There was a huge building in the middle of Manhattan in New York.
Title: Manhattan from the sky (credit to Celine <3)
Girlies in the story: Moosh (Hilarie Burton), Holly (Candice Accola), Ale (Michelle Williams), Rachel (Nina Dobrev), Laura (Cobie Smulders) & Margot (Ashley Benson)
Other characters (the men, basically): Zayn Malik, Bryan Greenberg, Josh Holloway, Keegan Allen, Ed Westwick, Christian Bale, Milo Ventimiglia & Corey Monteith
- I would just like to point out that even though the male characters are "the actors", in a way, they're not the actors in this fic, they're just men who look like them and are them, but.. they're not famous. Ok? Get it? :D
- If you have any questions (I LOVE REVIEWS, SO PLEASE COMMENT), ask me. And if you wanna bash, that's ok, too. Trust me, guys, this is not my best fic. But hey, I had to try :) And I think that of this fic I'll publish at least.. 2-3 more chapters. We'll see. But I have it all planned until the end now, so it shouldn't be too long.
- And about the titles, got no idea. For this fic I just use whichever song that was playing on youtube for me whenevr I was picking the title, so.. :P Dedicated work, I know XD

Chapter 1; I see signs now all the time

There was a huge building in the middle of Manhattan in New York. In the building there was an apartment. It had six bedrooms, and it was more like a studio, because it was so wide and elegant and all the things you could hope for in a home. But as Moosh stared at the view from the front door, she was frowning, and hoping she hadn’t just bought the house.
See, Moosh came from a wealthy family from California, but she had decided to start her own life in New York and become a psychologist. She had done the studies, and she had got a job at a great company. But she had refused to take any of her parents’ money with her. She had a car, and she had her luggage. But there was no way she would afford to play monthly rent for the place.
You would probably ask why Moosh bought such a huge house for only herself at such huge prize. Well, ever since she was a kid, she had wanted to live in Manhattan. And climb on Mount Everest, but that was a whole other story. So, as Moosh looked at the prizes of the places in Manhattan, she had realized that this huge apartment was basically the cheapest. The owner apparently couldn’t find anyone for the place, so the rent wasn’t even as high as with some penthouse places for four people. So Moosh took it. And now the horrible realization came to her. She had to find roommates.
So then Moosh put up an add on the internet.
“A 25-year old girl looking for five roommates. Six bedroom apartment in Manhattan. Preferably girls. Tidy, quiet, not annoying. Mentally sane. No late-night visits from multiple boyfriends.”
After an application like that, Moosh was surprised how quickly she got the responds.
She ended up with five girls, who all seemed reasonably sane.
And soon enough all those girls were standing in the so-far empty apartment.
Moosh eyed the girls. So far they’d said nothing to each other.
The one at the end of the row had dark, curly hair, and she was looking at the apartment pretty suspiciously. Probably thinking that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to move in with total strangers.
The next one had dark hair as well, and she was a bit taller. She was texting on her phone, and then said something Moosh couldn’t hear to the girl at the end of the row, who nodded.
The one next to her had blonde hair, and a sweet smile. She looked excited and happy to find a good apartment.
And the next one had blond-ish hair, and she was looking around the house, apparently finding many flaws in it, for she was frowning much like Moosh had when she’d first entered the apartment.
And the last one was actually Moosh’s old high school friend. Her name was Holly, and she had blond hair, just like Moosh did. She smiled at Moosh, and said quietly: “Nice place.”
Moosh just smiled. She used to be pretty close to Holly, but they drifted apart during last year of high school. Moosh hadn’t realized that it would be this Holly.
“So, do we just pick our own bedrooms?” the one at the end with dark hair asked.
“Yeah, sure”, Moosh smiled, and with that all the girls left the room, leaving Moosh just standing there.

The one with the dark curly hair pulled the other one with dark hair through the apartment, and they picked bedrooms that were next to each other.
“I have a better view”, the curly girl, Rachel, said, as the other one entered her room.
“Yes, but I bought a new bed, and it’s bigger than yours”, Laura said as she sat on her bed.
Rachel chuckled and walked from the window. “Remind me why I asked you to move here with me.”
“Because your old apartment building burnt down”, Laura chuckled.
“Stupid kids playing with matches”, Rachel groaned. “It was a good apartment, and it was close to the hospital.”
“Speaking of”, Laura said and took one of Rachel’s hats from on top of her bags and put it on her head. “Aren’t you finished with your internship today?”
“Yes”, Rachel smirked. “I finally become a resident.”
“I have no idea why you want to be a surgeon, but if that’s what makes you happy..”, Laura said and laid on the bed.
Rachel nodded. “Milo’s going to come over today.”
“Oh”, Laura suddenly jumped up, and Rachel watched her suspiciously. “I mean, cool.”
“I’m gonna stop by at the hospital soon”, Rachel said as she got up. “You keep him company until I get back.”
“Su-sure”, Laura hoped she wasn’t blushing.
Rachel turned back to her at the door. “Do you want to go and look for a space for the record label tomorrow?”
“Oh, it’s not going to happen”, Laura said quietly.
“What are you talking about?” Rachel groaned. “Of course it is. You will become the music producer you’ve always wanted to be, and I’ll become the neurosurgeon I’ve always wanted to be. This is it. We’re both in New York. Our dreams are finally happening.”
“Yeah, you’re right”, Laura smiled as she got up, too. “I needed that.”
“Yes, you did”, Rachel smirked, and they walked out the room together.

Margot chose the room closest to the front door. It was partly because it was the first one she noticed and partly because she knew that due to her work, she’d always get home really late.
She put on her reading glasses and put her blonde hair on a ponytail.
“Okay, I can work with this”, she looked around the room. It was a lot bigger than the one in her old, crappy apartment. But the rent was split, and it was almost the same amount as in the old place, so it was a good investment.

There was a knock on her door, and as she looked up, the girl with the blond-ish hair smiled a little.
“Can I borrow a pen?” she asked. “My bags are all messed up, and I just had an inspiration.”
“Oh, sure”, Margot said and took a pen out of her pocket. “I always carry one around anyway. I’m a waitress.”
The girl nodded, and took out her small notepad and wrote something on it.
“Are you a writer?” Margot asked.
“Gosh, no. A fashion designer. Ale”, Ale offered her hand, and Margot shook it. “Margot.”
“So, you won’t be a waitress forever, will you?” Ale asked as she looked around the room.
“No, I want to be a… singer. But I need to get a lot of money first”, Margot said.
“Sounds good”, Ale said. “Are you, though?”
“Huh?”
“Any good?” Ale asked.
“I’m not gonna sing right now”, Margot said awkwardly.
“No, that’s fine. We’ll have a karaoke night sometime, and then you can sing”, Ale said and left the room.

