Staring at the night sky turning into the gray and black smoke color, I some how felt a great deal of sadness building up in my chest. I sat down on the hill and sighed, as the wind picked up, maybe it wasn’t so bad to be alone but I still wish to feel someone else next to me. Or at least someone to talk to when I feel this great deal of emotions. I fixed my dress and untied my hair once the sun sank to the bottom of the trees. Sometimes I liked twilight but then it brings me back to my heavy hearted self such as it is. I saw the moon rise and a shadow cast upon the ground when I heard the wind howl with the wolfs and the snow started to fall.
“So my mentor was correct. It was going to snow around or after twilight today.” I said. I heard the trees rustle even harder and I sensed another’s presents coming closer. As I turned around I saw a huge dragon sitting next to me with deep blue eyes as if it was an endless ocean, It’s wings where silvery with a pinch of gray blended in, outlined by a dark midnight black around the tips. It’s body looked strong and still as if it was a statue made out of marble. It’s eyes were filled with sadness and questioned written alone those blue rims. I could tell it was a male because the females have this look of anger or stern within their beautiful pupils. He seemed careful not to blow smoke in my face once he started to raise his head and looked at the moonlight. How his eyes glistened and glowed with a royal yet deep blue color, filled up with what my eyes had.
“Why, hello. What’s your name?” I said gladly. I knew he wasn’t going to hurt me and no one was around to see us so might as well make a friend. He smiled and let out a huff then looked at me with a side glance.
“I wasn’t born with a name. Why you ask?” He replied.
“Oh.. I thought dragons give themselves a name even if they don’t have one to go by.” I sputtered. He looked into my eyes and saw the sadness and nodded.
“Your feelings like mine. Did you see what twilight can do?” He gestured towards where the sun set to end the day. I nodded. I wonder what he can see within my soul? I heard a deep grumble, I assumed he was laughing because he wrapped his tail around his feet.
“So you to huh? I just don’t understand why but it does this to me almost everytime, but when it becomes light out, I feel as if it was a dream or it wasn’t real.” I switched my position and glared up at the moon. It was a full moon and I saw the silvery light wash over the land and the snow mixed with it makes it glow even brighter. The coldness nipped at my face but it didn’t bother me, and it didn’t look like it bothered my dragon pal.
“You cold?” He bellowed. I shook my head and looked up at his blue eyes. He seemed to mirror my emotions swirling within my autumn brown eyes. And came closer to me.
“Well, if you don’t have a name, why don’t your owner name you?” I asked.
“I don’t have an owner, I live on my own. I rather be free and live in peace, but my brethren don’t see it the way I do. You humans take advantage of us and cause us death. So why do I bother?” He seemed to twitch his tail and let out a growl.
“Oh, then what happened? And why do you think we humans take advantage?” I tried to be careful with my words for he looked like the type that could kill quickly. He shook his head and side glanced me again.
“My older brother had an owner, his owner killed him in a battle with another land. So I blamed his ‘master’ for his death and no I wish to seek him out and show him what it means to have lost something precious.” As he growled even louder and a ring of smoke puffed out of his nostrils. I saw what he had felt and placed a hand on his claw.
“I’m know what it feels like to lose something close, But please, is there need to hate? Was it an accident?” I squeaked. He closed his eyes and looked puzzled at my question.
“I know there is no need of hatred, so I shouldn’t blame anything. And no, it was because he wasn’t careful and didn’t listen to his ‘pet’.” He gently touched my hand with his claw and petted it. I smiled and noticed that the snow was falling faster.
“I should take you to my home. Here.” As he placed he stretched out his tail for me to climb on. Knowing that this wasn’t a good choice, I did it anyways. We flew across the lands and into a cave within the snow topped mountains.
