Steff was born in an animal research laboratory in Oklahoma. Her mother was genetically modified and therefore is a beaver-cat. The lab assistants, who were working for the CIA were hoping to get useful results out of these experiments, similar to cloning. Steffs mother (Scharole), gave birth to a child, whose father was a beaver and despite of its modification the child still was a full-blooded beaver.