Moosh stared from across the hallway as Holly unpacked. She hadn’t talked to her in so long, and now it just felt awkward. But she had to be polite.
“Hi”, she entered the room carefully, and Holly smiled.
“Nice place, indeed. I like the room. How did you scoop this baby?” Holly asked as she looked around the room.
“Oh, just luck, I guess”, Moosh said and stayed at the doorway. “So… what do you do these days?”
“I’m a kindergarten teacher”, Holly said. “How about you?”
“I’m a psychologist”, Moosh said.
“Oh, really?” Holly smirked. “I always figured you’d become like a lawyer or something.”
“Why?”
“Because you were kind of smart and serious in high school”, Holly said.
“Right”, Moosh said, not wanting to ask why.
Holly chuckled and threw Moosh a candy bar. “Are you nervous about people living in your house?”
“It’s not really my house”, Moosh said as she opened the candy bar. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome. When do you have to get up for work?”
“Around 7 am. You?”
“6 am. I always have to go and prepare everything before the kids arrive”, Holly said. “But I love it.”
“That Rachel girl is a doctor. You know what that means.”
“Oh, my God. Early stumbling through the corridors”, Holly groaned.
“And Margot is a waitress.”
“Late stumbling through the corridors.”
“Right”, Moosh chuckled, and they both laughed.

After they were all done with their unpacking, they all went about their business. Margot started to prepare for work, Holly locked up in her room to read a book, Moosh turned on the TV, Ale called her friends about the latest parties, Laura listened to music and Rachel took a shower and got dressed for work.
“I thought doctors go to work in the morning”, Ale said as Rachel rushed towards the front door.
“I was paged. And we don’t always.. It’s my last day of being an intern”, Rachel explained as she put on her jacket and smiled awkwardly.
“She becomes a resident today”, Laura said proudly from the couch. She had her earphones on, and she was eyeing the TV with Moosh.
“Awesome. Whatever that means”, Margot said.
“It means I get my own interns”, Rachel said, checked her pager and opened the door. “Laura, if Milo shows up, keep him company. I won’t be too late”, and then she was out the door.
“Who’s Milo?” Ale turned to Laura.
“Her boyfriend.”
“Oh, is he hot?” Holly asked.
“Your first question?” Moosh smirked.
“As always.”
“He is hot”, Laura said thoughtfully, playing with her iPod.
The other girls exchanged meaningful looks, but Laura didn’t notice.
“I better be off, too”, Margot said as she got up. “I have to go and help open the bar.”
“We should totally come and have a drink there sometime”, Holly said.
“Yeah, do that. I could use a little cheering up. The place is so moody”, Margot said as she, like Rachel before her, grabbed her jacket and put it on.
“We will, soon, then”, Moosh said. “Have fun!”
“If I only could”, Margot chuckled and walked out the door.
Ale grabbed her phone as she got a text, and Moosh stared at her excited expression. “Someone you like?”
“Sort of”, Ale said. “See, I’m working for this fashion agency. I barely do anything, just fetch them coffee. It’s my way to work myself up to the system. Anyway, there’s this absolutely gorgeous model there, and we’ve been flirting, and he’s just really exciting.”
Moosh nodded. “Is he hot?”
“He’s a model. Of course he is”, Ale chuckled like it was a fact.
“Okay. How did you end up in this apartment anyway?” Moosh continued.
“Well, I used to live with my parents, but figured it was time to fly out of the nest”, Ale said. “Actually, they did, when they gave me an ultimatum. Finally move out or they’ll withdraw all my money. But no matter, I wanted to leave anyway.”
“My mother didn’t want me to leave”, Holly said. “But I found a good place to work, and I wanted a good apartment to go with it. And I had one. But that was with my boyfriend, and when we broke up, he got to keep the place. He was kind of a jerk.”
They all turned to Laura, but as she took her earphones off, she merely said: “Rachel asked me to move with her.”
“So you had no proper reason to move in with four strangers and Dr. Resident?”, Ale asked.
“Well, I wanted to… I kind of.. I would like to start my own record label. And New York seems the appropriate place to do it”, Laura said.
“That’s awesome!” Moosh smirked.
“Yeah, if only could pull it off. At the moment I’m working as a book editor. It’s fun, but it’s not for me”, Laura said and turned to the TV, gesturing that her part of the conversation was over.
“I think you should do it. Then you could make an album with Margot”, Ale said. “It would be awesome.”
“Yeah”, Laura said thoughtfully, and after a few minutes there was a knock on the door that made Laura jump up, but Holly beat her to the door.
There was a good-looking guy with dark hair at the door, and as he spotted Laura from the doorway, he smiled. “So this is the place, huh?”
“Yeah. Guys, this is Milo”, Laura said as she walked to him. Holly stepped from the door to let him in.
“Nice place”, Milo said. “So, where is Rachel?”
“Uh…”
“Why do I even ask?” Milo groaned. “You know, it’s lucky I see her once a month these days.”
“It’s very time-consuming”, Laura said. “Being a doctor.”
“That’s what she says”, Milo said and turned to the other girls. “Hi. I’m Rachel’s boyfriend who she rarely remembers.”
“Hi”, they all said.
“Don’t say that”, Laura sighed, but she couldn’t help but to feel a little happy inside that he felt that way. And right after that she felt sick with herself.
“I thought you said there were four others. I count three”, Milo said. “What were the names… Margot, Moosh, Ale and something..”
“Holly”, Holly snapped. “My name is the most common and that’s the one you forget?”
“Well, maybe that’s why I forgot it”, Milo said. There was something very I-don’t-give-a-crap-what-the-world-thinks-about-me about him. He was definitely someone you’d label as a “bad boy”.
“We’re Moosh, Ale and Holly. Margot is working”, Moosh said.
“Looks like my girlfriend is not the only one”, Milo muttered and turned to Laura.
“Please give her a break. She’ll be home soon. She becomes a resident today”, she said.
“As if I know what that means”, Milo snapped.
“It means she gets her own interns”, Moosh, Holly and Ale said almost at the same time.
Milo raised his eyebrows, and then followed Laura to her room.

Margot was cleaning the counter ready for drinks. The bar was open, but it usually took at least 15 minutes for the first costumers to come. The bar was dark and moody, like Margot had said, but there was also a small stage with a dim spot light. Margot had often dreamed about standing there and singing, but she was too scared. What if she’d mess up?”
“I think it’s going to rain tonight”, she was torn from her thoughts when her favorite costumer – who also happened to be extremely cute – walked in.
“Hey, Corey. What can I get you?” Margot smiled.
“Let’s start with a beer”, Corey said as he sat opposite of her on the other side of the counter. “You look tired.”
“Moving day”, Margot said as she handed him his beer. “I found a great place. Only problem is that I have to share it with five other girls.”
“That is a place I would not mind visiting”, Corey chuckled as he took a sip of his drink.
Margot playfully his hit arm with the rag and then smiled. “They seem nice, but I don’t know. I’m a very private person.”
“And yet you want to be a singer, howling your deep thoughts for the whole world to hear”, Corey said.
“I guess I’m just so messed up, then”, Margot chuckled.
“Nah, I believe nothing’s too broken”, Corey said and took another sip. “But seriously, can I come and see your place sometime?”
Margot was a bit taken back by that request, but smiled and said: “I think that can be arranged.”
“Good”, Corey smiled, and suddenly Margot was sure she could find material for lyrics of at least ten songs.

