At first, I was like, 'I'm not going to do it.' Then I talked about it on 'Conan' and I was like, 'God, I do kind of want to do it,' but I can't do it. You know what I mean? I kind of wanted to, but I don't know. It doesn't seem fair. I think the re-touching would be great, and there is something kind of thrilling, dangerous and sexy, and cheesy about being naked in a magazine, but I do actually admire Playboy more than I do Maxim or FHM. When girls do that, all the power to them, have a great time, get all oiled up and put on some lingerie and get your picture taken. But I think if you're going to do it, really do it. Go to the all-American institution and really damn well do it. But the manager, the agents, the lawyers, they were all, 'You can't do it,' and my mom and dad would have been upset. Even though I talked to them about it and they said, 'You know what, if you really want to do it, that's okay,' but I knew that it would upset them and make them uncomfortable.

Fashion is really pretty ridiculous if you think about it. Not clothing, I'm all for decent clothing, but we are talking about FASHION. Fashion is a judgmental, insipid voice that says you will never be attractive or powerful unless you spend an inordinate amount of money on the right pieces of clothing. That's just downright evil. One day, long ago, some charismatic caveperson hung a second ferret skull on their loin-cloth-holder-upper and 'fashion' was born.

Great writing. I've only done sitcoms that essentially get cancelled right away, but the hours are better, so I didn't even want to read it, but my manager kept pressuring me to read the script. I read it, and I went, 'It's really good.' I had friends that were on dramas, and it's a tough life. You don't really have a social life and I'm a lazy, greedy, hedonist, so I was rooting for another sitcom, but when I read it, it was just so great and so original that I had to do it. I read it, and I loved it, but I didn't want to meet them because I didn't want to do it. My manager said, 'You have to go meet them,' and I went in and met Bob Lowry, the creator, Scott Winant, the director, and Hank [Azaria]. They were all just so great and funny and nice, and I was like, 'Oh, I have to do it.' Then I really wanted it and I had to audition against other girls, and I was like, 'I can't believe I really want this now.' I'm so lucky that they hired me, I can't believe it.

He does those damn voices all the time. He does them all the time, but this year he became obsessed with the voice of Plankton from 'SpongeBob'. I've never seen 'SpongeBob', but he's walking around talking about wanting Crabby Patty. We'll honestly be doing scenes where we're having a huge knock-down drag-out fight, and I'm crying and then at 'Cut,' he'll just start talking about Crabby Patties, or go into Apu. It's great. Hank and I are friends, and we talk all the time.

I had a stalker problem in San Francisco about 11 years ago. I read everything about stalking, sexual sadism, and serial killers. It can make me a little paranoid, but it's fascinating.

My parents are so great and I owe them my existence, so I couldn't do it, but I was really tempted by it. It really is flattering. I'm 37. It's pretty good. I feel like I'm looking pretty good. I kind of felt like, 'I should take pictures of it now. It's not going to look good in five years.'

Rockabilly chicks have tattoos and piercings.... When you're a woman shooting a woman, and she feels happy and sexy and cute, there's something about it that's joyful. It may sound corny, but they own their sexuality.

They were looking to bring in a female agent who was unknown to the unit. Ed said, 'As writers we've grown complacent about who these people are, and we need to shake it up.' It's the nicest way to join a cast because my character is feeling exactly the way I'm feeling, which is, 'Please accept me, because I want to be here.' And it's just heaven. I get to dance with Mandy Patinkin in between takes, and he sings in my ear.

When you have good writing, it makes acting so much easier. What you're saying, you empathize with the person you're playing as you read the script for the first time a week before you shoot it, and it's just exciting to be able to say those words and do that scene.
