The legend :)
The legend :)
I was reading about Bill Shankly because he's such a LFC legend, and found lots of amazing sayings by him about football and Liverpool. So yeahh, thought i'd share them with you lot :).

“We murdered them 0-0.”

“When I’ve got nothing better to do, I look down the league table to see how Everton are getting along.”

“Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool.”

“A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe that you are the best and then make sure that you are. In my time at Liverpool we always said we had the best two teams in Merseyside, Liverpool and Liverpool...

Diaby fired Arsenal into an early lead

Liverpool set up another Champions League semi-final with Chelsea after a stunning late win over Arsenal.

Abou Diaby put Arsenal into an early lead but Sami Hyypia lost Phillipe Senderos to head an equaliser.

Fernando Torres looked to have settled it when he scored in the top corner, until a superb Theo Walcott run allowed Emmanuel Adebayor to tap in.

But Kolo Toure fouled Ryan Babel and Gerrard held his nerve from the spot, before Babel broke to add a fourth.

May 2 2008 EXCLUSIVE by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL have tabled a £10m bid to bring Aston Villa star Gareth Barry to Anfield.

The offer was made yesterday as Rafa Benitez reacted to Liverpool's Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea by making an immediate move for his number one summer transfer target.

The Reds boss has earmarked Barry as a potential key signing and the centre piece of his rebuilding plans as he looks to put together a squad with enough strength in depth to be able to mount a genuine challenge for the Premier League title.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has insisted...

JAVIER MACHERANO insists Liverpool must maintain a near perfect record at Anfield if they are to realise their dream of landing the Barclays Premier League title.
The Reds have so far taken maximum points from home matches with Middlesbrough and Man United respectively and the Argentina international is adamant there can be no slip ups when they entertain Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

"If we want to fight for the league then you have to try to get all the points available at home," he said.

"We need to do all the right things if we are going to do that but we have taken six points from...

So here we are in February of 2010. Liverpool FC has not had the greatest season so far. In fact one might say it has been very poor indeed. They were eliminated from the FA Cup, Champions League, Carling Cup and are now not serious contenders for the Premier League title race. However they seem to be on the up and up! Recent results bode well. Over the past few months, Liverpool were serious danger of not coming in the top 4 of the premier league and therefore not qualifying for next seasons Champions League. Now however with their main rivals for that 4th spot of Tottenham, Aston...

Rafael Benitez is confident his Liverpool side will overcome the odds and reach an eighth European Cup final with victory at Stamford Bridge this evening.
Chelsea may kick-off tonight's semi-final second leg as favourites to progress after John Arne Riise's late own goal last week, but Benitez believes his players are in the mood to set up a final date with Manchester United in Moscow on May 21.

"They know they can go out and make history," said Benitez. "They can join an elite group which has got to three Champions League finals and go to another...

Sami Hyypia has backed John Arne Riise to bounce back to his best and vanquish that own goal agony when the Reds face Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
The big Finn said the Norwegian international has the quality to put that memory behind him and help the Reds achieve their Moscow dream by beating Chelsea.

"John is a good character and hopefully he is not worrying about that own goal any longer," said Hyypia.

"He is mentally 100 per cent and players should be professional enough to handle these...