It was almost midnight when Rachel stepped out of the hospital. She had helped out at the ER, and afterwards she’d had to take a shower. And now she was supposed to go home. She groaned, putting her hair up on a lazy bun and looked around. She knew Milo’d still be there, but she thought, hating herself, that she really didn’t want to go spend any time with him after such an exhausting day. And he wouldn’t even be happy for her, she was sure.
Rachel spotted the bar across the street where the doctors usually went to drink after a long day. Why couldn’t she be one of those doctors?
She entered the bar. It was quite clean for a bar, but as dark as bars usually were. She’d only gone there once before, after her first day of internship. She’d gotten completely wasted, and she had sworn that was the first and last time that’d ever happen. Gladly Laura had been there with her to drive her home.
Rachel stood on a bar stool and buried her head in her hands. She groaned, just because she was so tired. She had her car-and house keys on her hands, and she accidentally dropped them to the floor.
Before she could move to pick them up, someone else already had. As she looked up, she was facing a very good-looking man, who smiled at her and handed her the keys.
“Thanks”, she said rather quietly, and kept staring as he sat on the stool next to hers.
“I’ve had days like that”, he said.
“Days like what?” Rachel asked, but to her shame, she was more focusing on his eyes and his great, brown hair. She always noticed hair first in men. Some small conscience reminded her that Milo had good hair as well, but she didn’t even hear it.
“Exhausting days at the hospital”, the man smiled.
“How did you know I was a doctor?” Rachel asked in confusion.
“Your exhaustion, the fact that there’s a hospital right across from here and the fact that you still have your ID in your hand”, he said and gestured at the ID card Rachel had in her other hand.
“Oh”, she chuckled. “Wow, I’m very impressive today.”
The man merely smiled and turned towards the bar.
Rachel wasn’t good at small talk, especially not with good-looking men, so she just went with what she knew. “Are you a doctor, too?”
“Yes. But I’m just passing by here”, he said.
“Yeah, I would probably have noticed you at the hospital”, Rachel blurted out, and regretted doing so immediately. She didn’t know if it was flirting, but if it was, she had to stop it immediately. But he seemed merely pleasant. He didn’t seem interested in getting in her pants. And why would be, the small voice in her head reminded Rachel.
“I’m Christian”, the man smiled.
“Oh? I’m an atheist, but I guess-“, she paused as he spotted him staring at her. “Oh, you meant your name, right? Christian?”
“Yes”, Christian said. “But that was a new one”, he laughed.
Rachel laughed awkwardly, trying to hide her embarrassment and the extended her hand, saying: “Rachel.”
“Nice to meet you, Rachel”, Christian smiled. “So, what line of doctor are you?”
“I’m an intern… Actually, I’m a resident now. Surgery”, Rachel said.
Christian nodded. “So am I. A surgeon, I mean:”
Rachel chuckled. “I figured.”
“Why?”
“Because you have good hair”, Rachel said simply and turned to her drink that she’d ordered at a point she couldn’t even remember.
“That’s your reason?” Christian asked in disbelief, but his expression was merely amused.
“Yes”, Rachel smirked. “Surgeons have good hair.”
Christian laughed, and then said: “Congratulations, by the way.”
“For what?”
“Didn’t you say you just became a resident?”
Rachel couldn’t help smiling proudly as she said: “Yes. I think you’re the only one who’s going to congratulate me about that.”
And at that moment Rachel didn’t even remember she had thought of going home at one point.

Margot watched as people after people climbed on the little stage, drunk, tipsy or sober, and sang. Either horrible, decently or well. But after every performance Margot felt envy towards the singer. They had the guts to just go out there and do it.
“Go and sing”, she turned to look at Corey. After two hours he was still sitting there, talking to her, but he’d changed from beer to whiskey a while ago.
“Do I need to call you a cab again?” Margot changed the subject, eyeing Corey as he tried to keep still.
“No”, he shook his head. “It’s not more than like 5 blocks.”
“Then you should get going before having another drink”, Margot said.
“I am fine”, Corey said simply. “I’ll tell you what. I won’t have another drink if you go out there and sing.”
Margot just stared at him, which caused Corey to nod and say: “Just as well. Another one, then.”

It was about 2 am when Rachel finally stepped in the apartment, and after she’d closed the door after her, she was surprised to see someone still awake. Milo and Laura.
“Oh”, she merely said. They stared at her from the couch, and as Laura looked just relieved she was back, Milo looked angry.
“You’ll be home soon, huh?” he asked quietly.
“I’m sorry”, Rachel buried her head in her hands as she moved towards them. “I lost track of time.”
“I called Jenny. They said you left the hospital around midnight”, Laura said quietly.
“I… went to have a drink at the bar”, Rachel said.
“You don’t drink. And especially not alone”, Milo said as he stood up, and it was clear Laura was trying to make herself as invisible as possible, moving further into the couch. “You were alone, weren’t you?”
Rachel paused. Nothing had happened between her and Christian, obviously. But she didn’t feel any need to mention him to Milo. “Yes, of course. I’m sorry.”
“You could have called”, Milo sighed as he walked towards the door.
“Are you seriously walking out on another conversation, again?” Rachel asked as she watched him.
“This wouldn’t be a conversation. It would just be another fight, and to be honest, Rachel, I have better things to do”, and with that Milo slammed the door closed behind him.
Rachel sighed, and turned to Laura.
“Congratulations”, she said.
“Thanks”, Rachel said as she sat next to Laura on the couch. “I wasn’t alone”, she said after a small quiet moment.
Laura’s eyes widened as she turned to look at her. “Did you-“
“Of course I didn’t cheat on Milo. Why would anyone want to sleep with me, anyway?” Rachel snapped. “I just met this guy and we talked. He was gorgeous, and he’s a doctor, too. But it’s not really about him, it’s… He… I felt more free talking to him than I ever did with Milo.”
Laura nodded.
Rachel sighed and closed her eyes. “Rough day.”
Laura leaned her head against Rachel’s shoulder and asked: “What was his name?”
“Christian”, Rachel said quietly.

The next morning the first alarm clock to go off was Rachel’s. But she only had to get in at 7 that morning, so as she, after her shower, walked into the kitchen, she saw Holly standing there, waiting for coffee to be ready.
“Hi”, Rachel said as she sat down at the table.
“Hi. You’re up late. I imagined you’d already rushed out the door to go save lives”, Holly said, pouring coffee to two cups and handed one to Rachel as she sat down as well.
“I get to go in later today. I was on call for 72 hours this week”, Rachel yawned.
“This is later?”
“For me”, she nodded. “Besides, I stayed up pretty late last night.”
“Yes, your boyfriend was a hottie”, Holly nodded knowingly, taking a sip from her drink.
“No, I wasn’t with Milo”, Rachel muttered, in her thoughts. “I wasn’t with anyone.”
Holly chuckled, and then got up. “I better get at it. I have to go pick up my friend on the way to the kindergarten. And I promised to bring in doughnuts today.”
“You’re welcome to bring some home when you get back”, Rachel said as Holly finished her coffee and moved towards the TV area. There weren’t really separate rooms in the apartment, except for the obvious like the bedrooms and the bathrooms.
“I just might. Have fun saving lives”, Holly said and rushed out the door.
“You, too”, Rachel muttered, and only after a moment she realized that what she’d said had made no sense.

