nickname.
"What Pain?" The girl stuck her tounge out. Then asked her question. "So how did the rest go?" The angel snorted. "Most didn't buy it, but since it was about their friend they came on board. Her father ate it up hook line and sinker. Greedy ass makes me feel dirty." He shook, rustling his feathers. "What is your opinion of the so called ghost king?" Agent Nina Pain asked.
Paul Crabish, Crabby, sighed annoyed. "Let's get the packages safe first. I don't like being so close to unhappiness." Nina kissed him softly. "Ok dearest. Chop-chop let's be off."
Jean felt light as air and warm. She snuggled closer William's name on her lips as she slipped deeper into unconsciousness.
A light came from above her and she saw a winged being swing down into her darkness. "I bring you greetings Soul Ferry and child within." Jean blinked hard at the angel. "My name is Aura. As to why, he did it out of love for you. " Jean shook her head. " "No it was all that powder's fault. He doesn't love me." Aura tucked the child's hair behind her ears. "That so call lust powder doesn't last that long and you were the one who drank it not him.He only got a slight dusting. Trust me I've known him for a long time and I can tell you he's never felt the way he's felt about you.Did you know he gave that couple a chance at redemption? It will take them 100 years, but it's better then nothing and that's because of you. You gave him a heart and that's not nothing to anyone, especially him."
Jean put her hand on her still flat stomach. Her eyes going to the angel.Aura laid a hand on top of Jeans. " No he will not know.Unless you want him to." Jean shook her head choking on her sorrow." No. Maybe one day but not now." Aura nodded her agreement. "Would you like to see her? I can give you a rough picture of what she will look like." Jean clutched at her heart. "No, I want it to be a surprise. " Jean blushed and then added.
"Thank you though." The angel kissed her forehead. "I only wish I could have done more." Jean began to cry, Aura hugged her softly. "If it is too hard for you I can make you forget him completely. You could start over, with a false memory of......" Jean shook her head. " No I want to remember him.....I love him. " She sobbed into the angel's feather soft garments.
The Seer coughed as the now disguised angels came on board the private jet. Wendy and Phoebe both ran frantically, nearly fighting to get to Jean's side. "Ladies, please she is in delicate condition." The two nearly jumped back. The Seer said."3,2,1 wake." She smiled sadly as she heard the new mother cry. To distract the girl she said. "Phoebe, introduce us." Phoebe paled. "Ah yeah, Jean do you remember my summer camp years?" Jean was allowed to sit up but not to get out of the man's big arms. "Yes." Jean replied. Phoebe itched the back of her neck. The Seer sighed. " Dear lady please forgive my niece. She views me as the big bad blind wolf of her training days. The same training you, your friends and family will have to start. Things are coming and we must be prepared. Don't worry no one gets past Heaven's Gate's, plus we train with angels so we can handle all sorts of blackened slime. Not even Lucifer is that dumb."Jean bit her lower lip. The Seer nodded. "Let's go home gentlemen we have a lot to do."
10 years later.
Aura braided her red and greyish hair, her grey eyes seeing far too much for the normal nearly 10 yr old should. "Mommy did my daddy love me?" Jean curled the towel around her wet head. "Yes." The Seer said if the king ever knew he had a child he would kill her to recover the power that he'd lost. The fact that Aura was already showing near adult powers in her training. Had Jean more then a little worried. As her own first mission 5 yrs ago had gone terribly wrong. It was to have been an easy one. A recently dececeased congressional leader had died before getting their bill passed. Simple enough from what the report had lead them to believe. At first she talked to them, but the soul had been inconsolable and become violent. She'd been hurt so badly that her angel leader had had to heal her instead of going to the hospital.
Jean snapped back to the now, as William's eyes in her daughter's face looked up at her. "If daddies in heaven why can't he come see us? I mean Uncle Crabby can. Why can't daddy?" Jean was nearly undone. She held her daughter tightly and took a breath to steady herself. " Uncle Crabby has been in heaven far longer then daddy. Daddy's just a fledgling, but trust me when he can he will." Jean couldn't help the tears that trickled down. "I'm sorry mommy." Jean wiped the tears away from both of their faces and smiled. "Don't be baby. Tears mean I love him. That says he's never far from my heart.Right next to you." Nina knocked on their front door. "You guys ok? Seer wants to see you both." The two became still. The Seer never sent Nina unless it was serious.
