Well you do have a lot of different signs. The most usual are the ones where you listen to different noises like if they were coming from inside the walls like punches, something been dragged or taps. Another usual sign is when "things" appeared on your house and you are sure you havent done anything like lights turned on when they should be off, water running on the bathroom whith no explenation at all, weird statics on the tv or radio.
Then you have the most uncommon signs like objects out of their places and weird things on possible photos you took on your house with friends or family.

There are no real signs, if there was then it wouldn't be so hard to prove the existence of the paranormal. Are you hearing strange noises? Are you seeing things that you can not explain? My suggestion to you is, if you hear something, go immeadiatley to the sound and try to duplicate it, if you can not, than there is a good chance you may be haunted. The same goes for seeing something, if you see something, do everything you can to de-bunk it before you say it is activity. If you can not de-bunk sounds, or sightings, it is a good chance you have a spirit in your home.
