Last weeks episode got us back into the basic swing of things...and this week it reminded us of exactly how much emotion this show can carry. And this episode bared it all. Callian fans will be extatic with this episode, and while I still don't exactly support their ship...I certainly respect it a heck of a lot more.
This episode was all about Cal and Gillian's relationship, nothing more and nothing less. (Unless you count the explosions and guns as 'something more')
I won't run over the episode plot, but I will briefly talk about the key scenes in this episode.
We literally start things off with a bang, but that's to be expected with thi series, there's an explosion at least every other episode.
At first, when Cal and Gillian were caight up in alot of unexpected tension, I had no idea what the heck was going on. But that's what loker and Ria were for, because they knew as much about what was going on as we (the audience) did. However, all I remember doing was freaking out when I saw Loker all bloody...I didn't know I cared about him that much until his life was in danger.
Anyway. Apparently 7 Years ago, Gillian was Cal's Psychologist (big shocker there) but it's such an appropriate way to meet for the first time, it works perfectly. And as the episode progressed, their story unfolds, and the bones of their relationship is revealed...as soon as Cal met Gillian, it was all based on a lie. Gillian lied about her motives to literally save Cal's life and family, and Cal detected nothing for 7 years. Sure, it was 7 years ago when this happened, so his skills are probably a bit weaker than they are now, but even then having a lie get past him is a big deal, and the fact that Gillian has kept it from him for 7 years makes her just that much more important and powerful.
This episode was absolutly intence. This time it was just your A Story, and thankfully no B (unless you count the flashbacks as a seperate story) because frankly, keeping track of 2 stories get's a little confusing.
Loker, for once, had a big role...in the first half of the episode. Then he literally dissapeared. Same thing with Ria and Emily. This episode went so deep into relationships, they literally left out every other character that had nothing to do with it.
It had one focus, and that was to reveal to us what held Cal and Gillian together.
A lie.