William sat in prayer but as always he could not give it the respect he needed to give it. Megan frowned at his depressed back. "You haven't been right since you went over there." William stiffened. "I have nothing to do with her.You saw the license burn. Heard my statement....." Megan growled and left him. She had hoped that with that bitch gone he would make her his wife. Did he not see how much she loved him? No. All he could do was cover with tricks to hide the fact that he was now less then what he had been. All because of her. William could not recover as long as Jean was still on his mind. With that in mind Megan walked to the elite guards room. Nodding to her favorite of the moment, he bowed to her and followed her to his quarters. As his door closed he grabbed her, only to be struck. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and watched her pace around his room. "What is it you desire my lady?" She snarled at him. " I am not your lady. I will be his but first we must cure him of his weakness." The man paled. "You're going after her? " Megan shook her head and smiled. "No my dear, you will. Be my recon and you will sit beside me if he cannot give up his folly." The guard thought about his Lord. He had not been the same after...
"You're wrong. He hasn't been the same since their first night together. We both know the powder doesn't have that kind of potency. Not to keep going back and he's been celebite since he cut ties with her....I'm sorry I can't. He's in love with her." Megan for a moment nearly burst with her hatred and then shrugged it off crooking her finger at him to come closer. He eyed her hesitantly. "Come, you please me. I am so glad you are loyal to him and are such a romantic. Not many are. Perhaps there is a future for us." That finished the job. He smiled warmly, his eyes on some future day and then suddenly it all ended in a swift few touches. Megan spit on the body that would remain standing till someone entered and touched him. She sighed heavily as he had been one of her best lovers in some time. Now to wait and give the man some respect as a long stamina lover. She walked around and made herself comfortable before settling down and setting the alarm on his lovely handcrafted clock. Tomorrow she'd set out and finish what should have been done 10 yrs ago.
Jean blinked at the Seer as the woman smiled at her after giving her the news. "Aura is too outstanding a student to not have out in the field and her work in and out of class is close to the angels own. From healing arts to strategies, she is definitely her father's daughter. With her mother's heart." The Seer looked at where the girl sat brimming with pride. "What do you think Aura?" Jean stood up more then angry. "How dare you! All this time you've been waiting for just this moment to train and use her." Phoebe stepped in and was tossed aside like a rag doll. The Seer smiled.
"I needed a true reaction from you and now I have it. Aura you will graduate this year, but you will not be going out in the field. I will be sending the two of you out though. We have houses as you know all around the world to keep an eye out for trouble. Nina and Paul will be part of the entourage as well as some of your friends." Jean eyed her there was something wrong. "What's wrong?" The Seer winced. "There's trouble coming our way. Stronger then I believed possible, my vision is cloudy and that is never good for a Seer. Heaven's Gates are no longer beyond being tampered with. And as you know we have as many enemies as we do friends. I'm afraid it is best that we scatter for the time being." Jean stilled. "Let me stay behind. I can handle them, I'm the soul ferry after all." The Seer shook her head. " No. You don't get it. You have to survive, the two of you are more important then this whole bases existence. When all this is done you can restart it. " Aura started to panic. " But you'll be there to help. We can't have a home without you. Please, please you can't die. I already lost so many. I don't want to lose you too." The near 10 yr old ran and hugged the Seer who hugged her back. An angel called Pluto because of his far away gaze and frozen blue tinged feathers smiled softly and touched the child's head before picking her up. His voice a warm timber. "I've known the Seer since before she made the sacrifice of her eyes. Back when she was just like you and I've never known a more stubborn and strong woman in all my days. If we go down it will be one hell of a fire, one to make even my fallen brother feel the flames. I said only 'if' not 'we will.' Serine likes to make the outlook seem so depressing but that's only to get me too offer up some pity for her. But I'm fresh out baby." He smiled and tickled Aura to make her laugh. Before letting the child down. Serine and Pluto watched them go. "You know what's coming why hide the fact we'll be wiped out." Pluto sighed. "You know Heaven's Gates is just some buildings and forest. People are what make our family. You taught me that in my darkest hour. You restored my faith with you love and sacrifice." He kissed her for the first time since before her sacrifice. "I love you. " She finally whispered in his ear. He squeezed her tightly to him. He sighed as his wings suddenly rushed the room and his status rose with the confession. "God how I've longed for those words from your lips." Pluto eased off her dark glasses and gently kissed her dead white eyes. Which found their way back to their vibrant pale blue color that always startled people and captivated angels. "Oh damn you!" Serine cried as she beheld the Captain of the Arch-Angel's Brigade. He gave a cocky smile.
"What don't you like it?"
