Jamie let her hair unwind as she made the corner of the neighborhood she had taken under her wing, she relaxed a moment before she found herself up against the wall. His strong male scent accosted her and she almost looked into those bedamned eyes. Byakuya felt his whole body stiffen as he held her arms up against the wall. "Why do you keep bothering me! Have you bewitched me!" Jamie snorted. "Please. Me bewitch you? You must be joking." She sneered. Byakuya opened his mouth and then Jamie felt the hit, right across the face. She moved fast, so fast she hoped that those there would not see it. "You bastard!" She could hear Fang Si say as he made for another punch and then had her catch it in her grip. "Oh God! J! Are you alright? I didn't mean....He was...." She looked at the 20 year old man with a steady gaze. The youth hit his knees in front of her bowing his head. "Si?" He raised his head. Tears streaming down. She smiled softly. "Stand." She offered him her hand, which he took. Jamie's other hand was busy ensuring Byakuya would remain behind her, safely. "I know what it may have looked like, and in many instances you'd have been in the right. But not in this case....." Jamie toed the dirt and looked slightly down. "He's my mother's adopted brother. Every time I buck the powers that be they toss him in to blood hound me to death. So its really my fault any of this happened."
Si reddened. " I understand. Please accept my apology sir, I didn't know she had family around. We've been looking after her when she comes back from that fancy school she goes off to." Byakuya coughed lightly. "I accept it. My sister will need to talk to my niece, if you'll excuse us." He pulled on her hand that was just relaxing its hold on his jacket. Pulling her off balance he dragged her under his arm without looking back at the rabble. Jamie allowed him what he needed until they were out of sight in the nearest alley. "Enough! " She pushed herself out of his grip. "How you feel or don't is not my doing!" Byakuya frowned and advanced on her only to find that she'd flashed stepped behind him. "How is it you can do the flash step?" Jamie stretched leisurely. "My bag will find its way home, my boys will make sure it does." He could hear her smile and found he could barely stand her easy way with the human trash. She shook her head. "You are blinder then blind. Come let us take this to a more private place. You need humbling." Byakuya frowned. "Humbling? I do not need it. You do." That made her laugh but it was not light or a snickering sound but rather a hollow cruel sound. "Then come follow me and let us see which of us is right." She flashed but slowly allowing him to catch her at every block until they reached a hill that over looked the town, but far enough no one would see.
One Hour Later
Byakuya had yet to even cut the fabric on the objective that was his own coat that sat on her shoulders. Her face cold still and serious, not one ounce of sweat not one muscle twitched she flashed as he had wanted her to so he could see it happen, yet at every flash he lost every turn she was just out of reach. Impossible! Then she held up a hand and shook her head. "Captain you are fast, you are agile and more then competent to handle most opponents but not me. I have been broken beaten and humbled. Even at my most arrogant time I have never thought of people being as low as you felt about those young men. If you had simply asked to have a word with me, the fight would not have been necessary. Even if I would have had a hissy fit they would have laughed at me and asked who the hell you were. With my word they would have forced me to have a word with my mother's dog." Byakuya caught her in his arms rather then trying to score with his sword. "I've caught you." Jamie smashed her head into his and flashed out of his arms. "Yes of course, you did. But the rule was to slice or cut the coat. Not catch no reward. Unless you have learned some humility." Jamie turned to go. "Wait!" She waited. "Why?" Jamie turned to him. Why? Why? Tears filled her eyes but she refused to let them fall.
" To fill my loneliness and to keep me humble. No matter how silly I may be at times, in the end only I remain. Only I." The last sadly softly echoed as she vanished from his sight his coat floated and twisted in a sudden wind that kicked up in her absence.