At 8.15 Moosh entered her workplace. She was working at a pretty private practice with stuff like massage, healing with herbs and of course therapy. She loved her job, and she had become attached to her patients.
“Morning. You have a new case”, the secretary said and handed Moosh a file and a coffee as soon as she was at her reach.
“Thanks, Gretchen”, Moosh said as she took the coffee and examined the file as she entered her office and closed the door.
A 24-year old man named Zayn Malik. That was Moosh’s new patient. “Let’s see”, she muttered as she eyed the file.
He had depression, and after he’d lost his job and his girlfriend all in one week, his parents, who he no longer lived with, had decided to get him some help.
“Well, let’s see if we can make you un-depressed”, Moosh said as she drew a smiley face next to Zayn’s name. She did that with every new case to bring luck.

“Doughnuts. For me?” Bryan, Holly’s co-worker and friend, he taught the opposite class at the kindergarten, asked as he got in the car. Holly had always thought he was really cute with his smile and his messy brown hair, but she’s never thought of him that way.
“No way”, Holly said as she grabbed the box and put it on her lap. “It’s for the kids.”
“You’re like the best teacher ever, bringing treats to the kids every day. Last week, when one of my students fell and hit his leg, all I had to give him was my half-eaten candy bar”, Bryan said.
“Always be prepared”, Holly smirked as she drove towards the kindergarten.
“But that is why I have you”, Bryan said. “How was the new place?”
“It was pretty good, actually. The girls seem cool, and the place is so beautiful. You have to come and see it.”
“I will, I will. Tomorrow?”
“Sure thing.”
Holly smiled at him, and then focused on driving.

Ale was at the fashion agency. She was just done getting coffee for basically the entire crew, and then it was her favorite time of the day. She got to get the measurements of the models, and help the designers in any way they wanted. That was when Ale felt closest to the fashion world.
“Keegan”, she paused, the measure tape in her hand, as she reached the first model.
“Ale, hi. Yes, I’m back. They want me as a part of their new catalogue”, Keegan Allen, the model who Ale had told the girls about just the day before, smiled. He was very handsome with his well-kept brown hair and charming smile.
“Oh, right, hi”, Ale snapped out of it and moved closer to him.
“You never answered my text last night. The party was great”, Keegan said as Ale started writing down his measurements.
“Sorry, I was still unpacking”, Ale said. That wasn’t really true. She was sure she could have made time to go to a party, but she really didn’t want to see him at another girls arm, as she always did when she came to his parties.
“It’s fine. I’m having another one this weekend”, Keegan said. “You should come.”
“Maybe I will”, Ale said, avoiding looking him in the eye.
“Good”, she missed the fact that Keegan smiled brightly at her, but it was just a part of his charm, it was rarely ever genuine.
“Hold still”, Ale muttered, and continued to do her job.

When Laura woke up, it was almost noon. She was supposed to have lunch with Rachel at the hospital at one. She jumped up and rushed to take a shower. When she got out and got dressed, she opened her laptop to check for new emails. She worked with the scripts she got at home, so she rarely ever had to get up early or actually go to the agency.
Next thing she did, as she did every morning, was check her messages. And indeed, there was one.
“Hey, it’s me”, she heard Milo’s voice that made her heart skip a beat. “Can you tell Rachel that I’m sorry? I was a jerk, as I always am, but you know it wasn’t all my fault. Anyway, let’s meet for dinner tonight.”
Laura groaned as she hit redial. Of course Milo didn’t answer. He was probably still asleep.
“Yes, I will tell Rachel that you’re sorry, but you know what? I’m pretty sure she’d prefer hearing it from you. And so would I, to be honest”
She felt pretty good about what she’d just done, but secretly she wished Milo’d never hear that message.

“What you need to know about being an intern is this: Wherever I go, you go. You’re not surgeons, not yet”, Rachel was walking along the hospital with her four new interns. She felt so professional. “And you never will be, if you start to do a one-man show. Just follow me. And as for patient care-“, she heard two of the interns, the girl ones, whispering, and she slowly turned to them.
“Would you like to repeat what I just said?” Rachel asked calmly. She couldn’t understand girls like that. They had gone to medical school, and now they were interns. It was a lot of work, and for what? To giggle at work?
“Sorry, Dr. Bennett”, one of the girls tried to put on a straight face. “We just heard about the new attending.”
“What new attending?” Rachel asked with a bored expression. She hadn’t heard anything, so it was probably just a rumor.
“That new attending”, the girls pointed past her, and as she turned around, she paused. And then her eyes widened. In front of her, talking to the chief of surgery was Christian. Yes, he looked more professional in the light of the hospital and with his coat on, but there he was. With his great, great hair.
“Oh, no way”, she whispered.
“I know. I thought that all attendings would be hot, like in Grey’s Anatomy, but from what I’ve heard, he’s the only one”, the other girl said.
“Indeed he is”, Rachel muttered to herself, and without thinking, started walking up to him as the chief walked off. Of course the interns followed, but she didn’t even notice.
“Dr. Bale, is it?” Rachel said in an amused tone, and as he turned to look at her, his eyes widened as well.
“Oh, hi”, he smiled.
“Just passing by?” Rachel asked, trying not to sound insulted that he hadn’t shared his whole personal life with her, a complete stranger.
“Well, I didn’t want to brag or anything. Last night was about you becoming a resident. And are these your minions?” Christian nodded at the interns, but Rachel’s raised eyebrows forced him to turn back to her.
“Uh, yes… Well, did you know you’re the hospital's new McDreamy?”
“A what?” Christian asked, but that’s all he had time for as Rachel walked past him with the interns.
“Do you know him?” one of the girl interns smirked.
“New rule: shut up.”

Margot had a terrible headache. It wasn’t that uncommon for her. It had been a late night at the bar; she had got home at around 5 thirty, and immediately just fallen on the bed and straight to sleep.
She knew the house must be empty. Everyone was at work, for sure, but then she suddenly heard talk from the kitchen.
“Please don’t be a psychopath”, she muttered as she got up and walked to the kitchen. And what she saw there was Laura talking on the phone, writing something on something that looked like manuscript.
When she noticed Margot, she waved, and turned back to the script.
Margot sat down at the table and put on her glasses, picking up the morning paper, and started to read.
After a while Laura stopped talking, put down the phone and turned to Margot. “Sorry, did I wake you?”
“No”, Margot yawned. “I just don’t get much sleep with the job.”
“Maybe it’s not the best temporary job”, Laura said.
“Maybe not, but it’s what I’ve got, and it’s fine for now”, Margot shook her shoulders.
Laura nodded. “I work from home. But I have to go now, lunch with Rachel.”
“Oh, tell her I say hi”, Margot said as she placed her head on the table and closed her eyes.
Laura chuckled and left.

