Walt Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901. He won fifty-nine Academy Awards, twenty-one Oscars, and seven Emmy Awards, giving him the graditude of being the most nominated and award winning individual ever. He was also known to be a famous film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon and philanthropist.
As his first job or career, he worked on making ads for newspapers, movie theaters, and magazines, in Kansas. A few years later, people started recognizing him for his artistic talent. His pictures and drawings which depicted the ads, nearly shouted out to every person who saw them. Weeks later, Walt met a cartoonist named Ubbe Iwerks. They chatted and talked, and became very fond of eachother. After many weeks of chat, Ubbe and Walt decided to start their own commercial company. This was a short lived buisness. Walt became very interested in the life of an animator, and decided to become one himself. He started out as an amatuer cut out animator, and worked his way up from there. He read books and guides that might help him become more successful. And others on how to make characters come to life. After years of practice and care taking he finally achieved an opportunity of success. He joined work with a man named Frank L. Newman who was the most popular "showman" at the time. They aired cartoons called, "Newman Laugh-O-Grams." The cartoons became famous throughout the entire state of Kansas.
Through his success, Walt was able to buy his own studio, in which he hired many additional animators. The studio did not handle money very well, and almost immediately became bankrupt. So, Walt decided to try again in Hollywood, California. This buisness turned out to be very prompt to succeed. He created his own series with the help from, Margaret Winkler, who helped him deal with money. The new show was called, "Alice Comedies." The new series was fairly successful, but eventually they ran out of ideas for the show to go on , so they discontinued it in 1927.
In that same year, Walt met with a man named Charles B. Mintz. Charles was a very talented animator, and since Walt was out of a job, decided to join his company. Walt worked for Charles for a long while, and they created a character named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was a popular figure... That is until Charles made a decision that changed his company forever. Charles had made a quick change in his employees' paycheck. Walt was flabberghasted and acted quickly to revolt against his change. Charles said that either, he deals with the new budgets or, he'll start another studio elsewhere. The reason he could do this, was because he initially owned the rights to Oswald, so Walt really couldn't do anything.
Instead of giving in and dealing with the new changes, Walt quit and started his own buisness. He said to Charles that he would create a bigger cartoon; one that would blow Oswald away, and leave him in the dust.
November 18, 1928 Walt was riding a train back to Kansas. On his way there, he doodled randomly on a piece of paper; experimenting with different looks. He then thought of his pet, mouse, which he had taken care of, while working for Charles. He hadn't come up with a name for the nocturnal animal, but he was quite fond of it; eventually, like all living things, it died. While he was thinking of this mouse, he started "drawing" a mouse. This mouse was penciled in black, and had an adorable smile, with long eyes, and round ears. He would show this to his wife, when he got home, and ask what he should name him. Of course, he had already decided that his name would be Mortimer, nontheless. When he arrived back home, he showed her his drawing. She loved the look of this mouse, and found him very cute. Walt asked what he should entitle him, and mentioned the name Mortimer. His wife immediately took a disliking to the name, and said it did not fit his appearance well. Walt then asked what else he could name him, and his wife said that it should be a more cute name, like... like Mickey. Walt took a shine to the name, and agreed that it fitted him more perfectly. Thus was the beginning of Disney's company, Mickey Mouse. Mickey starred in his very first cartoon in 1928, and was released in that same year. Although the cartoon that was first released, was not the first he starred in. His first cartoon was called, "Plane Crazy." And the one that was released was called, "Steamboat Willie." Audiences everywhere truely admired these cartoons, and were found to be very comical. Mickey didn't talk in either episodes, but finally did in 1929. His first words were, "Hot dogs! Hot dogs!" As seen in the cartoon, "Karnival Kid."
Mickey became a close competitor to Felix the Cat. Felix didn't have sound in his first cartoons like Mickey did, so the owner of Felix, Pat Sullivan, added sound. Unfortunately for Pat, audiences did not respond well to Felix. Back then it was all about the Mickey cartoons, and Felix eventually faded from the screen. In 1929 Walt made a cartoon series, featuring Mickey in "The Mickey Mouse Clubs." Which was in every theater across the U.S.A.
To this day, Mickey is remembered as a great American idol, and was produced in more advanced technology, such as video games. His most popular video game, he features in is, "Kingdom Hearts." He plays the king of Disney Castle, and is one of the keyblade bearers. This video game has won the Greatest Hits Award, because of so many fans entitled to this game.
Mickey has had three voice actors - Walt Disney, Jimmy MacDonald, and Wayne Allwine - all passed away. There is no current voice actor, but hopefully Disney won't leave their boss voiceless. However, Mickey still lives on in the hearts of all Disney fans. Walt has come a long way, and has created a fun filled company in which we all love, or else you would not be reading this.
Anywho, let me end this with one famous quote.

"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse."
