Lord of the Rings Article: Dumbledore VS. Gandalf!

YES! another. :3

I am a fan of LOTR and HP.!
this is not an 1000 reasons why. so. dont go into that. annoying habit
and before we go into Gandalf was a God. I dont think he was according to wiki.!

but lets get to it! Who do you think would WIN?!

I know they come from two totally different background but COME ON why not have a little fun

Even though I think Gandalf is SOO awesome I am team Dumbledore! why?

because fact Dumbledore vs. Gandalf the Grey! hands down Dumbledore no thought to it.!

now Gandalf the White and Dumbledore I think it would be a LONG EPIC BEAUTIFUL! battle
but I STILL think dumbledore would win! what do you guys think i'm not going to go into detail just YET about WHY i want to respond to you guys responses and etc. so yeah!

DracoLuver I love Gandalf and Dumbledore both, but I really think Gandalf would win. He has more experience and has taken down a bit more powerful things then Dumbledore.

MithrasPotter I am tempted to argue for gandalf on this one. Just for a challenge :D Let's see. Gandalf was able to summon a spherical shield to protect himself from the Balrog's sword (that's going off the movies, anyway) That means he can protect himself from incredibly powerful physical and magical attacks (i.e. magical, fiery, biga** sword). Dumbledore's attacks would be primarily magical-hexes, curses, and the like. Others would be physical-transfiguring or manipulating objects around him to attack Gandalf. Therefore Gandalf can protect himself from all of Dumbledore's attacks (except perhaps Avada Kedavra, which Dumby doesn't use). Gandalf, however, can summon lightning, something that just might be fast enough, or powerful enough, to either beat or overpower Dumbledore's shield charm, effectively frying him. That's all I got for now.

MegGiry OMG, Galdalf is a lot better than Dumbledore. Dumbledore never really helps Harry in strife with evil, very seldom gives information, just has with him some queer conversations. If Gandalf was like that he would leave Frodo alone to cope with the Ring without advice or anything. In which case Frodo and his hobbit friends would have been killed somewhere around Bree (hobbits` meeting with Aragorn was organised by Gandalf)and the Ring taken to Sauron.

Arador As brilliant as Dumbledore is, Dumbledore is a human; Gandalf is an immortal Maia. There is no question about it, Dumbledore would not stand a chance. Do you really think Dumbledore would be able to fall miles and miles below the earth into water and then climb the 'Endless Stair' all the way up to the highest mountain and then defeat the Balrog single handedly? Also may I just point out that they come from two different universes with different laws of magic and so the two characters cannot co-exist together, let alone fight each other. It would rip a hole in both realities.

StarPotterRings Lets see Gandalf found the root of all evil. . Fought the most powerful of his kind. Talked to a butterfly that brought him an eagle to fly on. Devised a plan to defeat Sauron. Fell a thousand miles underground, killed the Balrog. Died,came back to life as the most powerful wizard. Saved everyone at Helms Deep. Created a distraction for Frodo at the black gate. Called the eagles with a butterfly again. Got Frodo at mount doom with the eagles. Than sailed of like a boss with Frodo and the elves. Sorry Dumbledore Gandalf wins.

Pinnipedi I read Harry Potter first and loved Dumbledore. When I read the lord of the rings, I loved Gandalf, and one of the reasons I loved him was because he reminded me of Dumbledore. But I seriously think Gandalf is actually better... he is a better person (remember the deathly hallows?), more powerful, and just a more amazing character (although I do still love Dumbledore too). And seriously, Dumbledore dies and that's it. Gandalf dies and then comes back to life, greater than ever before.

What i think about LOTR

I just finished to watch once again LOTR. I think nothing will compared with this. I think that Tolkien was more than a normal human. He put himself in this trilogy. With the character's speech, like the Aragorn's one at Mordor (which i like very very much) he tought us something, that there can be peace even between different "kinds", the importance of friendship, of the love, of the solidarity, the importance that we ALL have. Everyone can change things, from the hobbit, to the magician or the elf, everyone. I think that none of all the lenguages on this dear world, not even the one with more beautiful words, can say what i'm proving now, how much LOTR gave to me. I know, this is "just" a book or a film, but even from this things, that look like nothing important, we can learn something, i think.