She reached the hospital, and as soon as she got in, Rachel walked up to her and grabbed her arm. “He works here.”
“Who?”
“The guy I told you about”, Rachel whispered.
“Oh, Christian?” Laura looked around, but Rachel groaned and said: “He’s not here now”, she continued as they started to head for the dining area. “But he’s the new attending.”
“Ooh”, Laura smirked.
Rachel shushed her, and then they reached the dining area. Rachel opened the door, and looked around suspiciously before sitting opposite of Laura at a table.
“Why are you so shocked? It’s not like anything happened between you two”, Laura said. “Should we go get the food?”
“It’s not about that nothing happened”, Rachel said simply. “It’s that I liked him.”
“Like liked him, liked him?” Laura asked.
“I don’t know”, Rachel groaned. “Maybe it was just that things aren’t working with me and Milo, and-“
“He told me to tell you that he’s sorry about last night”, Laura said quickly.
Rachel rolled her eyes. “He hasn’t once apologized to me in person.”
Laura sighed, and said carefully: “Maybe you two should end things, if it isn’t working out.”
Rachel looked at her for a moment, and Laura was afraid she’d realize why she was asking for such a thing, but then she said: “Maybe you’re right. I mean, we have been dating since we were like 18. I think it’s time to let it go.”
Laura tried to act sad. And she was sad, for Rachel. But she had had a huge thing for Milo ever since she’d met him. Actually, not right from the moment, because she’d met him by pushing him out of a tree, but soon afterwards.
“I’ll talk to him tonight”, Rachel said, and got up to get their foods.
And even if Laura would have done a good deed, she felt bad.

Moosh was sitting on her chair, watching Zayn as he sat on the couch. He’d said nothing after he’d showed up, except introduced himself.
“You know, Zayn, talking is a big part of therapy”, Moosh said.
“Studies say that just sitting in therapy helps”, Zayn muttered.
“Well, then imagine what talking would do”, Moosh smirked, but Zayn responded to the sentence in no way.
Moosh pondered on the next sentence before saying: “Life hasn’t really been giving you a break lately, am I right?”
Zayn sighed, and muttered: “No, it hasn’t.”
“Why don’t you start with telling me what happened?” Moosh asked, smiling confidently, and leaned back on the chair, waiting.
Maybe Zayn was a difficult case, but she’d seen much worse.

“And remember, kids, never ever eat rocks. Don’t listen to what the other kids say. They do not make you taller. Okay?” Holly finished the lesson with a different kind of lesson, like she did every day.
Then the bell rang and the kids went out to play for recess. And as they did, Bryan walked into the classroom and said: “Wow, tough lesson. Very exhausting. A doughnut would definitely give me my energy back”, and before he could keep going with the act, Holly handed him a doughnut, and saying thank you, Bryan took a bite.
“What did you learn about?”
“About how Spider-Man does not lose his powers if he takes his outfit off”, Bryan said, his mouth full.
Holly groaned. “When do you teach them something they can work with?”
“I do it all the time”, Bryan said. “You tell them not to eat rocks. I tell them things I see as important. Yeah”, Bryan said, and walked out of the classroom. “And rocks do make you taller!”
“They do not”, Holly shouted after him, just smiled after she knew he couldn’t see anymore.

Ale was out to eat late lunch. It had taken quite a while to get all Keegan’s measurements, and then she’d had to do the same with four other models. She ran to her favorite coffee shop where they sold awesome bagels.
“Thank you”, she shouted, out the door, bagel in hand, after she’d done her shopping, and just as she did so, she ran into someone and they both fell down.
“Oh, I’m sorry!” Ale looked up from her bagel to see a young, handsome man staring at her. He was apparently the one she’d knocked down. She’d been too busy protecting her bagel.
“No, I’m sorry”, Ale said, slightly bewildered as she got up.
The man got up as well, and smiled. “Is your lunch okay?”
“It’ll live”, Ale said before taking a bite.
The man laughed. “Well, I’m glad you’re okay”, and then he started to walk off, but Ale shouted after him: “What’s your name?”
“Ed”, he turned back to her. “Yours?”
“Ale. Hey, Ed, the least I can do is make up for making you fall flat on your ass. So, want to go to dinner tonight?” This was what Ale was good at. Making plans, moving forwards, flirting. But she wasn’t good at being played around, like with Keegan.
“Sure”, Ed said, walking back to her, looking a bit stunned. “Can I call you?”
“Now you can”, Ale said as she took out her pen and wrote her number on the palm of his hand.
“Thanks”, Ed smiled, and watched as she walked away, eating her bagel.

“How about this one?”, Rachel asked. She and Laura were standing in an empty studio apartment that could, with a lot of work, be turned into an actual recording studio.
“Kind of small”, Laura said.
“But cheap”, Rachel said.
“I don’t know...”
“Oh, come on. I know you’re stalling because you’re scared. But we’ve already been to five other places, and I have to get back to the hospital really soon”, Rachel said. “I’m going to buy this for you.”
“What? No!” Laura gasped.
“Consider it an investment for your future”, Rachel said, and walked up to the woman who made the deals for the houses, and Laura just stared at her. Sure, Rachel had more money than she did, she had a bigger trust fund than she did, but this was too much.
“You’ll pay me back”, Rachel said as she walked to Laura after making the deal.
A voice in Laura’s head encouraged her to speak. To tell Rachel that she had feelings for Milo, and that because she did, there was no way Rachel had to pay for her studio. But she couldn’t say anything.
“What is it?” Rachel snapped Laura out of her thoughts when they were already in the cab that was driving Rachel back to the hospital, and then Laura back to the apartment.
“I just… This is too much”, Laura said quietly.
“Relax. I just made an offer. I can withdraw it, if you like”, Rachel said. “But I just want you to have your dreams come true.”
Laura smiled. “Thank you.”
“You are welcome”, Rachel nodded. “By the way, there is a ball at the hospital in a few days. You have to come with me.”
“Why won’t you go with Milo?” Laura asked.
“Because he’d just ruin it for me. And maybe he has a reason. He never liked the fact that I wanted to be a doctor”, Rachel said. “And besides, I left him a message. I’m going to break up with him tonight.”
“Tonight?” Laura asked. “Really?”
“Yes, doing it. And it’s for the best, I’m sure he’ll agree.”
“I’m going to have dinner with him… Should I bring him home after we’re done?”
“No, I think I’ll still be here, so actually could you stop by here after you’re done? I’m sure it’ll be a very peaceful break-up”, Rachel said and got out the car as it stopped in front of the hospital. “See you later.”
“Bye”, Laura smiled and watched Rachel run back into the hospital, and then her phone rang.
“Hey”, she said, and her heart skipped a beat when she heard Milo’s voice say hey back.
“So, are we on for tonight?” Laura asked.
“Yeah, sure. At eight?”
“Seven”, Laura said. “And can we stop by at the hospital afterwards? Rachel has something to tell you.”
“Like what?” Milo sounded annoyed.
“Uuh… Something to suggest, more like. I think so. Like a proposal. Not that kind of proposal, but a suggestion, and I… I don’t know. Can we just do it?”
“Fine, fine. See you at seven”, and then Milo hung up.
“A suggestion?” Laura mocked herself quietly. “What am I, an idiot?”

