LGBT Question

Is a sex change really a sex 'change'?

Officially it is a change in certain ways in that you have to change the sex on your liscense and other paperwork. And in a lot of cases their bodies too from hrmones or surgery.

But if a person feels they are the other gender already, at least inside, psychologically and emotionally, then it isn't a change in that respect it's more of a 'confirming' of their true gender, a word I heard someone use who works with people on gender identity issues.

Well, that's why people involved with trans issues usually make a distinction made between gender and sex, where gender's the identity part and sex's the biological part. The person undergoing SRS has their sex changed to match their gender identity.
