A few days later, Anjanette was walking her dogs Misty and Blitz through the park, with Tammy keeping them company. It was a slow, peaceful day, with Misty and Blitz stopping constantly to sniff at things, and Tammy often taking the opportunities to pet them. Tammy always loved playing with other people's pets even though she still said she didn't think she was the right person to own one herself.
A voice called out to them, breaking the stillness, and the girls turned to see Ferdinand and Becky hurrying towards them.
"Girls!" cried Becky, before Ferdinand had said a word, "you'll never guess what Ferdinand was just telling me!" She was almost jumping up and down with excitement.
Ferdinand grinned. "Listen to this - A Wave Tossed In the Ocean is coming to perform here!"
Tammy squealed.
"Oh, I can't believe it! I could actually be in the same room with that dreamy Charles!" She sighed happily.
"I thought you said he was too old for you?" Becky teased her.
Tammy laughed. "A girl can dream."
Anjanette was excited too. She could be in the same room as Les - she felt such a connection to him after hearing "The Letter", which she'd downloaded and listened to over and over again since Ferdinand had first played it for her... she could see Jimmy in person, and was sure he'd look just as much like an animal lover when she did....
"Well, Ferdinand and I are definitely going to see them," Becky declared. "I know my parents will pay for the tickets if we need."
"I said I would pay," Ferdinand clarified, "but the tickets might be a little expensive, and when I told Becky that...."
Becky waved this away. "My parents will be happy to help us out so that we can go see our new favourite band. Anyway, can you two come as well? We can't let you miss seeing A Wave Tossed In the Ocean!"
"Well," Tammy said, "I don't think my parents will actually buy the tickets for me... they've been telling me I need to learn to be more responsible lately... But I'm sure they'll help me pay for them when I tell them how important this is! How about you, Anjanette?"
Anjanette hesitated. "Uncle Bruce would want me to go see anything that would make me happy... but he also said money's been a little tighter than usual lately." She paused, trying not to think about not being able to go after all. "I can ask him."
"I'm sure he'll say yes," Tammy put in encouragingly. "I mean, how often does your new favourite band just come to town?"
"Or my parents can buy your ticket too," Becky offered.
Anjanette gave her friends a small smile. "No, I couldn't ask them to do that. I'll just ask Uncle Bruce and see what he says."
Ferdinand put a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure we'll find some way you can go with us, no matter what. We're not letting you miss this, okay?"
Anjanette managed a bigger smile. "Okay."