Margot was watching TV at the empty apartment. Nothing was really on, except reruns of shows. Which suited her just fine.
She looked up as she heard the door open, and smiled as Holly walked in.
“Did you have a nice day?”
“It was fine”, Holly said plainly and sat next to her. “Anything interesting on?”
“Not really”, Margot said as she switched the channels.
“So, tell me, Margot. How is your love life?” Holly asked lazily, putting her feet on the coffee table.
Margot raised her eyebrows. “I don’t have a love life.”
“Sure you do. Everyone does.”
“Well…”, Margot sighed, and then said: “There is this guy who always comes to the bar, he’s pretty cute.”
“Uh-huh. Name?”
“Corey”, Margot felt herself blush. “But he doesn’t see me like that.”
“How do you know?” Holly asked. “Why don’t you ask him out and find out?”
“No”, Margot said firmly. “He’d just turn me down.”
“Tell you what. I’ll come to the bar with you tonight. And I’ll watch him from far; find out if he’s into you. And if he is, you ask him out. If he isn’t, then you have my permission to stay away.”
“What, you being a spy at my workplace, spying on the guy I like? I barely know you”, Margot chuckled.
“Yeah, but how will you ever know me if you don’t try?” Holly smirked. “Are you i?”
Margot thought for a moment, and then nodded. “Yes.”

Rachel just entered the ER when she paused. There was someone familiar there, and when she noticed her, she smirked and waved.
“Hi”, Rachel said as she walked to Moosh. “What are you doing here?”
“I cut my arm”, Moosh said as she showed Rachel the wound on her palm.
“Oh my God”, Rachel gasped. It wasn’t that deep, but it definitely needed stitches.
“I was playing around with the letter-opener”, Moosh said as she watched Rachel get out the stuff to clean the wound with.
“Don’t do that anymore”, Rachel said.
“So this is where you work?”
“Well, I am here and I am at work, so I guess”, Rachel muttered as she focused on the wound.
“It’s nice. Hey, just a question?”
“What?”
“Who is that hot guy walking towards you?”
Rachel turned around just in time to stop herself from bumping into Christian. He smiled, and then said: “Hi. Are you free in an hour?”
“I guess”, Rachel said, and she desperately tried to be able to focus on Moosh’s wound, but it seemed almost impossible.
Moosh was looking from Christian to Rachel in an intrigued matter.
“I have a surgery where I remove a pen from a man’s brain”, Christian said.
“Oh, my God!” Moosh gasped, and they both turned to look at her, but she just smirked and gestured for them to go on.
“Anyway, would you like to scrub in?” Christian turned back to Rachel.
“To make up for lying?” Rachel chuckled.
“I was not lying”, Christian said calmly. “I just didn’t mention the details.”
“Sure, sure. And sure. Neurosurgery is what interests me, anyway”, Rachel said and turned back to Moosh.
“I know”, Christian said, and before Rachel could say anything else, he walked off.
“Oh, my God. Please tell me that was your second boyfriend, because if it wasn’t, that was practically cheating”, Moosh said.
“What are you talking about?” Rachel snapped and got out the equipment for the stitches. “You need a few stitches.”
“I mean, seriously. I could like sense that you were into him. That’s how into him you were. And it’s not like you were flying solo there. And he asked you to scrub in, that’s so-“
“Ordinary in the surgery world”, Rachel muttered. “Don’t make this into a big deal.”
“If I tell you a secret, will you tell me if you like him?” Moosh smirked.
“No.”
“Come on, don’t be a spoil sport. Please”, Moosh tried to do the puppy eyes, but Rachel just focused on the hand. “Please?”
“Fine, if it’ll make you shut up”, she said, but Rachel couldn’t help smiling a bit.
“Well, every time when my patients say nothing interesting”, Moosh said. “I draw on the notepad while they think I’m writing.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Now, tell me. Do you like him?”
Rachel sighed. “I don’t know. I guess. I don’t know him that well yet. But when we talked yesterday, it was like… much better than anything I’ve ever had with Milo. And of course I feel awfully guilty about that, but I am going to break up with him today.”
“Because of McDreamy?”
“No. Do you watch that show, too?”
“Who doesn’t?” Moosh groaned dismissively. “Then why?”
“Because we just don’t work out. He doesn’t love me and I don’t love him”, Rachel shook her shoulders.
“How tragic. You should consider therapy”, Moosh said casually.
“And you should consider letting someone else open your letters”, Rachel said and showed Moosh her stitched hand. “All done.”
“Thank you”, Moosh said as she got up.
“Hey”, she turned back to Rachel, who smiled in amusement. “Was it true what you said about the notepad?”
“Of course not”, Moosh said. “What kind of a therapist do you think I am?” she chuckled and walked away.

Ale was smiling as she entered the apartment. She noticed Holly and Margot by the kitchen table, eating pizza, and she joined them. “Hi.”
“Hey. We’re trying out the pizza places in the area. This is yummy”, Holly said, her mouth full.
“Awesome, I only ate a bagel for lunch”, Ale said and took a slice for herself, but before she could take a bite, Laura had walked into the apartment and taken a slice for herself.
“Four down, two to go”, Holly said.
“We’re the lucky ones who get out early”, Laura said.
“Actually, you are. I’m going to work soon”, Margot said.
“And I’m coming with”, Holly smirked.
“And I have to get ready for dinner with Milo”, Laura said, but kept eating her slice.
“Is he like your boyfriend?” Ale asked.
“What?”
“You seem to spend more time with him than Rachel does”, Margot said. “So Ale has a point.”
Laura avoided their gazes as she said: “No way. Milo is Rachel’s boyfriend.”
“Not for long, I think”, Holly said. “What with the way you two are hanging out.”
“Yeah”, Margot and Ale agreed.
“Come on, guys. Rachel is my best friend, I would never go for her boyfriend”, Laura said.
“Maybe not intentionally”, Ale said.
Laura sighed, and turned to the pizza.

Moosh never went back to the office after her trip to the hospital. Since the practice was private, the hours were flexible. She had gone shopping for new stuff for the apartment, and now she was heading back to the apartment.
As she reached the floor where their apartment was, she spotted someone by the door, but whoever it was, he hadn’t gathered up the courage to knock on the door yet.
“Can I help you?” Moosh asked.
“Oh, hi. Are you living here?” the man asked. He sounded southern. He had messy sandy blond hair, and a kind of I-don’t-care-what-people-think look about him.
“Yes. With five other girls. I assume you’re here for one of them”, Moosh said.
“Is a girl named Holly one of your roommates?”
“Yes, she is, actually. Who are you?”
“I’m her boyfriend. Well, ex-boyfriend”, the man said. “Josh.”
“Nice to meet you”, Moosh said as she opened the door. “She’s all yours.”
“Thank you”, Josh walked into the apartment, followed by Moosh. As she closed the door behind her, she saw Holly staring at Josh like he was a ghost.
“I’m just going to go unpack in the kitchen or something”, Moosh said and slipped past them to the kitchen area. Not too close to actually be in the middle of the moment, and not too far to lose hearing and visual contact.
She joined the rest of the girls, except Rachel, who were all ready to know what the fuzz was about.
“John”, Holly said plainly. “How did you find out where I lived?”
“I called your mom and dad”, Josh said awkwardly. “Nice place.”
“Yeah, a lot nicer than the one you kicked me out from”, Holly snapped.
“I… It’s not as simple as that”, Josh tried, but Holly moved away from him, further towards the kitchen area.
“I don’t care. And in fact, I don’t have time. I’m going out to a bar with my friend Margot here. So why don’t you come back like... never?”
“Holly-“
“Out.”
Josh paused, and watched as Holly just stared at him firmly.
“Okay”, he said, and moved to the door. “But I am sorry.”
“Go”, Holly hissed, and then Josh was out.
“Are you okay?” the girls asked quietly, but Holly just walked into her bedroom and closed the door behind her.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were a neurosurgeon?” Rachel asked as she and Christian were scrubbing out. The surgery had been a success.
“I told you, I didn’t want to brag or seem like I was trying to steal the spotlight”, Christian said.
Rachel smiled. “Why is it that you make everything sound sound considerate and sweet?”
“Because I’m a superhero”, Christian smirked and crossed his arms after he washed and dried them, watching Rachel.
“What?” she asked as she turned to him, hands washed and dried as well.
“You don’t like me very much, do you?” Christian chuckled.
Rachel chuckled as well and crossed her arms just like he did. “I like you.”
Christian smiled. “Okay, fine. But really, don’t worry, I didn’t ask you to scrub in to start anything with you. I’m not like that.”
Rachel blushed slightly. “I didn’t think so.”
“I know, but your friend probably did”, Christian said as he started heading for the door.
“What friend?”
“The one who you were talking to about me at the ER”, Christian smiled and walked out the room.
Rachel was about to say something, but he was already gone. How much had Christian heard, anyway?

