The forest was silent as the wind buffeted the trees, leaves. The ground dirt felt hard and frost bitten, while the icey wind chilled the fur's of all animals in the area.
A gray Psuedo wolf walked through the forest, her silver pelt shimmering from the cold and her sea blue eyes glazed from tiredness. She glanced around the frosty area as she came to an open clearing.
"Where are they?" The female wondered, outloud, "wheres my pack? This is our camp! So where'd everyone go?"
The female wolf sniffed the air, with her shiny black nose slicing through the wind, but there wasnt even a faint scent of her missing group, although she did pick up another strange smell.
The female lowered her head then once realizing there was another smell she quickly lifted her slim gray head high over her broad gray shoulders again, and sniffed the air.
"What is that?" Her voice shook from fear and exhaustion. "It smells weird, like crisp, or burnt."
Then her eyes widened with fear as her pupils shrunk smaller then the tip of her claws. "I-I know that scent anywhere! Its a fire! Theres a fire in the forest!" She yowled.
The female darted away from the deserted clearing and ran through the forest, all around her fire blazed and smoke polluted her eyes and sense of smell. She stopped running and coughed trying to breath in whatever air there was but it kept getting harder and harder as the seconds passed by. Then finally, the female saw movement, without thinking she ran towards it.
As she neared, the female dropped behind a berry bush as she tripped over a large tree root. Then the female saw the wolves. She didn't reconize any of the but knew they were no threat.
She could make out the dark shapes of the strangers, one was a large male wolf, although from where she saw he was just a big heap of blurry shadows, and beside him stood a medium sized female wolf, her limbs shaking as she wailed in fear. Then the female wolf noticed pups at her paws, they looked barley oldn enough to leave the den, let alone be out in a fire, although all the shapes looked as if they were blurry black shadows. The gray female guessed that the fire was corrutping with her vision.
Then, the gray female wolf jumped as she heard a howl. She quickly glanced over to see what wolf had made the threatening howl but then leaped up as somthing poked her in the side.
The gray female wolf's eyes shot open faster then a bolt of lightning and she leaped off the ground, knocking the wolf that had pocked her the opposite direction.
The female wolf stared wildly around for a few seconds but then realized that everything she had just seen was a dream. The gray female wolf was back in her camp with her pack mates sleeping bodies spread out, while surrounding her own, there heated breath's warming the air. She tried to stand up but was half shaken off the aggitaed body of one of her pack mates that she just realized she landed on when she jumped.
The other pack mate, that she had kicked in the opposite direction, rose to his paws and walked towards her. As he reached her, the male loomed over her, his size made her seem smaller then a two week old pup, and her ears flatted in fear. "What was that all about?" Her pack mate sneered, "I had only pocked you once with my nose, to tell you to stop fidgetting when you shot out of your nest like a load of rabbits, Wind!"
The gray female that had caused all the trouble, called Wind, looked shyly down at her paws. "I-Im sorry Hawk, I had a nightmare and you scared me, thats all."
Hawk snorted impatiently then glanced at there other pack mate that Wind had landed on, before glanceing back at her with a hard stair, "And what about Shakespeare? He's the one you fell on after all!"
Wind looked towards Shakespeare and saw him shaking his pelt to clear all the dust off. "I'm sorry, Shakespeare." Wind apolijized.
"Dont sweat it, Wind. With all your fidgeting I couldn't sleep anyway." He joked, although Wind shrugged.
Then Shakespeae laid back down in his spot and closed his eyes, with a snort of agitation Hawk followed his lead and went back to his own spot.
Wind sighed then slowly rose from where she was sitting and walked over to a fresh puddle of water and licked a couple drops.
Wind's ear twitched as she hear the bushes shiwvel behind her, but before Wind could react, a large force brought her flopping down to the spot where she stood.
"Erol! Get off of me!" Wind growled, she was in no mood to play with her best friend today. Erol laughed and jumped off Wind, her tail high in triumph. "I told you I'd get you back" Erol spat playfully.
Wind recalled yesterday when Erol and Wind were playfighting and Wind had suprise attacked Erol and pinned her down, winning the game. She should have realized that Erol wouldn't let that go!
"So anyway" Erol interupted her thoughts, "what are you doing up so early? Its before sunhigh? The forest isnt even up yet!"
Wind yawned, Erol had just reminded her of how tired she was, but Wind wasnt ready to go back to sleep yet.
"I had a nightmare" Wind admitted.
Erol met her eyes with sympathy, but didnt push her any farther, or try to bring the memory of the dream back. She just looked up at the dark night sky, which was turning to a milky yellow, dawn. The breeze chilled Wind's fur and the area had a ghostly silence, Erol was right, the forest wasnt even up yet.
"Come on" Erol brushed her pelt against Winds and calmly led her back to Wind's spot where she had slept during the night. "you need some more rest." Wind didnt argue just laid down and was comforted by Erol's warm pelt and her soothing breathing. And not long after, Wind drifted into a calm sleep.