Laura was getting ready for dinner. She was nervous. Not really of the dinner, but what would happen afterwards when she’d drive Milo to the hospital. Maybe after Rachel and Milo would be broken up, she could confess her feelings for him. Just maybe.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and after checking how she looked one more time through the mirror, she ran to the door.
“Hi”, she smiled as she opened the door. Milo was standing there, and he smiled back.
“Hi”, he said back. “Are you ready?”
“Yes”, Laura said, and they walked out of the apartment.

“Holly?” Margot knocked on Holly’s bedroom door, but she didn’t have time to do anything else, when Holly already marched out the room. “What? I’m ready. Let’s go.”
"Okay, here we are, the hospital. Yay", Laura said nervously as she stopped the car in front of the hospital.
"What is with you?" Milo turned to look at her. "You were weird all night."
"Nothing. Let's just go", Laura muttered and basically pushed Milo out of the car, following him.
"Oh, you're coming, too?"
"Yes", Laura said, and Milo rolled his eyes as they entered the hospital, and Rachel was there waiting for them, fully clothed, obviously ready to go home.
"So today you get off early?" Milo asked sarcastically.
Rachel tilted her head a little, but didn't answer.
"Come on, let's go", Milo said.
"We need to talk", Rachel said.
Milo paused for a moment, and then turned from Rachel to Laura. "Oh, no way."
"Milo", Rachel groaned. "Come on", she gestured for him to follow her further into the hall, and he did. Laura just stood there, waiting for it to be over.
"I don't know", Rachel said slowly, turning to look at Milo seriously. "If I need to spell this out to you, or if you already know what I'm going at."
"Enlighten me", Milo said.
"It's over", Rachel said. "You must know it's over, too."
Milo hesitated for a moment, and then said: "You're breaking up with me." It wasn't a question.
"I'd rather we call it an agreement", Rachel said quietly.
"Wow, you've never broken up with anyone before, have you?"
"No. Because you're the only person I've ever been with."
"And you regret that?"
"Yes. Don't you?" Rachel asked in disbelief.
Milo couldn't help but to turn at Laura quickly before turning back to Rachel. "Rachel-"
"You don't need to explain anything. You don't need- Let's just quit this", Rachel said in a tired voice.
"Rachel", she suddenly heard a voice, and she and Milo both turned to look at Christian, who was standing a bit further away, still in his hospital clothes.
Rachel turned back to Milo, and sighed as she saw his expression. "No, don't cause a scene-"
"So that's why you're breaking up with me? I mean, it's obvious. Why else would you break up with me unless you had someone waiting in line? You can't stand to be alone."
"There is no one else", Rachel snapped. "And if there would be, I'd tell you. You can call me anything you want, but you don't get to call me a liar."
Milo gave Christian one more look, and turned to Rachel. "So you're not.."
"No", Rachel said.
"And you don't have feelings for anyone else?"
"Just go away, Milo", Rachel said. "It's not like you don't want to be done with this as much as me."
"You're right", Milo nodded and started to back away.
"We can still be frie-"
"Yeah, we can't", Milo snorted, and walked off, past Laura, too, straight out of the hospital.
Rachel looked at Laura before walking right past Christian back towards the hospital area.
"Hey", Christian followed her. "I'm sorry, I was just going to-"
"I'm not mad at you", Rachel muttered. "But I did just break up with my boyfriend, so I'm not exactly a ray of sunshine."
"Are you ever?" Christian smiled a little, and Rachel turned to look at him. "I'll see you around", and then she turned around, heading for the exit of the hospital as well.

"I bloody hate my life", Holly muttered as she was sitting on the other side of the counter as Margot was pouring drinks on the other side.
"Referring to the guy who stopped by?" Margot asked.
"Yes", Holly sighed.
"Are you going to tell what happened between you two, then?"
"No", Holly muttered, gazing at her half-finished drink. "He just broke my heart."
Margot was about to say something when she suddenly noticed that Corey entered the bar.
"I mean, I did nothing wrong! Yes, I stole his car, but I gave it back, damn it. And it was only after he had cheated on me!" Holly busted out. Apparently she didn't really hold her liquor well.
"Yeah, sure", Margot said, but she had her eyes on Corey, who smirked, and came to sit next to Holly, eyes on Margot. "Hi."
"Hi", Margot smirked.
"Is this the guy you love?" Holly asked loudly, and Margot sighed, closing her eyes.
Corey just chuckled. "Is this your friend?"
"Holly, Corey. Corey, Holly..", Margot sighed. This was not how it was supposed to go. Holly was supposed to be her back-up, not a drunken idiot friend.
"Hi", Holly said. "My ex-boyfriend is in town, and you'll never guess-"
"Holly!" Margot snapped. "Would you like to go sit at a booth?"
"Not really", Holly shook her head, and took another sip from her drink.
Margot sighed, and just turned to serve other costumers.

Rachel got home to find Laura standing in the hall, but Rachel said nothing, just closed the door behind her.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine", Rachel shook her shoulders. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"Because you just broke up with your long-term boyfriend", Laura said.
Rachel let out a laugh, and when she turned to Laura, she was surprised to see her look scared.
"What?"
"How can you be laughing?"
"Because the relationship was a pain. He was a pain. And I was a pain. We were a disaster. I'm glad it's over. I don't need anyone in my life who's always going to bring me down", Rachel said. "He's out of my life."
Laura smiled awkwardly. "What about me?"
"What?" Rachel asked in confusion.
"He's not out of my life."
"I know."
"And I'm your best friend. So you're going to see him again."
"I know-"
"And some of us still like Milo, so it would be nice if you wouldn't insult him so much!" Laura busted out and walked past Rachel and straight out of the apartment.
"What?" Rachel didn't have time to respond in any way before she had the front door slammed shut in front of her face.
She groaned and turned around, walking towards the kitchen to find Ale there, staring at her phone.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm supposed to go out tonight with this guy. He said he'd call me. He.. hasn't", Ale muttered.
"Why don't you call him?"
Ale turned to look at Rachel with shock. "Ok, first of all: The girl never calls the guy for the first date. And second of all: I don't have his number", she sighed out the last part.
"I called Milo for our first date", Rachel shook her shoulders.
"And look just how well that turned out."
"Gosh, you're right. And what the hell am I gonna do now? No one else is ever going to date me", Rachel sighed and got out a Ben & Jerry cookie dough ice cream from the freezer.
"Not if you keep eating like that."
"Shut up", Rachel groaned and stuffed a spoonfull of ice cream in her mouth just in time to see Moosh walk in with a smile on her face.
"What's up?" Ale asked.
"Oh, nothing. I brought chinese", Moosh said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Yay!"
Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and they all looked confused. "Are we expecting someone?"
"Not that I know of", Moosh said and walked to the door, and as she opened it, she let out an actual scream and then half-closed the door and ran back to the kitchen area.
"McDreamy is here."
"What?" Rachel's eyes widened as she ran to the door.
"Who's McDreamy?" Ale asked.
"Her new boyfriend."
"Hey", Rachel said as she reached the door. And indeed, there he was. Christian. He looked kind of confused, maybe because of Moosh's scream, but smiled anyway as he saw her.
"Hey. I hope you don't mind I stopped by, I got your address from Jenny. I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
Rachel's heart melted. No one, absolutely no one, had ever done that for her before. Actually been so polite and considerate.
"That's.. Wow, that's really nice of you", she was feeling kind of awkward with Moosh and Ale staring at them, but she smiled anyway as she looked at him. "Thank you."
"Are you?"
"What?"
"Ok?"
"Oh, I..", Rachel started to stammer. Was she ok? "I guess I am. It was long coming, our break up. Not a surprise."
"He seemed surprised", Christian said, but then shook his head. "No, it's none of my business. I'm sorry. Here", he handed a bag of donuts for her, which she took in amazement.
"When I'm sad, my sister always brings me donuts", he explained.
"Thank you", Rachel smiled wide and then only realized to ask: "Do you want to come in?"
"No, I have to get back to the hospital, but.. I know this sounds really lame, but.. I'm here if you need me."
"You know what?" Rachel paused. "No, it did still sound lame. Thanks, though", she chuckled. "I'll see you later."
Christian gave her one last smile before she closed the door after her and turned back to Moosh and Ale, who were both looking at her, eyes wide.
"Yeah, I don't think you're going to have to worry about the no-boyfriend thing", Ale smirked.
"Agreed."
"Shut up", Rachel muttered as she took one of the donuts and took a bite as she laid the bag on the kitchen table.
They all turned their heads towards the enterance as they heard a loud bang, which came from Margot, who had pushed the door open, supporting Holly, who just looked tired. No, wait? Was she laughing?
"When you two get married, can I please, pretty please, be at the wedding?" she giggled as Margot basically threw her on the couch and grabbed one of the donuts from Rachel's bag.
"What's going on?" Moosh asked in confusion.
"That girl was supposed to come and be a support, to check if Corey likes me, and you know what she did? Drowned her own worries. In tequila."
"Tequila", Holly let out another laugh and laid her head on the couch.
Ale looked amused. "I'm so not like that when I'm drunk."
"I am", Rachel chuckled. "You'll try again tomorrow. We can all come!"
"No! No one is coming anymore!" Margot shouted out. "Corey left almost immediately after Holly got... out of control. You embarrased me!" she snapped at Holly, who just waved her hand dismissively.
"Hey, the hangover she's going to have tomorrow will be punishment enough", Moosh pointed out, and Ale and Rachel nodded.
"I guess my date is not going to call me", Ale muttered and smashed her phone (no, not that hard) on the table, and Moosh raised her eyebrows.
"Didn't you have a thing going on with the model?"
"Yeah, but this is a different guy."
Holly let out a lot louder laugh this time, and they all turned to look at her.
"You have two boyfriends!"
"You know, I don't usually feel like this, but with Holly, I like her better when she's sober", Ale said and walked out of the kitchen, most likely towards her room.
Rachel considered having a talk with Laura, who'd been locked up in her room all night ever since her weird act, but she was too tired.
"I'm turning in", she said and with that left Moosh, Margot and Holly alone.
"I'm sleeping here!" Holly shouted, meaning the couch, and no one was arguing.
"This is going well, isn't it, us living together?" Moosh tried to smile, but Margot just grunted and went off to sleep.
"Yeah, I think so, too!" Moosh smiled to herself and took another donut.

The next morning Moosh and Rachel were the first ones up, and Rachel was already half out of the apartment when Moosh entered the general area.
"Hey, you off already? It's 6 am", she asked.
"Yeah, well.. Yeah. Bye", Rachel said, and with that she was gone.
"I wish I had a hot boyfriend to see at work", Moosh said to herself again and started to make coffee. She would leave the pot on, so everyone could drink whenever they woke up.

"How are you feeling today?" Moosh asked as she was sitting opposite of Zayn Malik again. He had a morning session.
"The same as last time", he said with boredom.
"You didn't really tell me how you were feeling last time."
"Guess."
"No, enlighten me", Moosh encouraged.
Zayn said nothing, just scoffed a little.
"Ok, hey", Moosh said. "How about I tell you something about myself, and maybe you'll feel like sharing afterwards?"
"Depends. Do you use this method on everyone?" Zayn asked suspiciously.
"Gosh no. Do you think I want every old granpa knowing every weird detail about me?" Moosh smirked, and she even saw a small smile on Zayn's lips as he nodded and said: "Go for it."
"Well, five girls moved in with me just the other day. I have five roommates. It's crazy. I'm not even sure if I like them. I think I do, but I don't know.. And then there's the fact that I'm single, and almost all of the others aren't. The girls, they're gorgeous, smart, they have awesome lives and most of them have even more gorgeous boyfriends. I admit it, Zayn, I'm a bit scared. I'm stuck. When was the last time I had a boyfriend? I can't even remember. It could be because I'm a therapist, some people find that intimidating, or it could be because I'm not pretty enough, or interesting enough..."
Moosh just kept babbling for a while, until she finally stopped, and by the time she did, there was a real smile on Zayn's lips.
"What?" Moosh asked.
"I think you're the one in need of therapy", he smiled widely, and Moosh snorted.
"No, I'd know if I needed therapy."
"Whatever you say."
"So.. Can you tell me something about yourself now, then?" Moosh asked, hoping that this thing would work.
"On one condition."
"Name it", Moosh had heard countless ones.
"If you'll go on a date with me."
Ok, this one was new.
"Excuse me?" Moosh raised her eyebrows.
"Or, is it against the rules or something?" Zayn asked quickly.
"You know, it probably is-"
"But you said you were lonely."
"That wasn't exactly what I said-"
"If you'll go on a date with me, I'll tell you my whole life story. How does that sound?"
Moosh considered this. What was there to lose? She'd talked to his parents on the phone. He didn't seem like a guy who came from a serial killer family. Plus, she thought he was really hot.
"Uh, ok", she said finally. "Fine, I'll go on a date with you. When?"
"Tonight", Zayn said. "Do you want me to pick you up?"
"We can meet here", Moosh watched in amazement as Zayn got up and walked towards the door.
"Awesome. I'll pick you up here at 7. See you later, doc."
"Well, look at that", Moosh chuckled after Zayn closed the door after him.
